Fed up of the ConDems robbing the poorest and most vulnerable blind? Sympathetic to the squeezed middle? Have you eyes that can see the horrors that await the dismantling of our welfare state and all that is great and good in UK?

Then you're a frother. This is our safe-space to rally, vent and get organised. You are also welcome if you want to be better informed and/or do something.

MmeReindor · 21/12/2011 11:29

Thanks, Christine. Will put it on the blog now.

IslaDoit · 21/12/2011 12:46

Now I could be mis-remembering but didn't Scotland contribute huge amounts to the British economy from oil and gas? Far in excess of the large subsidies from Westminister which have historically funded these sorts of things??

Sitting in London I feel quite jealous of Scotland with no student fees, free prescriptions etc etc when I can't afford to have a second child because of housing costs, exorbitant childcare costs and university fees. Plus paying for the bloody white elephant that is the Olympics. I want what Scotland has!

IslaDoit · 21/12/2011 12:49

Funded free higher education and other things like free prescriptions I mean. Not these sorts of things.

AvadventKalendar · 21/12/2011 12:54

Are Scotland dwellers also not paying for the Olympics then Isla?

Living here is not like the land of milk and honey believe me, unless you are very sick and go to Uni of course then I suppose it is Wink

here are issues that are devolved www.scotland.gov.uk/About/18060/11552 in laymans terms the only benefits we see on a day to day basis are the tuition fees and free eye tests/prescriptions.

Here is what is not devolved www.scotland.gov.uk/About/18060/11555

AvadventKalendar · 21/12/2011 12:57

Can someone on tmc twitter please tweet about wanting contributers/writers for the blog so I can rt it, there was one the other day but so far gone I can't find it now, thanks!

IslaDoit · 21/12/2011 13:07

We're paying extra in London via council tax.

KnottyJustForChristmas · 21/12/2011 13:38

I think I've got a guest blogger. I'm just talking her through it all!

AvadventKalendar · 21/12/2011 14:49

Isla, I suppose the thinking behind it is that Londoners will benefit from the lasting legacy of the facilities?

Well done Knotty :) I'm still waiting to hear back from the person I contacted, or maybe they are just not interested Sad

AvadventKalendar · 21/12/2011 15:16

Someone on twitter is looking interested in guest blogging :) asked them to tweet tmc and someone there will sort her out, hope that was correct!

MmeReindor · 21/12/2011 15:40

And proof it does make a difference here www.communitycare.co.uk/Articles/21/12/2011/117890/Top-five-victories-against-social-care-cuts-of-2011.htm

have a good evening everyone

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 21/12/2011 17:57

Hello Mouseface - I recognise you from Woolly threads!

I have read and tweeted a lot about homelessness today, and there is a campaign on the Shelter website that if possible I would like to add to the Petitions page on the blog. Can someone have a look at Shelter and see? It has been going a while but is still going strong.

They are campaigning against Government cuts reducing temporary housing support, changing the rules on council support and restricting free legal advice for those in need.

There's also one asking for emails to be sent to Housing Minister Grant Shapps about rogue landlords. Now I haven't seen that Dispatches programme, it was broadcast in the summer did anyone see it? That campaign is still going on, and could be added too?

I'm out now this evening, but if anyone can have a look at Shelter and the petition, and see what you think I'd be grateful.

KnottyJustForChristmas · 21/12/2011 17:57

Mousey, I've messaged you back, my lovely Xmas Smile

IslaDoit · 21/12/2011 18:10

Hello I am back. I had to do some RL stuff. I've given DS a gingerbread man so I reckon I have 30 seconds(!)

Ava, re Olympics yes that is what we have been told. Except that many promised local projects have been cut. I say local - I'm in w London so we've seen nothing. There's also allegations of corruption regarding the awarding and purchasing of facilities post games. What we will get is an influx of visitors, road closures, high liklihood of chaos on public transport and an increased terror threat.

garlicnutcracker · 21/12/2011 19:42

Ava - I am SO frothing!!! Have been compliling figures. I thought someone would have done it by now, but can't find 'em so am making charts to show how else the deficit could be met. It's exhausting (daren't get it wrong) but throwing up more nuggets than I have time to tweet!

Looking forward to your post :)

blackoutthexmaslights · 21/12/2011 21:26

blackoutthexmaslights · 21/12/2011 22:18

oh yeah she is fine the bugger Xmas Grin

today was the day where she has managed to pull herself up (she is 9 months). found her eating my poinsetta plant. both me and dp had always thought that the leaves were posinious.

anyway, the lovely doctor told us that she would have to eat her own body weight to have any effect and only then it would be a case of d+v

so came back home looking very Blush

MmeReindor · 21/12/2011 22:24

oh God. What a fright.

I heard that poinsettias are poisonous too.
