Fed up of the ConDems robbing the poorest and most vulnerable blind? Sympathetic to the squeezed middle? Have you eyes that can see the horrors that await the dismantling of our welfare state and all that is great and good in UK?

Then you're a frother. This is our safe-space to rally, vent and get organised. You are also welcome if you want to be better informed and/or do something.

#Frothers don't join - #frothers ARE. Check out the blog for information and actions you can take, like us on www.facebook.com/frothers Facebook for bite-sized chunks of frothiness you can read, like and share, or get ye to Twitter and tweet your frustrations using the #frothers hashtag or follow us @TMC_frothers.

I suspect many of my followers are yours too, Mme, but I get it now

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 12:45

Yes, that is the problem with the Frothers twitter.

But it only takes one of your followers, who is followed by someone influential to get it going viral.

Good discussion going on now

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 12:47

I need to get more followers don't I ?

ones not necessarily singing from the same hymnsheet as the frothers (because that is preaching to converted innit)

how does one go about getting more followers ?

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 12:53

You follow other folk and hope they follow you back.

aha. Now I know why there is so much interest, a Guardian journalist, Deborah Orr RTed the post.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 12:57

Oh dear

I think I made a boo-boo

I blocked some people I was following, because I didn't want my time line filled up with christmas chatter and where to find the perfect shoes and perfect dress (nothing wrong with those convo's of course, it's just they take up a lot of space and it's not what I want to use my twitter for)

that was a mistake, wasn't it ?

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 12:58

it's just so fast moving, and only a few posts show up when you dip in and out for 5 mins at a time

I just don't have the time to trawl back, IYSWIM

I'm still doing it wrong I think

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 13:12

Af you can make lists of people. This is what I'm going to do. I've followed back every

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 13:16

...one on the frothers account but now I need to sift through to see who says good stuff and put them in a list to read later.

We only have about 270 followers but we are being regularly RT'd by people with a couple of thousand.

Talking of which it looks like its kicking off over the workfare thing RT'd by Deborah Orr. There are some twittish comments though where one wonders if they can even read Hmm

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 13:41

The latest blog post is showing as posted in Thursday, not today. Is it meant to do that? [luddite emoticon]

OP posts:
MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 13:46

Maybe cause it was written on Thursday.

Yes, thanks to Deborah Orr, the blog is getting a bit of an airing today. Over 1000 pageviews already.

Does anyone have a full list of companies that use Workfare employees?

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 13:57

Www.boycottworkfare.org have the most information. Much of it is hidden. I did find a PDF with a list from August but it's the old scheme, not the new. I posted a link on www.facebook.com/frothers

We need to be careful what we say and make sure we double check facts and have evidence so that we don't get sued and don't blow our credibility.

OP posts:
MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 14:02

Thanks, Kate. Have linked to that to the woman wanting to boycott companies who use Workfare.

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 14:16

I think I already sent it to her. Now she has no excuses for not seeing it! Grin

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 14:48

Cripes! Too many cuts @tmc_frothers is trending on Twitter for UK! Well done MmeL!

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 14:51

Well done Marmite, I would say.

I had a glance through the comments this morning and that one popped out at me.

We need to do that more often perhaps.

Go Frothers.

OpinionatedMum · 17/12/2011 15:14

I don'k know anyone in rl on twitter. Should I just get on their, follow some people who interest me and post stuff with #frothers? Would that help?

OpinionatedMum · 17/12/2011 15:14

there

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 15:29

OM
If you want to give Twitter a go, yes.

For any new Twitterers, here is my blog post with hints how to do it.

I will warn you that it is quite addictive.

As AF says, it is tricky when you begin because we are all following each other. Have a look at my timeline and follow anyone you think might be interesting.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 15:39

oh, I hadn't seen your blog post, Mme

thanks

OpinionatedMum · 17/12/2011 15:47

Thanks ,those hints have made it a lot clearer!

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 16:09

Af to stop stuff cluttering your timeline just don't follow them but don't block them either. That way they can see your posts but you can't see theirs. They can still send you personal messages too.

OP posts:
AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 16:16

But these are people I did follow, but then wanted to stop following

The only thing I knew to do was block them

Was there something else I should have done ?

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 16:16

(and they are perfectly nice people if anyone on here susses what I did)

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 16:23

should re-tweets show up on your own timeline ?
