no, you don't have to block them. You can just unfollow.

You can always refollow them and claim ignorance of how twitter works.

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 16:30

if you hover over the button it should give you the option to unfollow.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 16:31

ah, every day is a school day

MMe, why aren't my retweets showing up ?

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 17/12/2011 16:31

thanks, btw

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 16:33

If you look at your timeline, there should be a little green slice of cake on the side of the tweet that you RTed.

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 16:34

ok, looked again. A green corner. Not cake.

Xmas Grin

glasnost · 17/12/2011 16:39

"It's not the end of capitalism, just a huge transfer of wealth away from the public."

claig a huge transfer of wealth away from the public is capitalism in a nutshell.

glasnost · 17/12/2011 16:40

Sorry to encroach on your frothing there ladies. Excellent work.

CardyMow · 17/12/2011 16:46

Sorry, disappeared for 24hrs, RL getting in the way. I had sleeeeeeeep. Grin. (Ex-P looked after ds3 so I could get a full nights sleep. 8 hours. I feeeeeeeel Goooooood!).

I am orf to read the blog - I will post my figures showing the difference between TC's and UC soon - before Christmas, as the 12 days thingy will be posting then. I'll try to get it up, erm, Wednesday if that's OK. I just need more time to actually finish double checking the sums.

I'll get twittering in a bit too.

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 16:50

Was wondering where you were, Hunty. It has been all quiet and non-mathsy without you.

CardyMow · 17/12/2011 17:18

Grin. I also had a TON of housework to do. New blog posts are good. I might try to write a small post on the hazards of being on a key meter for electricity and gas. About how much extra it costs you, and about how the fuel companies refuse to take out a key meter if you are on JSA or IS and you move into a property that has one.

My electricity 6 months ago on the Key meter was costing me £15 a week. Now I'm putting £25 a week on there. Seems a LOT more of a rise to me than the 18% that they claim. (CBA to do the maths on that though).

CardyMow · 17/12/2011 17:22

Oh - and heating and hot water is gas, so totally separate. It's the Hepa air filter I have to run in DS2's bedroom that costs a bomb, but since I started running it every night, about a year ago, he hasn't actually been admitted to hospital with his brittle asthma. It HAS made a difference - instead of being on oxygen and nebs in hospital when he has an attack, he is able to manage at home with prednisolone and inhalers. Before I started running it, he was admitted to hospital at LEAST 6 times a year!!

Thing is, if the leccy keeps going up, I'm going to have to decide between running the expensive air filter, that eases his asthma, or eating. Hobson's choice, there...

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 17:32

Hunty
We had thought of electricity company post for the 12 days - was it no 4 or 6?

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 17:35

£100 a month just for electricity? That is a lot is it not, for UK?

We pay CHF 250 for water and electricity ( about £150ish I think ATM) but that is a large 4 bed house in Switzerland

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 17:37

I pay £67 a month for electricity AND gas.

CardyMow · 17/12/2011 17:43

As I said - it's the HEPA air filter that slaps the cost up. But IMO, as it keeps him out of hospital, it's a necessity. Even if I AM on benefits now. Still no DLA to cover the extra cost of it though!

So I spend £100 a month on Leccy, and £25 a month on Gas (I put the same on the meter all year, to try to cover the winter, but it hasn't worked this year because of the rise in prices. I've run out of my 'back up' already, and am trying to cope week by week. Which I'm not.The £25 is more than I was putting on, I was only putting on £20 before the price rises)

CardyMow · 17/12/2011 17:48

I don't know if I can do a full blog post about the leccy thing - maybe just an addition to someone else's IYSWIM. I am getting a bit busy now, what with Christmas - I have sooooo much to do.

I need to get DD's main present, wrap the other presents, put the tree up (last minute due to 10mo DS3 - he'll pull it down all the time otherwise, leaving it as late as poss this year), make my mince pies, make the gingerbread tree decs (we don't do choc ones, we make and decorate gingerbread each year), and a hundred other jobs.

It's my first Christmas as a Lone Parent, and it is HARD WORK. Xmas Grin.

Though I am worried that this will be the last time I am able to save up and give the dc a proper christmas, with the way UC will affect us. Xmas Sad.

CardyMow · 17/12/2011 17:52

Everything I do seems to have a good side and a bad side. I would LOVE to be able to boycott Tescos - but I can't reach ANY other supermarket by public transport. And they are all probably doing it too. I feel like crap for putting more money into a company that exploits people like this, but I have no choice - I struggle to do internet food shopping as i can't order it until my benefits go INTO the bank - but then I need the food that day, so can't wait another 24hrs for delivery.

MmeLindor. · 17/12/2011 18:32

Hunty
Don't feel bad about it.

tbh, I am not really that frothy about Tesco. They are a company, they take what the government is offering and they are likely not the worst offenders when it comes to treating their workfare staff badly.

I am extremely frothy at the government for thinking for even ONE minute that this was a good idea.

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 18:41

YY. If the Government didn't create the system there wouldn't be a problem.

KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 18:43

I favourited a couple of posts on Twitter mentioning good blogs. I think at least one talks about the difference between UC, DLA and the current system if you want to take a look?

OP posts:
KateMiddlet0n · 17/12/2011 18:48

Hunty If you were on the cheapest tariff your bill would be so much less. It's a disgrace that the poorest are exploited by energy companies this way.

They also offer their cheapest tariffs online which excludes all those who cannot use the internet due to cost of education (disabled, poor, elderly, those who do not speak English etc etc).

evening all

had to take a break from frothering after hearing all about the 'troubleshooters' bollocks

have calmed down now to froth again

CardyMow · 17/12/2011 20:04

I'm with the cheapest leccy company for key meters that I can find - and I do a comparison every 12 weeks. Medical equipment costs a bomb to run. Between the filter and the nebuliser, my leccy bill is criminal. Xmas Grin
