I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

Zac's not a Lib Dem. He's a rich Tory. But he has a Twitter account and he needs to know the facts.

Tomorrow, we should try to get something viral going, like

Who are the #frothers?

Ready for garlic's blog.

I am still astounded that we're all here, doing stuff Shock It is fabulous.

Night all x

FuckYouGideon - I was so enraged yesterday that I felt like smashing my own house up.

Im still enraged. I wish he would fuck off and die somewhere.

CardyMow · 30/11/2011 23:28

hermionestranger · 30/11/2011 23:44

Still raging and wondering where things will go next, can the government really get away with everything they want to do?
Read about Smart strikes where union's try and hit the pockets of the council instead of making all union workers go on strike, they target the strike.

"The 1989 local government strike by Nalgo ? one of the unions that went on to make up Unison ? was a model strike. Seeking a higher pay rise, the union's members went on strike for one day in the first week, two days the next, and three days the following week. They were intent on going up to five days a week and then continuing on that basis. The ratcheting up of pressure meant the employers gave in after the third week."

It needs to be well co-ordinated, I know this thread isn't particularly about the strikes, my concern is, the ConDem Government are getting away with so much - they are doing what they want and there seems to be no stopping them.

My other thought on hitting them where it hurts is in banking. I know changing banks is hard but my Mum was telling me her Credit Union gives 3.5% interest which is pretty impressive compared to high street banks, it is a local bank, run for local people and profits go back to the people in the bank. They also give good rates on loans - again way better than high street banks - though I don't know how much better.

A Banker, a teacher, a Tory MP and a Daily Mail reader are sat around a table. In front of them is a plate, on which there are ten biscuits. The Banker scoffs nine of the biscuits and the Tory MP turns to the Daily Mail reader and whispers in his ear, "Watch out, that teacher is after your biscuit"

Haven't kept up with thread as I've been doing this: toomanycuts.blogspot.com/

Not too sure about the luminous, graffiti-led colour scheme, but I've got another one up my sleeve which has a grassy background and is mainly green & grey (no purple, not much orange.)

Votes please, and PM me with a GOOGLE email address to add you as an author. We also need some people who are familiar with Blogger to be administrators.

When it's got some posts, I'll work at promoting it. meanwhile, please link everything you can back to the blog - your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

If you're very keen, set up a Google profile and link to the blog - you can cross-link all over the net from there, and it helps with Google ranking.

Anybody fancies setting up a Facebook page, be my guest Wink It's possible to feed all the blog posts onto it but I'm hoping someone else will fix that up!

Oh, and it would be nice if the frothy blog could be on Mumsnet's blog circle, too?

garlicnutter · 01/12/2011 03:44

Thought I'd better add that I won't be upset if nobody likes it, somebody wants to do another one, or re-does the one I did Grin

Miaowww · 01/12/2011 06:13

Have only go halfway through this thread but just wanted to register my frothing before I leave for work (another lazy irresponsible public sector worker here). Things cannot go on like this and if anyone has a plan, then I'm in.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 01/12/2011 07:05

I have have frothed on Twitter. This is all before my morning cuppa and I am a Twitter Ignoramus but I think it worked.

SpringHeeledJack · 01/12/2011 07:50

just saw the front pages on BBC Breakfast

apparently the strike was nobbut a damp squib. Didn't even get a mention on some fps

woollyideas · 01/12/2011 08:02

Well the BBC website says:
Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude said ministers are prepared to alter what is currently being offered... (despite it all being a damp squib etc.)

So buck up Jack!

swallowedAfly · 01/12/2011 08:07

hi - sort of caught up.

on the blog front i could write about single mothers - there has been a lot of very targeted imo and unfair targeting of them in the cuts - both working and non working so it's very much ideological.

also able to write about the use of divisive tactics and spin that has been used to get them into power and then constantly banged out to cover their awful behaviour.

would like to write about the duping of the middle classes (or once were middle classes) into voting for these guys and the reality of what has been done to them so far as opposed to where they were prior to tories getting in. think the message REALLY needs to get out there to these people who will come to be a big part of the deciding vote i suspect and could go either way.

rambling but yes if the blog goes up i will help and i'm also going to revive my blog that i started after the riots talking about the dangerous tactics the government were using.

blah blah.

gotta get on and get the boy to school etc.

BIWI · 01/12/2011 08:14

Having read the paper this morning I am simmering even more. Especially to see the news that Dave has now cut the money being paid to trade union officials in the workplace. Angry

And the ever-lovely Jacob Rees-Mogg called for all Border Officials who went on strike to be sacked en masse Angry

A quick word of advice re Twitter - if you don't follow anyone and don't have any follwers you may find yourself blocked as a spammer, which would be a shame as you wouldn't get your message through. So can I urge everyone who is on Twitter to find everyone else and make sure we are all following each other?

I'm posting in my real name as well as my MN name. I'm not going to post it here, but you'll probably work that out once you see both names side-by-side Wink

Can we have a list of Twitter names here? I'll start with me:

@TheRealBIWI

swallowedAfly · 01/12/2011 08:18

@swallowedAflyMN here.

and here is something i wrote after the riots. the blog is called scapegoatsanctuary - i will get it up and running again. i was too depressed at it all to keep going before but i'm back in the must do something mode.

if you have a wordpress blog can you somehow connect that to hashtags?

swallowedAfly · 01/12/2011 08:19

anyone who bothers to read that please ignore the awful grammar etc Blush

BIWI · 01/12/2011 08:21

KnottyLocks · 01/12/2011 08:25

Jeremy Clarkson - what a darling.

Speaking on the One Show: "I'd have them all [strikers] shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families."

Wonder what his BBC pension is like?

Cameron's buddy, isn't he?

MissTinaTeaspoon · 01/12/2011 08:28

taps I love that joke - did you write it? Can I reproduce it? Grin

Sorry - not on Twitter but happy to sign petitions/email Smile

MissTinaTeaspoon · 01/12/2011 08:29

And Jeremy Clarkson should be the one taken outside Angry

Iggly · 01/12/2011 08:33

I popped in at the start of the thread and have been lurking. Will get onto twitter. Haven't tweeted yet, am @IWasIgglybuff

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 01/12/2011 08:41

I am turning into my mother. Someone save me please. How do I follow someone on Twitter, am using an iPhone . DH reckons I am following a couple of people but if I am that is by accident. Is it something to do with the yellow star ?

Iggly · 01/12/2011 08:46

Have you got the twitter app? It's easier that way. You search for the person, then you'll have the option to follow when you click on them.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 01/12/2011 09:10

Thanks Iggy. Have worked it out now but app will be useful so will sort that now .

BIWI · 01/12/2011 09:26
