On a lighter note, can I just ask for prayers for the right decision to be made in my heart whether or not to have a blessing for our silver wedding anniversary this summer, not sure if I feel it would be a farce, the way I have felt about dh recently - what happened to 'in sickness and in health'

We are supposedly having a garden party to celebrate, with dear family and friends, with my soul mate from younger years (who is a vicar) to bless us.

But all is on stand by atm, because of how I feel. Maybe its all normal, but you'd have thought after 25 years, I'd have worked through things by now, I just want to feel how I used to feel and can't quite reach it, its as if our relationship has been lost along the way.

Sorry I'm rambling, but it is really important to me to do the right thing, not just because its a milestone. Its just such hard work to be happy together, I feel I don't have much left to compomise with.

Maybe we ought to go back to our marriage guidance counselling before I make a mockery of our marriage. We only need Supernanny really, but dh hates her!

Sorry, this is one of those posts that you nearly press the cancel button for and wish you'd never typed

CaptainDippy · 18/03/2009 18:50

25 years, Soooz! That is impressive. I am not really too sure what to say .... I'll have a think and ocme back to you. Think the celebration sounds good though, it is good that you have stuck together for so long - well done!!

Wow ladies such a lot to pray for.

I have now done my 4 days manual handling training and start the job proper next Tues. It was a really intensive course with an hours exam and lots of practical sessions. I ended up having a bit of a funny turn on Mon after pretending to be the patient under the bright floresant lights and being rolled and turned for about half hour. I got off the bed and felt really wierd ended up collapsing in the chair and being manually handled out of the room lol. Have a sore throat today so maybe al build up to that.

Going to optitians tomorrow as my right eye feels really wierd - please pray it is just something simple like i'm ageing and need glasses.

Also prayers for a miracle would be good as I have seen a lot of house for not that lot of money really, but need mine to be worth enough for xdh to agree to remortgage, to be able tto get a mortgage in present climate and to be able to sell mine of course. I know that really selfish prayer but extra space would be fantastic.

DutchOma · 18/03/2009 20:46

Soozi, having you mariage blessed after 25 years, especially since you feel you have 'lost the plot' a bit seems a really good idea. God can work miracles in a marriage and He wants you to succeed. Maybe your vicar friend can have a chat with your dh beforehand and find out from him how he feels about your marriage. Does he know how you feel?
I pray that you may both be blessed by God, in and out of you marriage.

Clockface · 19/03/2009 09:00

Hello, it's your long lost friend Clockface here!

Sorry I'm not posting much at the mo. . Anyway could I cheekily ask for your prayers (says she who has hardly shown her virtual face round here for months).

I am going to look at two propective schools for the dc today. They both sound really nice. My mum is coming with me and we are going to lunch at the college where I'll hopefully be studying from Sept, so it's also an opportunity for me to show my mum where we'll be (and hopefully for her to feel that she's part of it all, that we're not abandoning her etc). My mum and I are v. close and see each other at least a few times a week, normally phone every day so to be moving to a different county is a big thing. I know loads of people move away from extended family but we will feel it.

So if you could pray for today, for wisdom in knowing what to look for / what to say at the schools, and for a real blessing upon me and my mum and our time together, I'd be so grateful. Thank you!

DutchOma · 19/03/2009 09:17

Sorry, CF. I missed a bit here. Will you all be moving to Oxford in September if you get the go ahead for training?

Notquitegrownup · 19/03/2009 10:49

I promise not to stalk you CF, but it would be lovely to meet up for a coffee, if you are moving this way! And if you need any advice/the local gossip on local schools etc, just yell.

Hi again!

Sooz praying for you. {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Well thank you all for praying yesterday - what marvellous people you are! . NQGU sorry I didn't see your offer of coffee - it would have been great to see you! I'm sure I'll be back over your way before long. I'll email you...

And DO yes, we are (hopefully) upping sticks and moving. So lots of preparation / work involved. After lots of thought we felt it would actually be better for the dc (and for me and dh), for all sorts of reasons. It's not a million miles away from home so we can still see their grandparents v. regualrly. It is a big thing though, isn't it, moving?

Justa, in terms of how high up the candle, I'd say about halfway up! . Certainy compared to the other two local vicar-spewer-outers it's very 'proud to occupy the middle ground'. How very English!

So, the schools both looked really nice. The one closest to where we'll (hopefully) be has a place for dd but not for ds. Grrr! The next closest one has places for both, but getting them there could be tricky. Hmmm. I'm sure it'll all work out. The things that yesterday showed me beyond any dobt were:

a) the dc must be in the same school. Moving house is a big deal and they'll need to know that the other is nearby. Putting them in two separate schools would be pointless and cruel.

b) if the church does decide to let me train for ordained ministry, this is definitely the place where I want to be and want mt family to be for two years. It has more children than students! How cool is that?!Yippeeeeeeee!

amber32002 · 20/03/2009 10:54

Prayers continuing for everyone.

Clockface, very good news about your college etc.

What a day. Our big old dog woke up with a leg that doesn't want to work, so it was off to the emergency vets for her, and at the same time the downstairs loo decided to flood so the plumber had to rush round.

This is not going to be my year, is it.
