Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Just reporting back .....

Girl's hair looking a lot better. DD2's looks like it did when was about 2.5 yrs (took us FOREVER to grow it into a lovely bob ) and they have cut out all the blonde as well!! DD1's hair looks ... erm .... very French .... very chic .... VERY VERY short! Still looks pretty horrendeous at the back where she chopped down to the scalp, but should it ok in a few weeks, I hope They look heaps better anyway and I did get a "confession" from DD1 .... she did all the cutting as DD2 didn't have the dexterity for the scissors (obviuosly my nearly 5 year old didn't use the word 'dexterity' ) So there you go ..... deep sigh ....

Oh MJIM - you are gorgeous and made in God's image - so there!!

FAQtothefuture · 24/01/2009 16:19

well I've had a lovely day today so far.

H came over just after 11 to sit with the boys while I went to town to get my haircut and buy a cardigan to wear over my dress tonight. He arrived with tobacco from Asda (he rang me when in there to check which the cheap one I wanted was), and when he arrived he was also carrying a dozen roses (not red ones, peachy coloured, but I'm not complaining), and a bottle of wine incase we fancy carrying on drinking after the meal .

Went and got my haircut, and was in town about 3hrs he left about an hour ago and will be back tonight just before 8 to pick me up

M44 · 24/01/2009 16:30

Thank you for your prayers. Can you pray that I don't get down following my horrible stay in hospital. I'm left feeling very vulnerable after the way I was treated on the gynae ward, to the point where I have been encouraged to make a formal complaint. I need to get my head together first.

CD - for dd's hair, bless you, I remember ds1 doing it with a shaver when he was 4

MJIM - 'bodyimage' whoah!!!!!! look at your profile, wish mine was like that. Prayers for you to feel better though, having dc doesn't help does it! time, money etc. I'd love to be a yummy mummy! look really hard in the playground, we all look the same?????(ish)

Amber - prayers for you.

Mary - Prayers for Oct 31, lots to do before then then??????

SNOW DOME NEXT WEEKEND!!!!!!! Yeeeeha! Prayers the dc stay healthy this week, or it will get cancelled again! I think we have cancelled it 5 times now, through illnesses.

BouncingTartan · 24/01/2009 17:26

CD - eek about the dds hair. It WILL grow back. I suggest you take pictures to embarrass dd1 when she is older lol.

MJIM - you are lovely! But IKWYM, I suffer from poor body image too.

FAQ - this sounds very promising! BTW I looked up the meaning of the colour of your roses. Peach signifies 'Sincerity, Gratitude, Appreciation, Modesty, Admiration, Sympathy'
Hope it all goes well tonight!

M44 - for you, how awful to hear you had such a bad time in the hospital. Do complain, hopefully it'll improve things for others. How are you feeling, is the pain still very bad?

Zipi - that sounds like fun!

Had a lovely day visiting and having lunch out with friends. Ds had a lovely time with his little friend.

Can you ask to pray for my friend and her dp? Her dp has had little access to his little dd since June as his exgf(who broke their relationship by cheating on him several times and then didn't tell him she was pg!) is being very awkward Please pray that she sees that she is needlessly hurting her daughter by stopping her seeing her daddy Friend and dp and having to go to court as arrangements for him to see his dd keep getting broken.

Will keep all of you in my prayers, this thread has been so wonderful and refreshing and has helped me keep a prayerful focus in my every day!

FAQtothefuture · 24/01/2009 17:30

oooo well you learn something new everyday (mind you I doubt he'd have had any idea of the meaning of the colour, I reckon it was just what they had in Asda when he was in there LOL)

FAQtothefuture · 24/01/2009 17:32

oh and he also said that if I ever want to do something at the weekend, or in the eveening "childfree" if he's not busy he's quite happy to come and "babysit" for me

CaptainDippy · 24/01/2009 17:37

Have fun tonight FAQ

Thank you again to my generous and supportive 'christian prayers thread' for the gift vouchers (yes I know its been nearly a year) I'm glad we've waited though, cause I wouldn't have enjoyed it last year, my depression is alot better now and the bank balance will just get us there in petrol & pic-nic oh well!

ZipadiSoozi · 24/01/2009 18:32

OOOOOOH! FAQ have a looooooovely evening!

ZipadiSoozi · 24/01/2009 18:38

MJIM - I know what you mean about feeling beautiful when pregnant, it's lovely isn't it. I suppose we are comfortable because we have a reason to be bigger, and just the joy of growing that little bean in our body makes us feel very special and happy! Even though I looked like a house with twins and was constantly sick!

Swaliswan · 24/01/2009 20:30

Evening Ladies,

Just wanted to come on and thank anyone who has prayed for me following my post yesterday. I'm feeling a lot better today even though I had a terrible night's sleep. Am missing DH terribly (third TA weekend in a row). I'm just going to watch Casualty, do the washing up and then go to bed. Looking forward to church tomorrow

notsofarnow · 24/01/2009 21:02

sorry girls not been round again have I. Have tried to catch up but too many to mention by name.

M44 sorry that you have had such an awful time I would be horrified if I was responsible for a patient feeling awful.

I go back to work on Monday after 10 wks on the sick so prayers appreciated because as i understand it the ward is manic - on fri I dont think they had any gynae patients but loads of medical patients.

Praying we all have good day tomorrow. Dd has just walked in and told me that they have put her down to work tomorrow 7a.m start so guess who has to take her.

cd my dd cut her hair off 11 yrs ago she shaved it with a pair of Ikea scissors on both sides of her head it was horrendous and to make matters worse she didnt have any hair till she was 2 1/2 and she was 3 at the time. You will laugh at this later.

CaptainDippy · 24/01/2009 23:19

Soooz, sounds fabbo!!

Boing!!

Praying for you as you go back to work NSFN. xx How's poorly DD doing? Thinking of you. xx

MJIM - Ditto - I felt glorious when I was PG, my skin was lovely and I could just be huge and not care. Now I am not PG any more, I get plenty of days when I just think YUK!

If you are my FB friend, there are pics of my girls hair: before, during, after for you too see!!

Night! xx
