Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Esp thinking of Rev this evening after seeing some of the nastiness. Stay strong x

CaptainDippy · 21/01/2009 07:19

Stay strong Rev xx

Love and Prayers to all. xxxx

MaryBS · 21/01/2009 07:51

Prayers for the Rev, hang in there, you are doing a good thing!

Welcome fatandIknowit (nothing like a bit of honesty!). A few months back I visited a NF church in Cambridge, and found it a very uplifting experience. They made me feel really welcome, and that was fantastic too!

Praying for everyone else...

fatandiknowit · 21/01/2009 11:57

Hi myjobis I'm in Verwood - not very exciting though the bright lights of Bournemouth are near enough - how about you?

jently DEFINITELY number 1 - that's scary enough for the moment!

Hope you are all blessed today - the sun is shining here and I'm on the 2 ww before i test for number 1.

OK ladies, just wanted to ask you to add 31 October to your diaries... Anyone who fancies attending my licensing (God willing I complete the course) is welcome

FAQtothefuture · 21/01/2009 18:57

oh wow - fantastic . I shall certainly endevaour to be there (somehow LOL).

I must email you about the move > it's all turning out to be a pita, think I'll have to send you the money and you'll have to book it as they won't let as I don't have a driving license

Good news, I spoke to my Vicar today, the delay in the form filling has been because there's some bits she was having trouble filling in

"salary" - well she doesn't get a salary she gets a stipend and didn't actually know what it was so she had to ring someone in Peterborough to ask LOL

"NI number" - she's over 60 so stopped using it a wile back and didn't have a clue where it was.

"Housing" - well obviously she lives in the vicarage, but she's also a home owner in her own right.

I told her to just fill in what she could, with a note next to anything that didn't quite make sense and if they wanted more information they'd probably ring her (and it would probably be easier to explain over the phone than in a tiny box on a form).

She says she'll definitely have it back with me by tomorrow evening so hopefullly everything will still happen in the time frame I was hoping for

M44 · 21/01/2009 19:28

hello-just had had an unexpected stay in hospital-burst ovarian cyst. Fortunately got away without surgery-very sore still however.

Dh can't take any more time off work-please pray I get a chance to rest and recover.

Thank you..

CaptainDippy · 21/01/2009 20:34

Oh gosh M44 Glad it didn't require surgery, praying for swfit recovery sweetie. xx

Email me more about your licensing Mary ....

DutchOma · 21/01/2009 20:55

Please pray that I can be patient with my dh, who as you can imagine does things completely differently to how I would do things. FOr example whilst still in masses of pain he expected me to sit on a hard dining room chair to eat my tea and got really grumpy when I said I wouldn't sit in the dining room, partly because of pain and partly as I felt rubbish and just couldn't cope with the noise of four children. He doesn't like me resting upstairs- he wants me to rest on the sofa downstairs with a 2 year clamboring all over me! He sits down -falls asleep- he even fell asleep in the armchair in hospital when he came to collect me. I now feel compelled just to get up and get on with everything (diswasher loading, washing, cooking etc) because I feel so guilty about being ill. AAAARGH why do we put up with it. He is going to work today leaving me with the two little ones.....AIBU?

Dea God grant me patience!

BouncingTartan · 22/01/2009 08:12

M44 - sorry to hear about your op, pray God you have a smooth recovery. at your DH, men can be clueless at times!I think you may have to spell it out to him!

FatandIknowit - welcome! How exciting, TTCing no.1! That's how I found MN, looking for information on conception and health! Pray God to watch over you and your future dc.

FAQ - Phew, glad it is nearly sorted! How's the packing going, have you much left to do?

Blessings to everyone else

DS is so much happier this morning, devoured half a banana and an enormous bowl of porridge and has been busy throwing balls out of ball pool at our cat. Fortunately for our patient and much abused(by ds who adores kitty but hasn't quite got the hang of stroking him gently) furry friend, DS's aim is rather poor. He did amuse DS by chasing the balls arounnd!

M44 · 22/01/2009 08:31

Fortunately didn't have an op- but it is still beep painful as it burst, but the docs felt it was ok to leave it- however if pain gets worse or have a temp then I have to go back.

CaptainCaveman · 22/01/2009 08:58

Praying for your swift recovery M44, and for patience with your dh. YOU need rest (as you know) - do you have any friends who could help you out for an hour or so, allowing you to rest?

Mary fab news re licensing , I will also put it in my diary - we could have a meet up???!!!

DutchOma · 22/01/2009 09:34

M44 - it's not you who needs to spell it out but your doctor - or dare i say it your vicar.
He is totally unreasonable, the only excuse you can bring in - and it is VERY feeble - is that he is worried to death about you and wants you to be "normal". Wishful thinking to the highest degree and not to be put up with. Hope the two little ones are behaving themselves for you.

Just sitting waiting for the agent to come and pick up the guarantor information form to fax off

CaptainDippy · 22/01/2009 10:12

Oooh, praying it all goes smoothly FAQ xx She XH recently!!!?

FAQtothefuture · 22/01/2009 10:17

yes "H" (he's not quite a "DH" again yet, but doesn't really warrant the "ex" bit lol) was round yesterday bleeding some of the radiators .

He'll be round again today (probably briefly) to return my dyson that he borrowed yesterday (just as well as it really needed doing yesterday because of 2 days worth of rice cripsies crushed into it, and today's shreddies added to it )

DutchOma · 22/01/2009 10:50

Do you want a hand? At least I am close enough to you to offer? Can do this afternoon or tomorrow?

DutchOma · 22/01/2009 10:53

Dippy, sorry about dd1's hair, but it will grow again, of course it will. Wait till she comes home with a tattoo.
