CaptainCaveman · 09/06/2008 19:21

Prayers for OJ and her family, God rest Steve's soul.

Prayers for your friend WM, a lot can change in 10 years. I pray for hope and new discoveries which may change the prognosis for your friend.

Hello and welcome to helibee - this is such a lovely uplifting thread. It has allowed me to explore my own fellowship needs and to grow more confident in declaring my faith and relationship with God. We will of course pray for you too.

House viewing went well but the garden is too small for the people who viewed. The right person will turn up, I am confident of God's plans for us, even if I have no idea what they are!

CD what a brave decision to leave your church - that must have taken some deciding. Prayers for your car to be fixed!!

CaptainDippy · 09/06/2008 20:06

Hey CC! How's it going??

OP posts:
Weegiemum · 10/06/2008 06:54

I have been praying for you guys through the night. I have been up with a &!&^&* kidney stone! It's always a risk when I have a UTI, hasn't happened for a while, but has this time.

Trying to decide whether to go to hospital or not. It would get me out of exams! But I hate the places and might be better off riding it out at home.

Please pray for me, its exceptionally painful and I get very tense as I had so much bother for so long with them and it all comes rushing back.

MaryBS · 10/06/2008 07:50

Weegie, get yourself down that hospital. Your health is more important!!!

CD - when did you give out you'd changed church, missed that...

A bit about the retreat. We were 5 plus the course leader. It was like we'd known each other all our lives, from the moment we met. We joined together in worship, Friday night, 4 times on Saturday, and Sunday for a Eucharist. 2 of those on the course were accomplished pianists, so we were accompanied as we worshipped, and we sang our hearts out in praise! The "quiet" times we spent together, and they weren't always quiet but they WERE spent in fellowship. We shared meals together too (and they were scrumptious - I've probably put on weight!). Saturday night, at Compline (night prayer, the last of the 4 services), the air was obviously filled with the holy spirit, it was THICK with atmosphere. Something happened that night, it was obvious God had brought us together to be there together that weekend. We all felt truly blessed! Sunday's Eucharist, instead of a sermon, we went and sat in the lounge and had coffee, and shared our thoughts on the readings, before returning to the chapel to continue. It was TOTALLY incredible.

Anyway, please pray for:
Janice who has MS
Kevin, who has terminal cancer
Ruth - going for selection for ordained ministry (takes place 16/17 June, next week)
Susan and John (who have asked me not to give out details publicly, but if you want to know what you're praying for, email me - very poignant)

I forgot to say that the retreat centre was stunningly beautiful, the gardens were out of this world. So well planned and full of little bits of symbolism. What struck me deeply was the large cross as a focal point in the lawn, empty save for a 3 pointed crown (Christ the king or 3 points for each of the Trinity?). There was a rock at the base. I took that to mean laying your troubles at the cross. As I prayed for various situations, I'd put a pebble to signify, next to the rock, laying troubles before God...

Elsewhere there were 3 shells on a bench, near a small running waterfall (symbolising baptism?).

mufti · 10/06/2008 08:40

sounds wonderful Mary, wherabouts on the country?, perhaps we can all go for our meet up!

ZipadiSuzy · 10/06/2008 10:56

Sad news of Steve, prayers for such a courageous lady Jo! may Steve now rest in peace, prayers for the dc, glad they got their birthday and fathers day in! so sad, prayers for family peace!

Notquitegrownup · 10/06/2008 13:19

Good morning all. Flying by and continuing to pray for cvq and all on this thread.

MaryBS · 10/06/2008 18:05

Its near Chelmsford Mufti. Unfortunately, not really suitable for little ones, as there would be nothing for them to do there, plus there is a river at the bottom of the lawn.

mufti · 10/06/2008 18:15

ah, very peaceful setting by the sounds of it

all well with the Pandas, just very very busy!

love to all x

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 08:51

Good glorious morning! What a wonderful day the Lord has created - I am indeed glad in it!

Came home from work early yesterday as feeling very breathless. Midwife popped round to check me over, all ok but ordered to rest. I don't need telling twice! Off for the rest of the week and have booked myself a pedicure for this morning. Feeling loads better today as I slept lots yesterday.

Praise God my friend is in labour (41 weeks). Praying for a safe delivery for her and baby.

Weegiemum · 11/06/2008 10:47

Hi ladies.

I am still at home, as I am pretty hospital-phobic (too many bad experiences "oooh, we can give you some paracetamol for the mind bending pain you are in" etc ...)

Passed one kidney stone last night, another is passing today so I am sore but coping.

Have an exam tomorrow (History of Evangelicalism interesting!!!) so reading about Spurgeon (not interesting at all - Bl**dy arrogant male 19th C preacher!) when I am pain free... my it is boring!

podglet · 11/06/2008 11:05

Hello all,

Popping by again just to say praying for all. Not feeling too brilliant here at the moment got the Dr's tomorrow for the 8 week check ups and DD's first injections. The HV has suggested I ask for CBT to help with the depression she suspects I have

Mary - I live about 20 mins from Chelmsford and have no idea where you are talking about! Glad you enjoyed it, it sounds wonderful.

Also to add that I have finally plucked up the courage and took the DC's to the local church on Sunday. I really enjoyed it there was a christening during the service so the church was full, and there was a brilliant play area for the children so DS was a really good boy - he put his hand out for a "biscuit" during communion (and even said "ta" but obviously didn't get one!) and gave the organist a round of applause at the end

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 11:53

Praying for you and your gp visit Podglet. Was it you that had hydramnios when pg? Or was that bobsmum?

Praying you are soon feeling better too Weegiemum and that all goes great in your exams!

ZipadiSuzy · 11/06/2008 12:47

CC - Ooh how u copeing in this loooovely weather, I remember fainting (in the car) and having a scan (whilst laying down) WHEN I was pregnant.

Aw bless, it goes toooo quickly, I can't stop looking at the twins, trying to bottle every moment, before they start school,

Thank you God for this lovely weather, dc have loved the paddling pool for a few days now.

Makes me yearn for a beach holiday

ZipadiSuzy · 11/06/2008 13:47

Quick prayer request for neighbour of 47 years, its his funeral at 2.30pm prayers for his wife and children

podglet · 11/06/2008 14:01

Hi CC, yes it was me with the hydramnios (or as it's known here "big as a house" syndrome!) - is everything ok?

Prayers for yuor neighbours Sooz.

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 14:20

Hey Sooz! Lovely weather in NOtts eh?!

I'm ok Podglet, just a little worried about the enormity of my girth! Fundal height measurements have gone from 23cm @ 25 weeks to 35cm @30 weeks (12cms in 5 weeks). Seems big to me but mw not mentioned it. I also felt short of breath and had lots of rib pain yesterday so I came home from work and have taken the rest of the week off.
I called the mw yesterday and she checked me over but didn't do fundal height measurement (I did it myself when she'd gone!) I'm seeing the cons tomorrow at the 'small for gestational age' clinic - how ironic..... How did the hydramnios make you feel physically?

Praise God, my friend and her dh have had a little boy

ZipadiSuzy · 11/06/2008 14:46

CC - twins????

helibee · 11/06/2008 15:14

hi, just a quick post-

weegiemum I'm praying for you, i had kidney stones for a month in feb this year and i'm also prone to uti's so i really sympathise (yes the paracetemol comments at a&e make you want to scream-esp as i take tramadol for my FM anyway!! ) If you need to ask for some dihydrocodeine, it works very well.

Prayers for OJ and the family

My ds has a temp of 39.5 - 40.2 and he's developed a rash, doc is keping an eye on him but please pray that he's on the mend soon!

CC-praying for you too
