@Craftycorvid I will light a candle for him, chest infections are nasty.

I think I need everyone's thoughts and wishes, I've had a difficult conversation with my dad this morning. My dd1 is staying with my parents, following dd2's crisis last year (she has complex needs) and seems to be blaming dp. So, do my parents, though, they have "promised" and won't really tell me what the problem is. I suppose, I am at least a little clearer what they think. Families, I thought we all had a good relationship and now I'm trying to navigate it.

FizzingAda · 27/01/2025 19:27

Hope Mr Crafty is better soon 💐

Craftycorvid · 27/01/2025 22:16

Thank you for all your good wishes and thoughts. Mr Crafty is doing a lot better today. He’s on IV antibiotics and they’ve taken effect really quickly.

@quirkychick I’m sorry for your trouble. Families are so complex!

speakout · 28/01/2025 07:33

That's great news Craftycorvid.

Be sure to take some time for yourself today.x

That's really good news, @Craftycorvid. I hope he's home well soon.

Craftycorvid · 29/01/2025 21:32

Evening! Mr Crafty is home. Poor old boy is knackered and has already gone to bed. Fully clothed. On top of the bed. 😂

Thank you for all the good wishes.

speakout · 30/01/2025 08:04

craftycorvid glad to hear Mr C is home. He will need to catch up with sleep and rest. I know I often howl about self care, but situations like this are stressful and draining. Make sure you rest too.
quirkychick I hope there will be some resolution soon. It's so hard to navigate families, that's difficult if your parents are withholding information.
My extended family have many secrets and lies, there are big gaps surrounding events, and no one wants to tell me the truth. When I ask I am shut down, so I have stopped asking, even though it would give me clarity with events that had a big impact on me as a child and as an adult. I haven't spoken to my sister at all for many years, but I am very close to her daughter ( now a mother too and in her 40s).
The relationship I have with my niece has deepened over the years, she used to feel like the "black sheep" in her family, but we have a relationship built on authenticity and truth. She told me that I give her a sense of "belonging" in her family again. Her mother- my sister- is an ultra conservative baptist, and raised her children in that warped abusive life model. Now an atheist my niece struggles to maintain a relationship with her parents and sister. Her whole world and support fell away when she became an atheist, and is dealing with the CPTSD that her upbringing gave her. Religion harms so many people, gives permission and foundations for destructive behaviour, views and societial structure. Gives greedy men the mandate to hold power over women, other people, animals and the poor earth itself.
My magical journey and views of the feminine are deeply entwined. Tools to claim back what is ours, our power and voice.
Thie patriarchy serves only a few- those men that rule, the women who serve as hapless handmaidens in return for eternal childhood. Many men are not served either, those who sit outside the win or die camp are ostracised.
We are all in need of more feminine energy and power to balance the scales which have tipped over too far and created such inequities and harmful economic models.

I hope the new moon in aquarius brings fresh energy for those in need of a new star. Jupiter and Mercury aid this energy and help us clear the clutter in order to find and set our intentions.
I have a slow day planned, plenty time for pottering and thinking about fresh simple food. Imbolc energies are rising, I love this sabbat, soft light, full of the most tender nurturing energy of Bridgit.

@speakout thank you for the video, I will catch up with that later. Thank you also for your kind words. Luckily, I had a therapy session this week to thrash out some of the family issues (I had a lovely Yin session, yesterday, too which helped). Up until last summer, I thought my parents were very supportive but just when I needed them, they haven't been.

One of my close friends through school had Scottish Baptist parents and I saw what that upbringing did to her. So, I have some sympathy for your niece, as I remember as a teenager thinking how much it had damaged her - it was not a good advert for religion and probably had some influence on me turning towards Paganism and magic (I'm still dipping my toe).

I hope the new moon brings a new start for us all too.

speakout · 30/01/2025 14:59

quirkychick I am so glad that your therapy session and yin yoga have helped you this week.
We are all touched by religion, even if we are atheists we cannot escape a society that is built on christian principles. So it isn't a "personal" choice.
If the christian god was someone's husband we would be suggesting Women's Aid.
A husband who convinces his wife that she is bad or broken, and he is the only one to save her. Also if she doesn't love him he will set the garage on fire and lock her inside.

My niece has rejected the church as much as she can, but she was raised believing that she was broken and sinful, and in debt to some middle eastern goat herder in the middle east thousands of year ago. She has damage that runs deep/ None of it makes any sense, christians tie themselves into a pretzel explaining how it all hangs together.

I am just back from a walk in my wolf wood, two deers spotted me before I noticed them, we made eye contact before trotting off. The sun illuminated the forest floor through bare branches. The floor of the forest was carpeted in snowdrops, making the most of the sunshine before leaves start sprouting on the overhead branches.
I had thoughts of clarity, authenticity and bright energy. And a powerful metaphor of the eye surgery I have booked for next week.
I had intended to cut some snowdrops to bring home and I had scissors in my pocket- but despite there being thousands of flowers I couldn't bring myself to cut them These tiny plants are pushing for survival, drinking in the brief sunlight, and apart from sticking them is a vase to admire I had no real need to have them.
So I left empty handed, I did take some photos of the flowers and the abundant lichen- those will serve me.

Off to go freezer diving to look out some food for dinner, I am determined to use food stocks I already have rather than buying more.

I love that quote @speakout and may have to steal it!

Your wolf wood sounds amazing. I need to get back to nature walks, though I managed a lovely walk and café with a friend the other day.

magnummum · 01/02/2025 08:27

Imbolc blessings to you all.

speakout · 01/02/2025 12:51

Blessed Imbolc sisters.
Such a wonderful sunny day here, a hint of spring energy around the corner.
I arrived early for my Body Balance class this morning, the fire doors were open and I had a view of a tiny courtyard outside.
I listened to a chorus of birdsong and saw these beautiful signs of life, purple periwinkle flowers known for their powers of protection, cleansing and love, and a type of tree catkin- not sure of the species, if any of you wildlife witches know please enlighten me!
I have also just booked a woman's circle on the 24th Feb, the theme is self love, with sound bath, oracle reading and guided meditation. I won't be back at yoga for a few weeks,so this sounds perfect.

Blessings at Imbolc, witches!
You are so right about the snowdrops, speakout. I have a few in what remains of my garden (sob, long term building site). Here they are, poking through, despite all the despoliation. Wonderfully cheering!

quirkychick · 01/02/2025 13:02

Imbolc blessings, everyone. It was sunny this morning but is cloudy now. I am off to an Earthstar workshop this afternoon, run by my Yin teacher, who is also a holistic practitioner. It is Chakra dancing and Yin Yoga, so I'm hoping it is very healing.

Those photos are lovely @speakout and thank you for the video on Imbolc, I have seen some of her others.

FizzingAda · 01/02/2025 13:42

Blessed Imbolc! There is a little warmth in the sunshine this 🌅 morning, there are bulbs coming through, and snowdrops in flower. The days are drawing out.

Imbolc blessings to you all!
I hope you don't mind if I make myself known? I've lurked for a long time, and generally keep myself to myself, but I have felt a need to connect to others on the same path lately, as I feel I am missing the shared joy to be had on the sabbats and with what mother nature and the seasons offer us. Usually I just write things down in a journal, but I have been feeling a bit alone of late (no one in my daily life understands or feels the same, my husband is mildly amused by my "childlike joy of the natural world and love of old nonsense", but being very scientifically and logically minded, everything has to have an explanation etc). So, as today marks the season of gentle awakenings, demonstrated by bulbs nudging up through the earth, I am having a gentle awaking too, with reaching out to other like minded souls! I have lit a candle with thoughts of peace and kindred spirits in my heart, to share my love of this way of life and thinking with you all

speakout · 01/02/2025 16:18

A warm welcome LostInAMist , grab a seat by the fire and a cuppa.

I love the way you describe your spiritual awakening being linked to Imbolc.
I will light a candle too this evening to connect with everyone here.
I am glad that your OH is accepting of your path, although as a fellow scientist I have no dissonance between my craft and the logical world, there are no contradictions.
The afternoon light is fading now and I am mulling over what to have for dinner.
Soon I will draw the curtains, put on the lamps and light candles.
I will spend this evening curled up on a sofa with tea and cats.
Doesn't get much better!!
