I thought it would be lovely to share tracks that people feel reach them in a spiritual way. 🙂

I'd like to start with this:

There is a beautiful selkie song they do as well!

heyhohello · 21/01/2024 08:31

@Haggisfish3, very atmospheric. You might like this. I watched her film The Tape last night on Amazon. 🙂

I am alive. Because sometimes that's enough. ⬆️

Letsrunabath · 21/01/2024 17:19

I’m going to make a playlist of these, thank you to everyone for sharing.

Creating a dream by Xavier Rudd. For optimism.

I love the Deep Purple original of this, there’s been some outstanding covers by the great and good of metal and rock - but this version is the one that moves me most

@PullUpTheDrawbridge, yes, gratitude and hope and optimism come through well in both these tracks. 🙂

@Kdtym10, the lyrics to the Era song you posted are very intriguing, I can see layers of (concealed) meaning. What do they mean to you?

@Kdtym10 yes, that Deep Purple cover is indeed very moving.

@Begaydocrime94, yes, a brilliant reminder of our connection with each other as human beings!🙂

@Kdtym10 , what a beautiful video. I've never seen Ritchie's version of that song, although I love the original.

For more spiritually inclined stuff, she also has a track called ancient dreams in a modern land which is quite poppy and upbeat but also quite ethereal - lots of great lyrics about being an Observer, breaking out from the mould of 'normal life' etc. I remember hearing it for the first time when I was in the throes of a spiritual awakening and feeling like the reminders in the song had come along at the exact right time. she also has a song called man's world which I remember listening to on the peak of a psychadelic experience and viscerally feeling the pain of women through the ages. god I miss 2021 :)

heyhohello · 22/01/2024 13:12

@Begaydocrime94, ooh thanks for the recommendation! I'll have to look them up.

There’s so many versions of the song its
really hard to pick one. I think the lyrics are incredible.

I find the tune as a whole about a unity (of everything) the divine.a prayer to lift us up to the universe/God. I’ve seen some people link it to the Templars which is intriguing

@Kdtym10, thanks for your reply, certainly gives food for thought.

What do you get from them (snd the tune generally)?

@Kdtym10, that's a difficult one...the melody I found to be quite uplifting but I didn't really completely understand the lyrics or any translations I attempted to find.

References to 'alewife' (female brewer) and Tallistan (hidden place) speaks of creation/creative forces - life. And then a bit at the end translated as desires, fathers and sensuality. So it makes me think of fertility and creation of life, I think. I suppose that's where the union / unity comes in...

Not immediately accessible though, hence I thought of layers of concealed meanings.

@Kdtym10 sorry it's kitsch (if you're offended by that kind of thing), but after writing that this did come to mind:

So, so many. Because it's an awesome classic. The lyrics are heartbreaking and thought-provoking in equal measure, I think.
I always found it weird that Ritchie Blackmore (a favourite of teenage me!) didn't like it.

Lessstressedhemum · 22/01/2024 17:06

I'm not sure if spiritual is the right word for this one, maybe thought provoking. I just find it really apt and heart rending. So spiritual but in a different way to some of the other songs which are more comforting. Sometimes our souls need challenged, though.
On a very, very shallow note, JLT was one of my very first music crushes😁
