hello all

thanks for the roundup CD

been to Bible study this morning, was really good. we are looking at Colossians atm, the talk was about taking off our old self and putting on the new, a biyt like a Trinny and Susannah makeover, but the difference being we change from gthe inside out, and that the cheque the TandS guinea pigs get to buy new clothes is for £2000, yet the cheque God gives us for our new clothes is blank, and signed in Jesus' blood. Good stuff!

CaptainDippy · 29/02/2008 12:18

Hi Panda - good stuff indeed!

Well done CD! Just remember you and Panda, that the first shall be last and the last shall be first!

I've just got up . Have been in bed with a cold. I set off to go to work, decided I wasn't up to driving so turned round and came home and I've been in bed ever since. It did help though!

DutchOma · 29/02/2008 13:13

Well done Dippy!! Thank you!!
Hope you soon feel better Mary, are you all stuffed up or is it more than that?

ZipadiSuzy · 29/02/2008 13:45

Fabulous round up yet again CD - when I read all that I am grateful for my own happiness atm
(apart from having flu type symptoms and off work again)

Thank you lord!

Prayers for everybody to have a lovely weekend, hope this rain stops!!

MaryBS · 29/02/2008 14:13

I'm all stuffed up, but had a headache too. I think as well, I've been overdoing it plus not getting enough sleep.

Next week will be VERY busy - I have to finish preparing TWO sermons, one for my tutorial, and one which is an assessed sermon in my church. I'm also leading worship at the Womens World Day of Prayer and also meeting up with my SD. Please God, help me complete it all in time and to YOUR glory!

Hope you feel better soon too Sooz.

MaryBS · 29/02/2008 15:28

I just want to say thank you God for giving me a kick up the butt when I needed it. I also want to thank God for NQGU who sent me that book by Corrie Ten Boom. I feel a little ashamed of myself when I read about her faith and what she has been through, but I know CTB wouldn't have wanted that, nor would God, so I'll quote this bit from a Gospel song written by blind composed Fanny J Crosby:

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.

After I read this I cried, then I heard the words in my head "call the Autism helpline". So I looked it up on the internet. I've not yet got to speak to a counsellor, but I was pointed to a web page. I've phoned a support group that offers training for parents of children aged 4-8, and a support group offering a social setting for children to play and parents to talk. STILL not got to speak to anyone, but I've made contact, and that's important!

Finallt, as I re-read that verse above, I realise it can be sung to the tune of the verse of Christ be our Light, and then keeping "Christ be our light" as the chorus. Praise him, for he works wonders.

CaptainDippy · 29/02/2008 17:11

That is improtant, Mary - hope someone contacts you soon to talk about things. xx

Praying for all who are yukky and stuffed up atm, inc Sooz and Mary. xx

Why can't men do anything without getting frustrated, cross and angry and everything and everyone around them!!!?

That was a rhetoric Q btw!

PandaG · 29/02/2008 17:16

just heard a friend is in hospital having an op after coming off his bike this morning. He (L) and family are Christians. please pray.

DutchOma · 29/02/2008 20:06

I had a message from BobsMum. She is very well, but, by the sound of it, has been overdoing it a bit. She has been told to take it easy. So she is going to a craft fair tomorrow with children and dh to sell childrens' clothes . She says she will just sit and drink tea and sell her beautiful clothes, while dh and children do all the work
She asks to be remembered in love by all of us.

CaptainDippy · 29/02/2008 21:02

.... and she always is, DO - Thank you for passing that on!

Praying for your friend, Panda - do update when you have any more news. xx

Just have to share this with you ....

Before bed, my DD1 came in and annouced and that she and DD2 were playing "Hiding Sikhs" DH and I creased up, bless her!!

CaptainCaveman · 29/02/2008 21:05

Thanks for the great round up CD - you remembered me this month (just teasing!)

Fantastic that God spoke to you so clearly Mary, Praising Him for His guidance, and praying that you get to speak to a counsellor soon.

Thanks for your suuport today DO, I really appreciated your kind words on email, and for taking the time to offer some kindness. I took Malley to the vets wrapped in a towel. We went in the back door and waited a few mins for the nurse to come and take him. They made me cry again because they were so nice. I said a fond farewell to my little fella, and ds said goodbye in the saddest voice he could muster (swear he will be an actor). You'd think someone had just died...! Ds did ask the nurse if he could set the fire extinguisher off though - now that would have been a send off with a difference

Wild and windy here tonight!

CaptainCaveman · 29/02/2008 21:07

lol @ hiding sikhs CD!!

praying for L Panda, may his recovery be swift and painless.

CaptainDippy · 29/02/2008 21:51

Your DS cracks me up, CC - I sooooo have to meet him one day! ... and yes - I made darn sure I remembered you this month after your whinging and sulking upset at being forgotten in the last round up!

Bobsdad · 29/02/2008 23:58

Captaindippy, I don't post in here very much but I need to issue some sort of clarification.

My mother is not dead. Nor is Bobsmum's. And my brother is not in a care home. Nor does he have alzheimer's disease.

My mum's brother - i.e. my uncle - was a long-term Alzheimer's sufferer and he died two weeks ago.

For dippiness beyond the call of duty, I hereby promote you to the rank of Lt. Colonel.

CaptainDippy · 01/03/2008 07:19

I am very very sorry.

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 01/03/2008 07:45

Was that a little harsh or am I just misreading the posting? [CC hides behind Bobsmum coz Bobsdad scared her!]

So are we going to try for a summer meet up? (preferably not august as i will be popping then!) Might be wise to start planning it now!

I hope you have a blessed Saturday, filled with God's joy and wonder.

Notquitegrownup · 01/03/2008 08:20

Good morning early risers. Brilliant summary of a huge month's postings CD. You are brilliant!

Ooooh - agree - Bobsdad makes himself very clear, but does sound rather scary (joins CC peeping out from somewhere behind Bobsmum!) I'm sure Bobsdad is very nice really, and I'm sure the Bobsfamily will have been blessed by lots of prayers for them anyway. (I always remember Linden Bowring saying how blessed he was by his grandmother, whom, he knew, had prayed for him 3 times a day, all of his life. However as he got busier and she got older, he had a very clear picture of God sorting out her prayers as they arrived - Hmm, now that one is for Tuesday; I'll put that one over there; that one is for his cousin, David; and we'll save the prayer about Cardiff for when it's needed, one day . . . !) However, it was the love behind the prayers that counted.

So glad that I listened and sent the CTB to you Mary - though I didn't mean to make you cry. I am so pleased to hear that you have made contact with the support group.

Right, crazy weekend this weekend. Prayers and love to all.

amber32002 · 01/03/2008 08:44

Thanks for the new thread, and more prayers from me for everyone.

The priest at the church and my SD have both decided that it's too soon for me to be attempting the Low Mass, after I'd had a rather scary time visiting the church during the week and finding out how many things were new to me (oh the perils of an autistic mind....) The priest is going to meet me in church and try to explain everything, then let me sit with a kindly church warden who can explain things quietly during the service. Phew.

Mary, glad you've managed to make contact with the autism support group. They're often a huge source of useful info and one place where you can say "arrrghhh!", knowing that others feel just the same way.

I was sent the most wonderful booklet yesterday by Revd Donald Eadie about the experiences of churchgoers with disabilities, which came out of last year's Sarum College "Uncomfortable Presence" course. So much to think about and plan for (I'll be there this year),and so wonderfully written by everyone who attended.

Bobsdad · 01/03/2008 08:49

Blergh, that's what I get for posting after bedtime.

Here, have one of these:

MaryBS · 01/03/2008 10:20

A DS funny

Swaliswan · 01/03/2008 10:21

Hello Bobsdad!

How's the job going? Is everything working out for you?

mufti · 01/03/2008 10:24

how are you SS?

Swaliswan · 01/03/2008 13:09

I'm OK mufti, thanks for asking. I'm currently listening to an exhausted DD crying herself to sleep I think that she must have some more teeth coming because she has just thrown a tantrum at having anything put in her mouth at lunchtime - even banana This doesn't fill me with confidence that she will eat well on monday when I start a new job. Thankfully, the Lord has provided me with a transfer to an outpatients department which will hopefully be an OK job for the moment. What is not so good is that the nursing manager is extremely against giving people set days to work. I'm very angry with HR for not sorting out something properly for me. I made it clear that I needed to work set days because of childcare. I finally had a call from my new manager on tuesday (not her fault but I'm very that I was not called until 6 days before I was due to return to work). I don't know what to do. I'm going to fight my case for only having to work six weeks before leaving. I think that I am going to have to leave because this job really isn't suitable. The only thing that is keeping me going at the moment is that I only have to work 18 days before I can leave. I am dreading those 18 days though because they are going to be a logistical nightmare. I wasn't told that my new job is in another hospital (part of the trust) which makes travelling much more difficult and expensive plus I now have to pay for extra childminding hours because of the travel.

Please will people pray that I find another suitable job ASAP and that I manage to fight my case with HR. I did go for a job interview at the university yesterday. I thought that it went really well when I came out but I think now that I haven't got the job. They only interviewed three people and were planning to tell the candidates the outcome yesterday afternoon. I still haven't heard anything so I'm assuming that my enthusiasm wasn't enough to secure me the job. I'm going to be absolutely gutted to be told that I haven't got the job as it sounded fab.

Our offer on the house was turned down as it wasn't enough. I'm not surprised and I think that the person who is buying it is going to have to pay out more money to do the place up than it's worth. I really hope that they don't end up with a terrible negative equity situation. I feel that DH and I have managed to escape from the potential bidding war that the estate agents were clearly hoping for.

DD seems to be slowly improving with her sleeping patterns at night most of the time. She keeps on getting a sore tummy at night though which means that she sometimes wakes up screaming and then comes into bed with us. She is rarely fed during the night now though which is a big improvement. I can only pray that things will continue to improve especially now that I'm going back to work and need to be alert during the day!
