Yes of course,it does sting like a bitch. Very useful on inflamed skin in some circumstances but probably best not in this case.

natura · 26/10/2023 08:17

Oh, @MaculataO your poor DP. I've had these (genetic predisposition - thanks family!) and the only thing that's ultimately worked has been hot compresses.

20 minutes with a hot flannel on top, then a break for a wee while, then go again... brings it all to the surface and out. It's sore to start with, but if you stick at it, it really does the job. Hibiclens is also great for keeping it clean in a gentle way - it's an antimicrobial used in pre- and post-op environments.

Also, this should go without saying, but a big bowl of chicken noodle soup works wonders!

Sending him lots of healing energy – and some to you, too!

BlankTimes · 26/10/2023 10:19

MaculataO, Not sure if you are aware, but antibiotics kill off gut bacteria, the good as well as the bad. Leaving people with very low immunity.

You can help him by using the topical treatments recommended upthread, and adding fermented foods to his diet. The easiest ones to add, live yogurt, live Kefir, live Kimchi and live Sauerkraut are available from most supermarkets. Live Miso is available from most specialist food shops, Amazon stocks them all if you can't find any locally.

I'd also recommend 'Better You' vitamin D3 spray to be taken daily, as well as their B12 spray if he's vegetarian.

MaculataO · 26/10/2023 11:37

Thanks @HillsBesideTheSea as well. So sorry you're overwhelmed too.

Well, he's been packed off to the minor incidents unit for possible drainage. I am glad he's being seen again. Its always a pile up of things isn't it (adding to sleep deprivation with babe too).

MaculataO · 26/10/2023 11:41

And thank you @BlankTimes and @natura - he loves fermented stuff (as do I) so will pack it into the next shop, as I don't believe he'll just have the one course of antibs. I'll look into hibiclens too - it sounds like something we should have in our med cabinet.

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/10/2023 11:41

@MaculataO Glad he is getting seen. Hope they are able to help him, and he is feeling better soon.
Hope you manage to get some reduction to your overwhelm.

Just flying by with a quick hi.

I wrote a long post yesterday but it disappeared before I could post it, and haven't had the time to write again.
Very frustrating.

I feel for you Speakout, I'm using the phone and haven't sorted out how to use tabs yet. Every time I go off this site to get a link or photo, my unsent post disappears.

The above link is to an article concerning "evidence" in the burning times when many innocent women were persecuted.
Sorry for the sombre tone.

VioletCharlotte · 27/10/2023 14:53

Flying in to see hello. Exhausted witch here 🧙‍♀️🤯

How is everyone finding the full moon energy? I'm struggling a little, flip between being totally wired and completely shattered, feeling really emotional and teary.

BlankTimes · 28/10/2023 03:04

Hi Violet, wow, that seems like a turbulent ride, no wonder you're shattered.
I was given a bottle of Neom's Scent to de stress oil blend today. Lavender, Jasmine and Sandalwood. I put 5 drops on a tissue and laid it on my chest, an unexpected restful doze later and I feel fine.
The chaos from the Moon energies,
Can't say I've especially felt them as things here are still pretty chaotic after another unexpected hospital stay with treatment and dealing with being back to 'normal' again. I still can't sleep much at night but do doze a lot in the day which isn't as inconvenient as it sounds, pretty sure I'm getting enough sleep, but in small sections, rather than one single sleep at night.

Hope you feel settled soon, are you using any breathing techniques?

speakout · 28/10/2023 07:58

I am sorry to hear many of us are still feeling energy challenges.
This week has thrown a lot at me too, but I have been more rigorous in using my tools to help me cope.

As a result I have managed to stay calm, grounded, comfortable, despite issues around me I know others have felt my centered energy, and it has helped them too, my DD has some problems atm, and I have spent time with her talking, easing her fears, wiping her tears, hot chocolate and cuddles.
She says I make her feel calm and safe, and more able to deal with what is going on in her life. It is such a privilege to support her.

I will spend some time today topping up my energy reserves, and making sure my own internal world is in good order.
I have body balance this morning, plan to drop into the supermarket to buy some fruit to make myself some smoothies and baked apples for later.
I also have a meditation planned to soothe and top up my cup.

The full moon in Taurus today will invite us to consider the physical aspects of our lives, reminding us that we need to prioritise our own needs and sometimes we need reminding of this
There is a lunar eclipse this afternoon which may be visible from the UK- This Lunar Eclipse can have a way of bringing dysfunctional areas of our lives to our attention. Through events, circumstances, and epiphanies occurring around this eclipse, we learn that we need to get in touch with our needs for a stronger connection to our physical natures and needs. To feel fulfilled, we need to acknowledge and embrace our need to care for ourselves and feel grounded and strong as individuals.

Just finishing my morning coffee I am off for a warm shower as I move through my morning routines.

I hope everyone has a calm easy weekend.

Sometimes I wonder how much better things would be if we could accept that humans are actually members of the animal kingdom and, as such, not exempt from the effects of minor changes in the environment whether that be weather, tides, or the lunar cycle.

I think there's a certain type of scientific thought that, despite its secularity, wants desperately to prove an almost Judeo-Christian separation between humans and animals.

These are my musings today whilst I am feeling very lonely.

Hedjwitch · 28/10/2023 19:41

Our sea swim was cancelled today due to banks of seaweed and quite a few dead birds all swirling about in the tide!
Sat in the summer house instead when I was supposed to be planting bulbs!

Have an irritating dry tickly cough. Disappointed my elderberry and cherry bark syrup doesnt seem to be helping, but a tea of thyme and hyssop does seem promising. Its all learning zi suupose

Hedjwitch · 28/10/2023 19:56

That should say " I suppose"

hilariousnamehere · 28/10/2023 20:25

Hello my loves! I am a rubbish contributor lately and I miss you all very much.

Currently nursing sciatica from moving studios unexpectedly on top of mum having an operation and I'm shattered - but by the end of Monday it should all be done and my life can return to vaguely normal.

Big hugs to all of you and so sorry for my intermittent updates and lack of responding properly - haven't had a minute to myself for months, but am on the road to getting my equilibrium back. And it has at least been the kick up the bum I needed to invigorate me again, although I am terrified about the money part!

Love to you all xxx

speakout · 29/10/2023 07:26

ISaySteadyOn there is a separation for sure, many people think that as humans we are not animals at all.
The bible makes it clear-
make man in my image, after my likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Man is in charge, animals exist as a larder, or other consumption.
I know close christian family members who are deeply insulted if called an animal ( I have suggested and have been shot down).

Not sure I have met the scientists who also support that schism.. I am a scientist, have worked in scientific environments for many years, had lots of scientist friends and partners, all have had the view that we are simply another species of ape.
Doesn't stop some scientists from being arrogant or misogynistic though!

I think christianity and other abrahamic faiths brought the separation of man and nature.
Most indiginous cultures have animistic, polytheistic flavours of faith- intimately tied to the earth, ecosystems, and the web of life they live within.

The church brought about the separation, the elevation, the disregard, and put mankind- specifically men- firmly in charge.
Giving sanction to the commodification of nature and permission to eradicate people who did not agree with the new vision.

hilariousnamehere sciatica can be very painful, I hope it improves soon. It hit me hard for many years, often too painful even to walk- I am sending healing energy.

I hope those of us who struggle to sleep under a full moon had a calm night.
I slept deeply, and had a dream that feels powerful and profound.
I don't usually journal dreams- but this one carries a message I feel.
I meant to do a longer inner child meditation yesterday evening, but after a busy day I became tired quickly in the evening and had an early night instead..

I have been continuing with autumn treats, experimenting with seasonal produce.
So far I have made poached pears, this week was baked apples with yummy stuffing. Yesterday I made some berry coulis, which is so lovely, I have made a few jars to freeze and one on the go.
Drizzled over porridge, fruit or ice cream, I had some last night with strawberries and cream, I almost licked the bowl. I gave a small portion to OH and DS- neither were too keen, which is a bonus- all the more for me!

OP posts:
ISaySteadyOn · 29/10/2023 08:05

Most importantly, what stuffing do you put in the baked apples?

Second, I was musing because I was reading a thread about the full moon and if it affects human behaviour and I got cross about the superior toned scoffing. I thought better post over here because you would all understand. I can imagine that you @speakout and the other scientists you know would not do that when someone described their experiences.

speakout · 29/10/2023 08:28

ISaySteadyOn unfortunately there are types of scientists who through their arrogance sit on high and scoff. The allure of sitting aloft in perfect knowledge must be tempting to some.

While science is an evidence based discipline, in my mind the best scientists have an open mind and realise their constructs of understanding are models, therefore never truly accuratte and open to change. And sometimes whole methodologies are turned upside down.
Moving from Newtonian to quantum understanding for example.

Thankfully there are many scientists who resist the temptation to be a know it all, and remain open to ideas we don't fully understand.

I stuffed my apples with pecans, chopped dates, cinnamon, maple syrup and a knob of butter. Served warm with vanilla ice cream.
I think the filling possibilities are endless!

Weechookiebirdie · 29/10/2023 08:47

Absolutely agree @ISaySteadyOn. People seem to forget that we are part of nature and nature is part of us.

I hope everyone is navigating the effects of last night’s full moon. The lead up always affects my energy in some way shape or form. This week I’ve felt slightly manic, almost nervous for no particular reason however I was out for dinner last night and when we left the restaurant I caught sight of the moon appearing between the branches of a of a tree, and a wave of calm washed over me.

This morning I woke up feeling renewed and am enjoying a gentle start to the day with a mug of peppermint tea while watching the rain come down outside.

Hedjwitch · 29/10/2023 08:59

Couldnt agree more @speakout re your comments on abrahamic religions.

Had a very long sleepness night tossing and turning. Dont know if it was the moon or something else but knackered.

ISaySteadyOn · 29/10/2023 09:39

Anyone else been having weird dreams? Not bad dreams, just excruciatingly odd ones.

EmmaEmerald · 29/10/2023 09:46

Hi sistersI hope you are all well

I am not sure MN is doing me any good. It helps when I am lonely, which is often tbh, but this thread is almost the only decent place left.

This morning is particularly ugly.

So I will post here and say thank you to Matthew Perry for his work on helping addicts and wish him all the blessings of the deep peace of the quiet earth and the shining stars.

I am suddenly finding it hard to be....the age I am? Which is no age, 47, but MN is making me feel like I'm 100. And if it's not okay to be a childfree woman,
i understand it's MN of course, but a childfree woman is going to have a different outlook in many ways. Less of a problem IRL of course, where people are more accepting.

Unfortunately, loneliness will probably bring me back very soon, but don't be alarmed if you don't see me for a while. The universe brought me an unexpected gift in the form of a new lady in my building asking me for a drink when I was very low one night...even if we don't meet up again, it was one of those joyous evenings where you learn something and have fun, and serendipity has your back.

Bright blessings xx

VioletCharlotte · 29/10/2023 10:34

@EmmaEmerald so sorry you're feeling like this, sending hugs 🤗 It does get harder to make friends as you get older, you really have to make the effort, and it can be hard to put yourself out of your comfort zone.

I know there's a trend to blame perimenopause for everything, but do you think this might be contributing to how you're feeling? The reason I ask is because I was feeling incredibly low until I started HRT a couple of months ago. I feel amazing now, like my old self again! I've got all my confidence back and bucketloads of energy. It might be worth looking at if you haven't already.

@hilariousnamehere it's lovely to see you. Sorry to hear about the sciatica. It feels like this is your body telling you that you need to slow down and rest. I hope your feel better soon.

Sorry for not replying to everyone individually, I've been catching up on all the posts this morning. Thankfully the full moon emotions are waning and I'm feeling more normal 🤣 I'm heading out for drinks and lunch with my best friend later so need to get a move on and get ready. Love to you all 🥰

EmmaEmerald · 29/10/2023 11:11

Peri? Oh dear. Don't get me started on that. First childfree women have that workplace battle in terms of stereotypes and now we have this new one....

once again, I have failed to express myself properly maybe? I'm saying MN is making me feel old. I don't feel the age I am at all.

never mind, I'm off out now too. I probably moan too much about loneliness really 😂

I have developed such a bad habit with MN, I used to read two books each week and do a lot of sketching (which I hope to move on into painting).

so, 🎤me and myself and I 🎤 will twerk on into a future path (with other MNers criticising me for listening to rap music and twerking at my age 😂) that needs to feature a lot less internetting!

I love hearing about herbs and moon phases and all your beautiful photos so I might be back at some point...love to all.
