Its finally stopped raining so hung some washing out in the garden. Noticed the frogs have been busy in the pond, lots of spawn. New beginnings.

VioletCharlotte · 17/03/2023 19:51

SerafinasGoose** I hope that the op went well. Sending love and positive energy to you I'm sure it's a been a tough day for you as well as him, so I hope that you're able to relax over the weekend. I think you're wise to step back from you're brother and his issues while you're going through all this. You need to conserve your energy Flowers

Hedjwitch it's been raining on and off all day here too, although it's much warmer than it has been. Fingers crossed spring is just round the corner.

I'm finally Covid free after 10 long days. I was lucky not to be too unwell, but it's not been particularly enjoyable! I'm focusing on self care, trying to eat healthy food, paying attention to my skincare routine, etc. I'm looking forward to getting back to the gym tomorrow, it's been a while!

freckles20 · 18/03/2023 01:43

@SerafinasGoose sending you love on what sounds like an exhausting and stressful day. I hope your DH is feeling comfortable and that you manage to get some restorative sleep tonight.

I'm sorry that your brother is in a difficult place. I know that gnawing feeling that you want to help whist at the same time knowing that in reality any desire to fight an addiction can only come from within and that all you can do is love them dearly and try to protect your own energy.

This afternoon was bright, sunny and warm here. It felt like a long time since I've seen some sunshine and it was very welcome.

This thread inspired me to find a yoga class this week. I really really enjoyed it. I felt it offered me something which sits very well alongside learning about witchcraft although I'm struggling to articulate why. I'd love to make it a regular part of my week.

speakout · 19/03/2023 07:15

Happy mothers day to those who celebrate- to honour the mother aspect within us all, whether or not we are physical mothers.
Serafinasgoose I hope your husband is improvng, will he be well enough to come home soon?
VioletCharlotte I am glad you are now covid free, you are very wise to take some time to care for yourself. Fighting a virus is very tiring for the body, you need time to replenish and restore.
I am glad you enjoyed yoga freckles20, there are a few yogis on this thread.
It is interesting that you feel the connection between yoga and your magical path.
I absolutely agree. Yoga and witchcraft touch the same places within us. To me a yoga class is an act of magic.
Moving through asanas is ordered and ritualistic, invoking our personal power Yoga can be a magical ceremony, awakening or calming our energies.
Salute to the sun cycles awaken and enliven our vitality, tree pose is grounding and centering, a warrior sequence fires up our courage.
One of my yoga teachers will lead us through a moon salutation if the class falls on a full or new moon, that feels very special too. Yoga helps us find our heart centre, and have the courage and confidence to let it shine.

I have a book called Yoga for Witches by Sarah Robinson, very interesting- the author explores the connection between yoga and witchcraft. I have felt the connection for many years.
An easy day here today, I have work to do at some point, but that's ok, it is enjoyable. I am meeting my daughter for lunch, a Thai restaurant, I spent a year in Thailand, so always enjoy memories being stirred by my tastebuds.

It is still early morning here, and no sound of anyone awake.. My family are still asleep, no activity of neighbours, it is such a special time for me- especially on a Sunday. The owls stopped hooting at sunrise, taken over by wood pigeons, finches, magpies and blackbirds and some very noisy woodpeckers.
The woodpeckers have been unusually noisy this year, their drumming has been pretty constant over the past couple of weeks.
It s reassuring to hear, it means the forests around me are thriving.

Hedjwitch · 19/03/2023 08:47

The dawn chorus was uplifting this morning and the sun is shining for once! I recently started yoga but really find it difficult. I want that magical connection but mostly I'm trying to keep breathing, suck in my gut and dont fart! I think I'm more earthy than mystic.
Have a wonderful day sisters,mothers,crones

speakout · 19/03/2023 09:35

Hedjwitch I am glad you enjoyed the dawn chorus, it seems particulary loud at that time of day.
If you feel your yoga class is too challenging it maybe worthwhile trying a different class if they are available in your area.
Yoga classes vary enormously in difficulty, it is important to work at a place that is comfortable for you.
Some yoga is very demanding, hot and sweaty power vinyasa classes, others much more gentle, a beginners hatha or chair yoga for instance.
I go to mixed ability classes, some students are elderly 80 yrs +, some absolute beginners, some returning after giving birth or recovering from illness, some are very fit.
Yoga teachers should give options to make the poses easier ( or more challenging).
I have attended classes that take no prisoners, give no options, some teachers just power through and if you can't keep up then tough, but thankfully those classes are rare.
Everyone in a yoga class is on a journey, we all have that point, that edge where we can work comfortably.
So in that aspect everyone is the same, whether a novice or have been practicing for years.

Sorry for the yoga chat, I know this isn't a yoga thread, but my yoga practice is part of my magical journey.

Happy Mothers Day to all you beautiful women. A day to honour the goddess within us all.

I've had a quiet day, I took my own Mum some flowers this morning and spoke to DS1 on the phone. I had a lovely card from DS2, the words made me cry!

Yoga and witchcraft are closely intertwined for me too. I've not been to a class since having Covid and I'm really missing them, but I've been doing some gentle practice at home. The book you mentioned sounds interesting Speakout, I've added it to my list. I've just ordered Kirsty Gallagher's new book, Sacred Seasons. I love the way she writes, she manages to make sense of quite complex subjects, but without oversimplifying. I find her words comforting and very in tune with modern life.

speakout · 20/03/2023 07:05

Welcome to a new week and Equinox blessings. The astronomical point occurs this afternoon, but I know some prefer to acknowledge the 21st March.
And to me that is also the day Of Oestre, although Easter wont happen for another few weeks.
It's all very confusing, but the awakening is a gentle process, life returning in its own time, and that will feel different depending on which end of the country we live in.
But that's OK, we can take our time to consider the aspects and enjoy the season, whether we are planting, planning, spring cleaning or dreaming of warmer days to come.

DH is home: quite delicate at present as expected. He was very unwell in hospital but once they removed the drain from his side he improved immediately. A fortuitous circumstance is that I am on strike Mon-Wed, which I'm pleased about as I don't feel happy leaving him yet.

Thank you so much for all the kind words and wishes.

The forsythia is out in the garden, the hawthorne is beginning to flower and one of my three cherry trees - the one that always flowers first - is covered in blossom. I can now look more fully enjoy what has always been my favourite time of year, as with DH's op a large part of what has felt like a very heavy weight has been lifted.

Ostara blessings to you all.

speakout · 20/03/2023 11:32

Good to hear you sounding lighter SerafinasGoose, glad things are going well and you have your husband home.
This is such a time of growth, healing and new beginnings lots of energy around to support you and your husband.
Forsythia is such vibrant sign of spring, I brought some indoors last year to celebrate Ostre, it filled the house with optimistic energy and infuses us with a sense of calm energy and joyful optimism
It rooted really well, and ended up with several new plants which I replanted.
Enjoy feeling a bit more relaxed, you have been through an emotional time, but now you can pause and take a breath.

HillsBesideTheSea · 20/03/2023 15:32

I hope that your DH has a smooth and speedy recovery Serefina

Mother's day was odd around here. Having an SN kid who doesn't hold much interesting in really any kind of celebration means that i have no expectations. However i got coffee in bed yesterday, and when asked if it was for mother's day i was told he'd forgotten completely but i got the coffee because he thought i would appreciate it because we had house guests and i would be making everyone breakfast. So it was felt i could use a coffee brought to me in bed first. Gotta say, i would rather those little moments of unprompted kindness than to worry about a big fuss on mothers day. So it really set a lovely tone to the day, even if the rest of the day was not the smoothest. Still rather excited about the clocks going forwards at the weekend. The extra hour of daylight in the evening is something i really enjoy making use of. This night owl struggles with the mornings that others here are able to really make use of and enjoy. As much as i wish i could do the same.

It is a head in the books kinda day so i am going to queue up a load of witchy podcasts and just let them run in the background I think.

Wishing you all gentle magical weeks.

speakout · 20/03/2023 16:06

HillsBesideTheSea I am totally with you regarding kind gestures instead of gifts.

My DD took me out for lunch- the food was amazing, we ordered lots of little dishes ( Thai) and each mouthful an explosion of complex flavours.

While I was out my husband washed and hoovered out my car and filled it with fuel- I find that art of giving far more meaningful than huge bouquets of flowers or boxes of chocolates.
So it was a good day.

Hiya, I’m just catching up. Life seems to be quite busy lately, I’ve had a busy time with work and haven’t found time to get on here. I’m 11 weeks today, I have my 12 week scan next week which I’m so excited but also really nervous for.

@queenrollo the gig you went to sounds really wonderful, I will have a look into the people you talked about.

@HillsBesideTheSea I completely agree with you about the importance of knowing what you’re working with with herbalism. I’ve always been really interested in it but I also worry that I’ll use the wrong thing. All the reading recommendations here definitely make me feel more confident in giving it a go though.

@speakout it’s really interesting hearing about your experience getting into the magical path. I’ve just ordered the book you mentioned so I’m excited to read that.

@freckles20 I’m glad you found some good reading material. I have a book on the Goddess year too, it makes every day magical by celebrating a goddess a day. Thank you for your well wishes about the next trimester.

@Hedjwitch you have a beautiful set up!

@SerafinasGoose my mother is/was an alcoholic so I understand how emotionally draining it can be💐. I’m happy to hear your husband is home, I hope he has a smooth recovery.

I had a lovely Mother’s Day, I spent it with my mother and grandmother and DS, it was really beautiful. We don’t do gifts/cards though, I prefer to just enjoy the presence of those I love. I’m looking forward to spring now, although it doesn’t feel much like spring where I am.

Craftycorvid · 21/03/2023 08:05

Warm Oestara blessings to you all, and I hope that the new moon energy brings all kinds of fresh beginnings, especially for those of you with worries and loved ones who are struggling. The miner bees are already putting in an appearance in our garden - lots of little mounds of earth on the lawn with tiny neat holes at the centre where the bees emerge. It’s lovely to see the signs of mother earth stirring herself from slumber.

ISaySteadyOn · 21/03/2023 08:26

I've never seen a miner bee. Any chance of a picture of one of the miner bee holes?

Bees won't appear here until our lilac blooms. But I can see the beginnings of flowers on our camellia. I am excited as I have never seen it bloom and if it does, it is because I cared for it.

speakout · 21/03/2023 15:45

Ostara and New Moon Blessings to everyone.
How lovely to have miner bees in your garden Craftycorvid.
We get lots of bees here too- it's the clover lawn at the front of my house that seems to attract them- none here yet though.

Today has been mild and sunny, I managed to dry some heavy clothes outside, and brought them in just before a torrential downpour started.
Also gave me a chance to do a bud inspection in the garden, I share your excitement ISaySteadyOn. It is especially satisfying if we planted the bush or tree ourselves.
I planted quite a lot last year- several lilac, a couple of buddleia, honeysuckle.
My magnolia is covered with buds, as are my apple trees, cherry and pear.
A busy time for mother nature.
I am just back from the dentist- it always feels good when nothing is needed, and even a compliment about how well I look after my teeth. I feel I should have been given a sticker.
I am just about to change sheets on my bed- hopefully there will be more drying weather tomorrow- I love a spot of laundry magic.

Today's new moon is in Aries, also the first sign of the zodiac, the new moon brings energy to new projects, plans, and Aries boosts that energy. Combined with equinox energy still in the air, a powerful time for new starts, new beginnings.

Ostara blessings to you all. We've had some sunshine this afternoon and it's actually started to feel like spring may finally be on the way. I'm more than ready for the lighter evenings and warmer days, it feels like it's been a long winter.

Speakout I know what you mean about the dentist! I'm the same, I always feel so proud when I don't need anything done! And relieved as I really don't like dental work, it always feels so invasive.

SerafinasGoose pleased to hear that DH is home, I'm sure he'll feel better now he's in his own surroundings. Will continue to send healing energy.

Im at the hairdressers at the moment having my colour done. It's nice to be having a bit of a pamper!

IconicKitty · 21/03/2023 19:40

Hello everyone. I am a long time lurker on this thread but haven't posted. This thread is one of those nice comfort threads, and everyone seems so lovely and supportive. So here goes with my first post!

I am so thankful for the arrival of spring and the longer days. It has been a very long and bleak winter with the cost of living crisis, and feels it's been colder than usual (but this may be due to not using the central heating so much). The days are now longer and the house is warmed by the afternoon sun (when we have sun), making the house so much cosier. I feel I have more energy too - in the winter I was ready to curl up in bed at 6pm. It's much easier to be motivated when it's lighter in the evenings.

March is a real turning point - the month starts off still very much in winter, but now spring is evident wherever we look. It's still on the cold side, but things are slowly improving. The world has come alive again and it's wonderful to appreciate the little changes and signs of spring.

Hedjwitch · 21/03/2023 20:42

Feeling low and tired, and desperate for sunshine and some energy.

freckles20 · 21/03/2023 21:59

Ostara blessings to everyone.

Welcome @IconicKitty, I have only recently started to post on this thread and I agree with you that it is a lovely corner of mumsnet.

I can sense that Spring is awakening. The light is changing, the bird song is louder and many buds are unfurling. I walk lots of dogs each day and they sense it too- lots of extra energy, high jinx and rolling in the grass.

I keep reading about this tome in March bringing a sense of energy but disappointing I feel exhausted. It is extra frustrating to feel tired and in need of rest when so many signs point to this being a time of new energy. It sounds like you feel
It too @Hedjwitch 💚.

HazelTheGreenWitch · 21/03/2023 23:27

@IconicKitty hello 👋

ISaySteadyOn · 22/03/2023 07:05

@speakout , the camellia is inherited from pil and did not bloom in the years they had it, but it is going to bloom for me. I have also rescued an avocado tree.

@freckles20 , I hope that you are not coming down with the virus that I have got. It is making planting and planning hard. Also, I hope you get lots of solid satisfying pats with the dogs you walk.

speakout · 22/03/2023 07:21

VioletCharlotte I hope you enjoyed the hairdressers and you are pleased with the results. We absolutely deserve pampering time!
Hedjwitch sorry to hear you are feeling low and tired, I hope your sleep has restored you a little and you can find some things- however small to give you a boost.
IconicKitty welcome, we are glad you have joined us- there is a warm place by the fire and fresh tea in the pot. I look forward to getting to know you.
It has been a long winter, and I thiink you are right we have noticed the cold much more because we have been trying to live with less heating.. I will be glad when warmer days arrive, but like you I enjoy watching the changes of spring.

The end of March can be a sluggish time, if I am low on energy I do all the things, throw the kittchen sink at it.
Sleep is crucial to me, I often have a few very early nights -8pm or so over a few days, that helps me. I make sure I am eating well- lots of veg and I take vitamins or vitamin D tablets over the winter. I find probiotics great too, I take them in capsule form. I drink energy giving tea, ginger, orange cinnamon, nor your favourite blend. A spa shower with essential oils can provide a good boost.
Finding ways to connect with the sun, whether through magical arts or other activities.
The sun is the source of all energy on the Earth, connecting to that can tap us into warming power.
I like to find a sun trap in the house ( my cats are experts at finding these spots), and use that to meditate on the sun. You won't get the burning rays through glass, but you will get heat and light. I have such a spot in my living room in the morning and another at the back of the house in late afternoon.
My energy crashes if I stop body movement medicine.
It is understandable to feel no energy for activity or exercise, but this can fire up our body.. Yoga Sun Salutations invite solar energy into the body and boost our mood and muscles.
Of course different things work for different people, you may enjoy other activities- I would love to hear what gives you a boost.

I was hoping to do some laundry magic today, but the wind is strong today, bringing lots of squally showers, so I will wait to see if things calm down a little.
Off for my lemongrass and lime spa shower, yoga class then work.
I hope you all find some magic today.
