Starting the discernment process in the CofE

For a few years now God has been telling me he wants more from me, but that's all he's saying. He hasn't yet revealed what more is, then over the last 18 months a few friends and people I know from currently serving in children's ministry have mentioned I should consider ordination. Strangely this hasn't freaked me out like I thought it would but I do have a lot of questions and uncertainties about it, I feel this may be the way God wants me to go.
For a short while I did think it might be a call to reader ministry and I asked the vicar at a school I'm connected to (not my vicar or my child's school) a few questions about it.
I've also spoke to my own vicar about a placement in another church but have said I want this to hep me develop my current role.
I don't know why but I'm finding it hard to be totally honest with those around me and say outright I think God wants me to start the formal discernment process. Other than praying (cause I'm already doing tonnes of that) has anyone any advice of how to approach my vicar? I also for reasons that would be too outing don't want to talk my church warden. Thanks

Thank you @MrsTulip . You're in my prayers too. It's a long old process and certainly seems to get to the very core of you. Which I suppose is the intention.
Blessings.

Just a gentle word of advice: every single thing you do and don't do, say and don't say is noticed at a BAP, even when you think it's 'off-duty' time. Be aware of how you come across in every situation.

Yep and that’s why I’m getting anxious over the food.

So interview with the theological college was yesterday via zoom. It went well and was a lot more informal than I was expecting.
How's everyone else getting on with training and the process?

DD back from BAP last night. Not feeling positive. :(

Very glad your college interview went well
That's a big step!

Prayers successful @MrsTulip
DD got through BAP with flying colours...no more work to do. I am so very proud of her, and delighted for her future.

Congratulations to your daughter FuzzyPuffling on getting trough BAP, it's the most horribly tense time waiting for the results.
MrsTulip I hope your preparations for BAP are going well and that when the time comes you find it a positive experience.
It's all very busy for my, final term of first year and desperately trying to get assignments done and keep the plates spinning at home while husbands away for the duration of term, but also quite exciting and daunting as curacy conversations are starting too.

Make sure you look after yourself.
Preparations are going well, I need to book some train tickets and some accommodation for the night before and the night after because I'm travelling from the north west to the south west. 7 weeks to go!

Train tickets and accommodation booked, conditional college place offered and accepted, had a lovely surprise campfire and barbeque with close guiding friends last weekend so they could wish me well, back with the DDO nest Saturday morning. 4 weeks to go and back to the very mixed emotions I had at the start of all this.
Any tips for keeping busy the next few weeks ( I am working but we do have a week off for half term) welcomed and very much appreciated.

I think of you often, @MrsTulip and continue to pray for you.
Give it to Jesus...he will direct your path.

I had a bit of a feeling to pray for you this morning ( so I did!). I hope your preparations for BAP are going well and you aren't too nervous about it.

Aww thanks. I’m with the DDO for a final quick practice run this morning at 10!
Prep going well- 3 weeks to go, not so much nervous but emotions are all over the place, worse than being pregnant

So meeting with the DDO went well, was very positive. So just need to pray and keep reading over my paperwork now. Should have the outcome by 22nd June, so I will let you all know once I know and I've told my nearest and dearest.
Thanks to everyone on here for their advice support and prayers.

Fantastic @FuzzyPuffling I am delighted for your DD and will pray for her as her journey continues.

@MrsTulip I feel I can understand the sentiment “worse than being pregnant” (although I never had a pregnancy) because of how the discernment process/exploration of vocation feels - to me - more weighty than the decision to get married (which I hardly took lightly). (I am not married anymore, a whole other saga.) I like @FuzzyPuffling ’s advice “Give it to Jesus” Sometimes in the midst of all the doing, it’s challenging to internalise that that really is enough.

Thinking of you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2024 20:36

@MrsTulip . Just wanted to wish you all the very best for BAP. I hope it all goes to plan and you aren't too nervous.

Courage for the big things, patience for the small, Be of good cheer, God is awake.

Thank you. We are in the Ofsted window at work so prayers that they don't come before I get the results would also be appreciated.

From seeing the examining chaplain and having the college interview it's flown by, hoping this week doesn't drag too much.

So the head at the CofE primary school I work in explained to the kids what I'm doing and why I won't be back in school until Wednesday and then in collective worship asks the kids to pray with her for me and then in the traditional way of the school they send me loads of good luck vibes - wouldn't want to work in any other school! No I'm not crying I just have bad hay fever today

Also came home to a lovely card with great words of encouragement from a couple I did my ALM training with, who were also some of the first people who mentioned I should look at discerning ordination
