Not been here for a while but solstice greetings to everyone.

I plan to spend some time gardening, seeing what is growing and what needs to be tidied. Already there are hundreds of snowdrops beginning to appear. Then a lovely meal at dusk. I will go outside at 21.45 and spend a few quiet moments in the dark.

WiccanWonderer · 21/12/2022 08:47

Solstice blessings to you all. I'll be tidying the garden too, before a hearty meal and firepit after dark. I hope we can see the moon.

VioletCharlotte · 21/12/2022 09:47

Solstice blessings sisters, 'May the dawn chase the dark away'

I slept deeply last night and woke up feeling more hopeful, the heavy feeling I've been carrying for the past few days seems to have shifted. I'm going to a solstice event tonight to welcome the return of the light, and looking forward to being in the energy of like minded sisters for a little while.

Thank you again for the positive energy for my friend. She is still critical but stable. A number of us held a distance meditation to send healing to her last night, we all feel a bit helpless so at least this is something we can do.

I agree with all the sentiment around Christmas. I decided some time ago to be more selective about what I take part in, I guard my precious time, prioritising myself and my loved ones. I avoid all the work Christmas parties, drinks, etc. For me, Christmas means a chance to relax indoors, eat nice food and spend time with my immediate family. I enjoy the time between Christmas and new year, again I like to keep plans to a minimum so I'm free to take off to the coast for the day if the mood takes me, or head off to the forest.

Speakout I laughed at your description of DP's shopping habits! It's easy to get over excited by all the nice food that's in the shops, probably wise that you go with him to stop things getting out of hand!

BerthaFlapjack it's very early for snowdrops! I wish I had more time to garden. I always plan to plant lots of bulbs but somehow never get round to it.

Solstice blessings and love to sisters and women

it has been a heavy week. The time leading up to the solstice is often not right for me....I'm glad to get past it.

Probablymagrat · 21/12/2022 14:32

My first opportunity to wish anyone a blessed Solstice. Thank you all for being my virtual circle. xx

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 21/12/2022 14:57

@dementedma, you look spectacular. Who would have thought the suffrage colours would have made such a comeback, or be so sadly necessary a century later? Women fought the injustices against our sex then, and we're fighting them now. Witches won't weesht!

The wheel turns and the year is about to wax again. Brightest solstice blessings to all the good sisters on this thread: thank you for welcoming me into your circle and helping me greatly at the close of what's been a very strange year for me.

Also sending healing to all who are struggling at this time. A white candle is burning for you throughout this special sabbat, and comes with positive thoughts to all.

aoibhacado · 21/12/2022 16:58

pagan witch here!

Aerwyna · 21/12/2022 17:09

Solstice blessings sisters, may you find comfort in the shadows, gently giving way to brighter days ahead.

I enjoyed this tarot spread and wanted to share it in case others might too

www.interrobangtarot.com/blog/winter-solstice-tarot-spread

@speakout thank you so much for the wise words and poem about joy, a perfectly timed blessing for me too today.

@VioletCharlotte I’m so sorry to hear about your friend and am adding my healing energy to that which is being sent. I am glad you have felt a lift and hope you enjoy your gathering this evening

@dementedma you looked resplendent in suffrage colours going off to stand up for women’s rights today. Thank you for doing this, my spirit is with you and this fight too.

@BlankTimes it’s lovely to see you and yes I still honour our 8’s when I can. It’s good to connect with my sisters and raise energy in this way. My candle will be lit at 8pm tonight

thank you everyone for sharing such wonderful energy on this thread and for keeping the home fires of this special place burning, it is an oasis of calm for me and I know for many others

aoibhacado a warm welcome, winter blessings to you.
Aerwyna wonderful to see you - the Tarot spread looks amazing.
I will also have my 8 pm candle lit- thank you for starting this ritual.
MarieIVanArkleStinks Women fought the injustices against our sex then, and we're fighting them now. Witches won't weesht! I totally agree,
Times are changing, and women don't want to make room, accomodate and budge up. Time of the "haud yer wheesht" is no longer acceptable.

Can somone explain the 8s?

EmmaAgain22 · 21/12/2022 18:48

I'm also doing the 8pm candle but have no other explanation other than - I enjoy doing that with you all.

May I just say thank you, sisters, for this lovely space.

speakout · 21/12/2022 19:22

The 8 candle is a group ritual created by our wonderful sister Aerwyna.
A way of connecting- that those who join will light a candle at 8pm.
No matter the distance between us, we could join in the single flame, which unites us.
No obligation to join every evening, only when it feels right- knowing there will be friends doing the same.
I will light a flame at 8pm tonight, to celebrate our friendship, raise positive energy, and send healing.
Thankyou Aerwyna for your contributions and wisdom.

That is wonderful. My candle was still lit at 8, albeit as a recent incomer I didn't previously know about this ritual.

I used only to get to do this once a year: the 'Wave of Light' in mid October. This is held as part of baby loss awareness week to commemorate babies who have died in utero or early infancy. It's a small gesture but inspired a sense of comfort and solidarity I'd never experienced before.

It's lovely that this happens on a much more regular basis on this thread. And I love the power of candles and the element of fire.

I intend to try the tarot spread. Thanks for sharing!

VioletCharlotte · 21/12/2022 23:14

Aerwyna thank you so much for your kind words and for the tarot spread.

I look forward to joining in with 8am and pm candle ritual again. These little rituals are often the things that get put on the back burner when life gets busy, but taking those few minutes to reconnect can make such a difference. My friend's accident had brought it home to me how precious life is and what really matters. I've made a promise to myself to prioritise self care and connection, the 8's feel like a great place to start 🙏

speakout · 22/12/2022 07:06

Solstice Blessings friends.
I am just waiting for dawn to break, and have relief and gratitude at making it through the darkest night.
The sun wil rise here at 8.42, earlier in the south.
Thankyou to all those who joined the candle connection yesterday, I can think of no better way to celebrate this onine tribe. It was lovely to reignite.
I will continue to light at 8 through the festive period if anyone would like to join.
A little ceremony and magic every evening.
I look forward to doing the Tarot spread later this afternoon.
I am off to the supermarket this morning with my DD to do the christmas food shop, I am meeting my DD there, she is a wonderful shopping companion, full of zing and zest, but a very practical and a level head- a bit like Mary Poppins, So she will keep me on track!
I am off for a mandarin and cinnamon spa shower to add some fire to my morning,
Have a blessed day sisters.

I hope everyone is finding piece as we move towards a busy weekend.
And new moon blessinngs.
The christmas tree lights stopped working yesterday, no amount of fiddling seemed to work. I tried some local shops- all out of stock, but Argos can deliver today, and have a good sale of lights and other christmas items, many half price. Just means I have to strip the tree and redecorate- but that's OK.
I have mostly finished wrapping, I watched Krampus yesterday, while I wrapped- I do like a dark movie to counteract too much christmas schmalz.
I did theTarot spread that Aerwyna posted yesterday, it was very enlightening.
This morning I have a yoga Nidra class, we will probably do some moon salutations, the teacher usually does them if class falls on a new or full moon, followed by the meditation. 7.30am may me an odd time for yoga nidra, but I am sure we will benefit.
Today's new moon in Capricorn sees us feeling practical, organised, resourceful, renewing boundaries which decrease anxiety and worry. A good day for making future plans, while being grounded and in touch with our inner wisdom.
Off to get ready for yoga, I hope everyone has a calm day.
