Hello all!

Panda you do sound busy - try to take it easy when you get the chance!

CD tell us more about your appointment please!

Podmog prayers for your household. Isn't it hard when the dc are ill? {sympathy}

Oooh how exciting, your scan, CCM! It makes it seem much more real, doesn't it? {gooey}

Well my DDO meeting went...ummm...not sure really tbh. I feel a bit low now, maybe a bit anti-climaxy (having built up to this for so long) and a bit silly (he asked me to talk about an aspect of theology that I'm really not very clear on, and I came across as really muddled). He wasn't very complimentary about my church either It hasn't made me doubt that this is the right direction, but it was not exactly encouraging either. The DDO was playing devil's advocate to an extent, which I guess is his job, but...oh well. I'm just tired and annoyed at myself for coming across so muddled.

Love to everyone here! Have a good evening!

DutchOma · 24/01/2008 18:58

Well, if he asked you about a bit you weren't clear about, I'm not surprised you came across as muddled, what does he expect? To be clear about what you are not clear about, bit odd I think. Is he the only one who is making a decision? Or does he make a recommendation to the 'higher authority' whoever they may be? And what does he mean about not being complimentary about your church? Are you not all trying to serve God in whatever way you think is best? Try and sit in the sunshine of Jesus' love for a bit, after all He is the only one to please and He loves you. You are very precious to Him just now in your uncertainty. You know "when I am weak, then I am strong".

Walnutshell · 24/01/2008 19:51

Hi all,

MaryBS on Wed 23-Jan-08 07:51:43 - thankyou

Podglet thinking of you and ds

CCM - congrats on baby cavey & on finishing your essay (I used to live in Nottm btw)

Would anyone mind praying for my friend whose dh really needs good news on the job front? Such an absolutely genuine and lovely family I have met fairly recently through church.

Started Christianity Explored yesterday, was interesting. My lovely friend who is running the course has a definite knack of prayer (said at the end) - well, I guess she has a lot of experience having been a Christian for most (all?) of her life. I must take tips ...

Love to all, WS x

MaryBS · 24/01/2008 20:53

Walnutshell, what did I do? You're welcome anyway! Praying for your friend's DH re: job situation

{Hugs} Rosey. I'm pretty sure they don't want someone who has all the answers up front, for what would they have to learn? In fact "knowing it all" would likely be held against you! Praying for God to uplift you, for you know that he has called you.

Podmog - praying for health AND patience in your household. And strength for you too!

CCM - YAY to little cavelet!

NSFN - sorry to hear you're having internet problems - no chance of it being a practical joke is there? Your ex-H wouldn't try anything like that would he? Praying for answers, and also for healing for dd1.

I want to do a BIG praise God! for my new spiritual director! I'm another one who feels that she came across as muddled today, but I feel much happier with this one, and she talks a lot of sense, so PRAISE GOD again!

Anyone want to help me write my next sermon? It'll be my first "all age" sermon, but because I'm preaching at another church first, it can't be too complicated in terms of props... Its on Matthew 4:1-11 (Jesus being tempted by Satan). The other readings of the day are Genesis 2:15-17,3:1-7 and Romans 5:12-19. I've read a wonderful sermon by William Barclay, so may use elements of that...

TIA. Mary xx

CaptainCaveman · 24/01/2008 21:16

Praising God with you Mary, what fab news re your spiritual director. Hallelujah!

Great news too Walnutshell for starting your course, I am praying you get much out of it. Where do you live now, if you don't mind me asking?

DO, I love the sound of sitting in the sunshine of Jesus' love - I might do some of that myself, and give thanks for our precious little bean.

Panda don't you wear yourself out now! busy busy lady you.

podglet · 25/01/2008 09:04

Morning,

CCM - Hurrah for little Cavey! Glad all went well

DO - DS has one of those chairs that clip onto the table and he pushed himself backwards at my mums (in a strop) and fell backwards onto the floor - we now use a proper highchair there. Glad he is ok though and praying for your nerves

Panda - praying for your busy times...

WS - praying for your friends and that something comes along for them very soon.

Thank you for your prayers for DS and me. the appointment won't be for ages I'm sure - average is around 3 months here. I am feeling lots better thank you, I have spent the last 2 days doing nothing and last night I actually slept from 10.30 - 6.30 so feel much brighter today Still trying to make DP understand that I am not suffering from "a mild head cold" but was really signed off for exhaustion and depression he's still not being understanding - don't know what to do with him.

Notquitegrownup · 25/01/2008 09:26

Good morning all.

Sending sympathy Podglet. Do look after yourself and even when you are feeling better, give sleep a priority. Going to bed once or twice a week at 8pm helped me enormously through depression. Gentle exercise also helps. Any chance of swimming once a week? Or failing that, a walk with the pram when the sun comes out.

Right, off to work.

God bless all.

Swaliswan · 25/01/2008 10:29

Good morning everyone!

I may not have been posting, but I have been trying to keep reading posts and praying for everyone.

Good news - DD has 2 teeth!
Bad news - it appears that more teeth are on their way so she is still teething

My hope that DD would sleep a bit better once her teeth came through hasn't worked out.

On the job front, I managed to finish my CV and covering letter and sent it off in time. All I can do now is hope that I get an interview or that something comes up at work. DH had a one-to-one with his manager about the redundancies going on at work. It appears that there may be a few opportunities but there are only a couple of jobs that he is automatically eligible to apply for with the re-structuring. I think that he is hoping that another, more interesting job becomes available.

DO, just about to send you an e-mail now then I'm off to bed for a nap before I have to fetch DD from nursery.

amber32002 · 25/01/2008 10:30

Mary, shall pray for that sermon, though I'm definitely not the right person to be useful about what you've got to say in it. It's challenging enough trying to work out what to write for the Bishops when I see them soon (on disability issues).

Good news about the SD!

Podglet, I despair about your dh's continuing denial. Not helpful at all. I guess as long as he doesn't think it's "real", it means he doesn't have to do any help or support? (sigh). Still praying for you.

Praying for everyone else too.

Some good news for me. Spoke to a lovely lady yesterday who may be able to get me an advocate to help with a very tricky meeting with one of the Bishops (on a personal matter to do with a church and my disability). And she wants me to get involved more with the Diocese and its disability knowledge (or lack thereof), so that'll be more meetings to get through....but it'll be worth it

CaptainDippy · 25/01/2008 10:32

{{{{Podglet}}}} Prayers. xx

Podglet - just a thought. My helth visitor said, long ago, that men could get a version of pnd. The arrival of the baby, the change in their homes and their wives can leave them feeling helpless at how to help and depressed by that feeling - as well as broken nights/lack of sleep of course. Some men deal with it by getting ill and needing tlc themselves, testing out whether they are still safe/loved, others by denying that there is anything else they can do, working hard at work, staying on safe ground. It made a lot of sense to me.

If I remember rightly, the way forward was for someone to listen/empathise with how they are feeling, and to boost their confidence too, making sure that they feel valued and valuable. She offered to go and visit families, and would encourage/listen to the men as well as the women.

CaptainDippy · 25/01/2008 11:37

Well said NQGU! xx

hello all

jjust a quick visit but are praying through your prayer requests.

well my busy week is almost over...there is a half night of prayer at church tonight, but a takeaway and a glass of wine in front of the tv sounds a more realistic option

CaptainCaveman · 25/01/2008 17:14

Praise God. My house is so clean and tidy that it sparkles!!!!!!!!!!!!! . I shall now start praying that I can keep it that way and that we sell it quickly.

Swaliswan · 25/01/2008 18:20

Just a quick request for prayer before DH takes laptop away for the weekend. Am having loads of trouble getting our new washing machine delivered that we ordered a month ago. Our machine has now died and the nearest launderette is about 30 mins walk away. I'm waiting for a manager to call me back so that I can try and sort things out. Please pray for the situation x
