This morning seemed to go well. After the first, one lady said how much more confident I seem. The second, which was the ?all age? service, was so funny, I had a laugh doing it. If you could have seen the congregation with their hands in the air when I said ?Simon says put your hands in the air?, it was all I could do not to laugh. I had to wing my way through some of it, because some of the children were trying to answer the questions I was asking, so instead of me giving the answers, I let them tell me ? which was totally wonderful and really affirming. A number of the adults said how good it was too, and how I preached a message that could be understood by children AND adults. It was the first time I?d used the clip-on mike too, I hadn?t practised with it. Also where I?d planned to stand to deliver it, M. had put the children, so I had to stand in front of the children, and walk around so I could preach to both the children and the adults. I dramatised it when I walked around, so waved my hand at ?the highest temple?, and ?the whole world?, and I mimicked the devil wanting Jesus to bow down before him. So much fun. I?ve no idea how many mistakes I made, but to be honest, I don?t think it mattered.

Thank you Lord!

ZipadiSuzy · 10/02/2008 15:07

Mary - Sounded a fabulous time, well done, need more churches like that! I'm glad you are ok atm, and revelling in joyous gatherings

Thank you God for such a beautiful, sunny, warm day, children playing outside, enjoying themselves, its like letting lions out of their cages!!!!

ZipadiSuzy · 10/02/2008 15:08

Oh and Thank you God for my tasty Sunday lunch, followed by Apple Pie and Custard - Yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!

MarsLady · 10/02/2008 15:53

Hello my lovelies.

Ok prayer for me this time. My father died a few days ago and because we had no real relationship (he was an abusive man) I don't know how I feel. Anyhoo... I need to organise the funeral, support my mum and sisters and get myself out to Jamaica. Plus I have lovely clients that I need to sort out. Please pray that no one gives birth in my absence (obviously I mean my clients lol)and that when I'm back they give birth in an orderly fashion.

Please also pray that I manage to sort out all the finances. The funeral, the flights and expenses whilst there.

I would like to thank God for one friend who is being really supportive in a hugely practical way.

Swaliswan · 10/02/2008 19:40

Big {{{{hugs}}}} for MarsLady and prayers for both the organisational side of the funeral and the emotional side of your loss. I know what it is like dealing with all of the paperwork and making all the decisions that need to be made in the aftermath of the death of a family member. I urge you to ensure that you give yourself space and time to grieve. I know you have said that you had no real relationship, but you will still have emotions arising from his death that you need to deal with. You may be surprised by how strong your emotions are or by how numb you feel. I pray that you will feel the warmth of your Heavenly Father as He wraps His arms around you and carries you during this difficult time.

Swaliswan · 10/02/2008 20:24

Oooooo, I almost forgot to ask for prayer for something extremely unexpected that I was approached about in church today.

The local Christian-run pregnancy crisis centre need someone to go in and do some administration, co-ordinate the centre and do some networking for them. I've been in contact with them and praying for them for a while now as I was interested in volunteering but didn't know how I would manage to pay for childcare. Anyway, they are looking for someone to work 10-15 hours per week and it wil be paid work. This is a huge thing for me, not least because I have been asked to 'apply' (ie go and talk to them and if they like me then the job will be tailored around me including the job description, hours of work, start date etc). I may not be the only person who applies so it is by no means a foregone conclusion that I would get the job. I have always felt called to do some missionary work and felt called in particular to the work of the pregnancy crisis centre.

The thing is, I don't know if it is going to be financially viable. Or more to the point, I don't know how the Lord is going to provide if it is His will that I work there at this point in time, if ever.

Anyway, I feel in a bit of a muddle about it. How often is it that you get one of those moments when you know that you will have to take a leap of faith to live out God's will for your life? How do you know that it truly is God's will not your own? How do I trust that our family will be provided for?

TIA for your prayers x

CaptainCaveman · 10/02/2008 20:28

Praying Marsy - well spoken SS. ditto SS' prayers, and ((((((mars)))))

Praise God your sermons were so well delivered Mary. God was really living in you and through you today!

Happy belated anniversary Podglet - how many years?

Really sorry to hear about your cat DO. My two are like my babies and I'll feel their loss when they are no longer with us. Praying that God comforts you, and praising God that your little cat is now at peace.

Hello everyone else! Prayers please that we start to get people round to view our house soon - and that we sell it quickly.

DutchOma · 10/02/2008 21:45

Swaliswan - "How often is it that you get one of those moments when you know that you will have to take a leap of faith to live out God's will for your life?" Not very often I would say, but this, I think you know, is one of them. Leap, girl, leap, God will not let you down. If you don't get it, well...
Prayers for Marslady's funeral, for journeying mercies, for grace and wisdom and for all work commitments to fall into place.
Prayers for CC house situation. How is your dsis these days?
Glad Mary's services went well, praise God.

mufti · 11/02/2008 08:02

SS - pregnancy crisis is something i was drawn to, did the counsellor training for my local centre last year , also christian run, but with nationwide centres, could be the same charity?
ours is purely volunteers though
thinking of all of you, including those we haven't heard from for ages, mum2gusandalbie is one i thought of.

Swaliswan · 11/02/2008 08:38

Hey Mufti. I'm guessing that you did the 'Called to CARE' course for a centre affiliated with CARE confidential. I believe that the centre in Southampton is the one that originally got the nationwide centres together and joined them up with CARE. Many of the counsellors down here are not paid but the support staff or staff who do more than just the counselling but are involved in running the centre or developing the centre are paid.

mufti · 11/02/2008 08:56

yes i did SS, ours is small , we don't have our own premises even.
i just saw a poster advertising the training , and thought, yes. it also gives me more contact with fellow christians which is a bonus

DutchOma · 11/02/2008 09:28

Just looking back over the thread I said:"Prayers for Marslady's funeral" I hope that is not going to be taken out of context to scare anybody. Sincere apologies.

Swaliswan · 11/02/2008 09:35

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sorry about that, Ladies. Please pray for my sanity and maybe even eyes in the back of my head. DD is pulling up on anything and everything with mixed success. Obviously, she has an affinity for any furniture with sharp edges. Oh, her nose is streaming thick snot as well so I'm following her around with a tissue. This could be a very long day....especially as AF is now late and I'm doing the whole 'am I aren't I' thing.

ZipadiSuzy · 11/02/2008 10:27

Marslady - prayers for you and your family.

SS - Fab opportunity, job wise, I'd give it a go, it may be just what you need.

Prayers for my ds2 vomitting all night, please may he rest and recover. Plus hope others don't get it.

Notquitegrownup · 11/02/2008 10:46

Good morning all.

Flying by with prayers for all.

I need a new daily Bible course. EDWJ isn't working for me anymore. DO I think that you recommended something once before?

Hope you are all able to get out and enjoy this lovely sunshine.

God bless

DutchOma · 11/02/2008 11:04

We use Lucas on Life, quite good at the moment. Still a CWR publication, but easier to deal with than 'Selwyn from beyond the grave'.

IgotaBFP · 11/02/2008 11:11

I use Explore. It is quite a 'young' one that almost reminds me of the ones that I used to use as a child. But don't let that put you off as I mean that in a good way. It really breaks things down for you and isn't just one bloke of text. Everyday it gives you things to think about, pray about and try to apply to your daily life. It is also absolutely fab at explaining what the passage actually means on a deeper level or gives you some history/background to help you understand the context in which the passage is written.

IgotaBFP · 11/02/2008 11:12

Oops, forgot to name change back.....

IgotaBFP · 11/02/2008 11:12

Don't go telling everyone though [strict emoticon]
