Aww thanks for the lovely comments guys! I did work extra hard to make it tidy - it usually looks like there is a family of gypsies living with us

Just went on the market today so hoping to get some action next week

How's your dd now swaliswan? Did work ring yet? Praying for you.

Swaliswan · 31/01/2008 19:25

Work hasn't rung yet. DD is currently crying instead of sleeping which is very unusual as she always goes to bed really well in the evening.

CaptainDippy · 31/01/2008 21:18

Hope she settled ok in the end SS.

I am baby-sitting for friends, they have a colour-changing mouse!

OP posts:
PandaG · 01/02/2008 07:59

Morning all!

hope DD finally settled...our DS (8) is very wakeful at the moment, and often appears over 2 hours after bedtime looking exhausted and wound up that he can't sleep. We pray, cuddle, let him isten to a story tape, do a wind down after tea...and guggestion gratefukk received!

CaptainCaveman · 01/02/2008 08:27

Panda what happened to your keyboard there!? Attack of the ggggggremlins?

Praying you get the answers you want today from work SS, and that dd is ok too. How is she now?

Friend still not in labour....praying hard for her.

THANK YOU GOD - for the absolutely gloriously wintery sunny day outside. Its brrrrrr cold but sooooooooo beautiful. If you get snow I pray you can enjoy it and that it doesn't disrupt you too much. Here [SPLAT] have a virtual snowball

DutchOma · 01/02/2008 09:09

Did anybody ever hear back from Harrisey? I just can't remember..
How are you Bobsmum? Snowed in again?
We have no snow at all and are only likely to get flurries at best. Oh well, count your blessings

Swaliswan · 01/02/2008 09:44

DD finally went to sleep and woke up at 9 and 1:30-3:00 and then at 6:00 when (not so)DH's alarm went off and he had to turn a light on to work out how to turn it off. Grrrrrr, grrrrrrr and double-grrrrrrrr DD and I are both exhausted. She howled at me when I dropped her off at nursery so now I feel really guilty as well as exhausted. I wasn't very patient in the night with DH

On the plus side she now doesn't have a temperature and is eating. I'm hoping she is OK and am wondering how long to leave it before I phone nursery.....

CaptainDippy · 01/02/2008 09:49

She'll be fine, SS - just be glad you don't have to deal with grumpy little DD - Leave nursery to do it for a change! xx

No suggestions for your DS, Panda; but am praying. xx

Morning all. Flying by.

Panda, I just wrote a huge reply so I've cut and pasted it into an email, rather than fill up this thread with our "how to get an 8 year old to sleep" ideas! Hope they help.

God bless all.

DutchOma · 01/02/2008 10:25

Hope you have a rest yourself SS. And chocolate. You dealt with it as best you could under the circumstances. Hope your parcel has arrived.
Panda, have you tried a clock in his bedroom that he can see at night? We found that two clocks, one real one and one with movable hands worked very well, because you could set the movable clock to,say, 20.30 and say that he could come downstairs when the real clock said the same.
My brother's children were always allowed to read as long as they liked and parent would turn the light off at their bedtime.

ZipadiSuzy · 01/02/2008 11:48

cc - [splat] back .........

no snow here, had a massive hailstorm but sun has come out and melted everything. THink snow is forecast for tonight.

Praying for a better night for you tonight SS

Roseylea · 01/02/2008 13:01

Hello all! Flying by, as NQGU says!

CCM lovely house - let's hope you get a buyer soon.

Panda my heartfelt sympathies over the sleep thing - dd is a real night-owl and does not like going to bed!

I'm about to take ds in the front garden for a tidy up / play session. It's a beautiful day here! Really sunny and crisp. Praise the Lord, my chest is doing really well - I haven't succumbed to this infection. Okay, time to put the wellies on!

CaptainDippy · 01/02/2008 13:01

Hi Panda!

CD, I now have a strange image in my mind re: Rosey's chest...

Roseylea · 01/02/2008 16:49

Hmm, maybe I should have worded that a bit differently!

PandaG · 01/02/2008 17:39

Had mail thanks NQGU

really glad the infection hasn't gone to your chest Rosey, and at Mary's mental image!

Both Dcs are now at sleepovers...we were going to take advantage and go out for dinner but I am going down with a cold and feeling a bit bleurgh, can't decide what to do. Hmmmm

happy weekends all

CaptainDippy · 01/02/2008 19:10

GO OUT PANDA!!!!

Well that's what I would do anyway!

LOL @ Mary and Rosey's chest

Well it is offcially, DD2 has Chicken Pox Poor love - pray she is over it soon and that I haven't killed her by the end of next week

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 02/02/2008 07:57

Aww, praying for ds2 CD, am still waiting for ds to get it despite having blatantly exposed him no less than 4 times in the past!

Praise God for Rosey's chest - now if you didn't know this was a prayer thread you would wonder what kind of thread you had stumbled in to!!

Sooz, DO and PAnda (nearish to Nottingham) did you get any snow? I think we had a couple of flurries but it melted within 10 minutes. It's just frosty this morning.
Praying that those of you with snow aren't hampered by it, and are able to enjoy it!!

Praying for happy peaceful saturdays for you all. Ds is off to a pirate party at midday - shiver me timbers!

CaptainCaveman · 02/02/2008 07:58

erm, make that dd2 CD (sorry!)

DutchOma · 02/02/2008 08:05

CC, Dh shouted excitedly upstairs that it was snowing, when I looked out of the window I couldn't see anything and there is nothing now. Just frosty, as you say.

CaptainDippy · 02/02/2008 08:56

Yeah right - absolutely no boys apart from DH in DippyLand, CC! Oooooh, Pirate Party - sounds fun! DD1 has a Party this pm, which I am taking her to and leaving DH at home with poor spotty little DD2 & P - she has more this am and is a little less nutter-ish than usual, seems ok enough though. Don't know if P has any spots yet as she's still sleeping!! Bless!

Yey for snow - it's sunny here, definitely no snow on the Sunny South Coast!
