We pray for ourselves:- that we may make time to be "Marys" as well as "Marthas" in all the busy-ness leading up to Christmas.

We pray for our precious husbands in the words of the prayer I quoted earlier:-

Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man;
Love to forgive him;
And Patience for his moods;? and?
we won't go into the rest of the prayer so close to Christmas. (Full text on the old thread)

Pray for NorthernLurker's dh to find a job soon and for Harrisey's dh to find the strength to do a stressful job. Also for Bobsmum's dh to find a new job before February. We pray for peace and quiet over Christmas in all household, especially where dh is not fully committed to the Christian faith, that they may see the loveliness of Jesus around them.
We pray for those without husbands, for NSFN and Mummy2T&F. Also for Creambunnie.

We pray for our children; from the tiny unborns (Podglet, Bobsmum and CaptainCaveman) to include all our children young and not so young. Pray that we will be able to show them the love of Christ. That we may be able to protect them, help them. We pray for Roseylea's dd, Bobsmums ds, Mary's ds, NQGU's ds, that they may be able to cope with life at school and with the holidays.

We pray for those who have suffered bereavement, for QoQ family on the loss of their much loved grandfather. For Mufti's dh who lost his father recently as did Santas(Shreks)missus' dh.
We pray for Pepperpots in her loss

We pray for those with worries over sick friends and relatives, for Spookymadmummy's Mum and for her stepdad, just out of hospital, for CaptainCaveman's friend and little one in hospital, (Lord if possible, bring her out of hospital before Christmas) also for her teenage friend with eating disorders. We also pray for CC's dsis and her dd. Lord, we pray Your healing over that whole family.
We pray with Muppetgirl for her mil and her mother, who is ill and a long way away.
Lulumama and Rubyslippers' grandma.
We also remember OJ and Steve and their 3dcs in our prayers.

We give thanks with Geekymummy for healing in her marriage for PandaG doing well in her new job and enjoying it.
We pray for TheWiltedRose that she may have a very happy Christmas and that she may come to see the One Who is behind it all.
And we pray for CaptainDippy that she may feel surrounded by the love of Christ who is the Provider in all her needs.
We pray for 'absent friends', for Soozy, Creambunnie and MumtoGusandAlbie
Lord, we bring You our prayers and our worship in this Christmas period.

Our church runs a charity shop and during the year we collect some of the nicest things we have been given for a Giveaway day which was this morning. We had tonnes of stuff, four tables full, all new, all beautiful and we stood in the street and asked people to come in and choose a free Christmas gift. Coffee, tea, a hot mulled drink and mincepies were on offer as well, all of course without any charge. Only one out of every six or seven passers-by would even like to come in. Some of those who did come in left without taking anything. Those who came in and 'got' the meaning of it were totally gobsmacked.
It made me understand a bit of what God feels

Do what a lovely idea. You've made me sit and think now, don't know if thats good or bad, because everytime I think I end up feeling fed up.

We've got coverdale puppets in the morning and dd has already said I don't like puppets so I feel a fun morning ahead.

DutchOmainapeartree · 15/12/2007 21:23

NSFN It's a good thing to think about what God holds out to us. So often we have problems not because we don't love God enough but because we don't realis just how much He loves us. So many people this morning walked by saying "No thank you", I think that's so often how we are to God. "All very well, nice idea, but thank you." What are you doing over Christmas or shouldn't I ask?

christmas I'm working an early Christmas day so thats 7.30-3.30 xh is coming chirstmas eve and not going home till he goes to work on the Thurs.

Every day I keep waiting for either the solicitor to ring or for divorce to arrive. Knowing my luck it will be 4 days before christmas which will be aniversary of when things really started to fall apart this time last year - when xh had the fit.

We were going to go to dp on boxing day but there's no way that i'm working chirstmas day and not seeing the kids then putting them in the car for 4 hours on boxing day, so we are going new years eve after i finish work.

I think I need a new job.

{{{{{{{NSFN}}}}}}}} Praying for you. xxxx

Off to bed now, night, night .....

Roseylea · 16/12/2007 08:11

DO what an insight.

Praying for you NSFN.

Well I'm sitting here eating leftover cold take-away pizza for berakfast..! (Ssssh! Don't tell the food police!!!)

DingdongMaryBonhigh · 16/12/2007 08:29

DO - a lovely gesture. I think part of it is, that nowadays people are still mistrustful of "something for nothing", whether or not it's from a group of Christians.

During the summer, while we were on holiday in Cornwall, a group of churches did a free BBQ. We walked right past it, but DH STILL wouldn't go and join in. He was afraid of being preached at I think ! He should be used to it, being married to me .

Having said all that, its what Christianity is all about, something for nothing, a gift of grace freely given, its a just question of whether or not we choose to accept it.

Please continue to remember Andrew Gosden in your prayers - AFAIK, still no news. Christmas will be a very hard time for that family, if still nothing by then...

Praying NSFN, its a fraught time for you, I know what its like, waiting for that letter, and my heart goes out to you.

Rosey, what type of pizza? I think I'd have at least blasted it in the microwave, especially if it were a Pizza Hut Super Supreme!

SpookyMadMummy · 16/12/2007 08:46

My mum needs your prayers more than ever, ladies.

Praying, SMM. {{{{{hugS}}}} xxxxxxxxxxx

CaptainCaveman · 16/12/2007 12:44

Praying SMM, May God's love surround all your family.

Praying too for Andrew, and all those in hospital. May the miracle of Jesus' birth show as miracle's in their lives too. Remembering Andrew, CC's friend D, SMMs mum.

How are you all today? All good in CC land, ds at mum's and returning home shortly. I slept until 9,10 this morning!

I love what your church do DO, it would be wonderful to see too. I suspect people are suspicious of receiving 'something for nothing', or feel guilt about taking something from a church/charity shop. How fantastic though that some people do 'get it', and praying that you touched many more people who went on their way with 'food for thought'.

DippyChristmas · 16/12/2007 14:50

Hello CC - @ your lie-in - I wish! I am exhausted today - chance of a break!!!!? A bit less than 0%, me thinks .....

DutchOmainapeartree · 16/12/2007 14:51

Praying for you and your mother Spookymadmummy. What a worrying time for you. Special prayers for dd on her birthday too.

We've had 2 lots of "carol" singers round tonight... BOTH lots burst into song with "We wish you a merry Christmas", both were stopped and asked to sing a real carol, neither of the 2 groups could sing the first verse of Away in a Manger (without prompting from me!). Am I mean?

SpookyMadMummy · 16/12/2007 20:18

Ladies, I have updated my other thread. Your prayers are definitely helping as there has been a small step towards turning the corner... and my mother is turning into a terrible flirt

DippyChristmas · 16/12/2007 21:12

Oh, SMM, I am glad and LOL @ your mother's flirting, honestly!! Continuing to pray sweetie. xxxx

Good on you, Mary is what I say!!

DingdongMaryBonhigh · 17/12/2007 08:20

I just want to share my new favourite hymn. Does anyone know it? We sang it for the second time yesterday. The words are stunningly beautiful and the music is SO uplifting!

CHRIST, BE OUR LIGHT

  1. Longing for light, we wait in darkness.
Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, Light for the world to see.

Chorus:
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light! Shine in your Church
Gathered today.

  1. Longing for peace, our world is troubled.
Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has power to save us Make us your living voice.

Chorus

  1. Longing for food, many are hungry.
Longing for water, many still thirst. Make us your bread, broken for others, Shared until all are fed.

Chorus

  1. Longing for shelter people are homeless.
Longing for warmth, many are cold. Make us your building, sheltering others, Walls made of living stone.

Chorus

  1. Many the gifts, many the people,
Many the hearts that yearn to belong. Let us be servants to one another, Making your kingdom come.

Chorus

DutchOmainapeartree · 17/12/2007 10:37

That's really lovely Mary. Do you know where we can find the music?
SMM mother has made it through another night. Praise God.

Lovely hymn, Mary - Thank you for sharing, Mary!! xx

DingdongMaryBonhigh · 17/12/2007 15:44

Its by Bernadette Farrell.

I found it on Youtube as part of a feature on Mother Theresa. The hymn starts at about 2 mins 15sec. We sing it a bit quicker though - sounds more joyous that way!

Christ be our Light

TheIceQueen · 17/12/2007 15:50

Hi everyone - lovely words Dingdong.

Granddad's funeral is this Friday afternoon. We're traveling down on Thursday and coming back Saturday - we've booked a b&b just south of Bristol, but still haven't sorted out childcare for the DS's though so prayers for that would be great......

podglet · 17/12/2007 20:26

Hi all,

Sorry not to catch up again but I have a request. Please could you pray for me as I am struggling tonight. I am exhausted, still full of cough / cold, struggling with full time work and DS and DP, feeling like a bad mother and coping with being pg too. Last straw came when DP just lectured me for burning a saucepan because I was rushing. He spoke to me like I was some sort of backward child and I am so sick of being tteated like this. I do nearly everything here, I am getting up to DS 6 nights of out 7. I was rushing (custard for DS's tea) becauwe he was swanning about in the bath and on the PC, whilst I was doing everything else. But of course, no one is more tired than him and I have of course brought this all upon myself.

Please help me, I don't know how much more I can take.

DutchOmainapeartree · 17/12/2007 20:50

Oh Podglet, only just saw this. Men can be really difficult to cope with; more than likely he has had an awful day at the office, but that is no reason to sound off at you.
Hope you will be able to take a break soon. Put some biological washing powder in the custard pan and leave it till tomorrow, will come up a treat.

podglet · 17/12/2007 21:07

Thank you lovely DO, but he's thrown the saucepan out in a temper I'm so tired of everything.

PandaG · 17/12/2007 21:10

praying for your peace Podglet, and for resolution between you.

DutchOmainapeartree · 17/12/2007 21:51

So he will make the custard next? In a new pan he's bought for you? Oh Podglet, no wonder you are tired of it, big {{{hugs}}}.
Go to bed if you can get comfortable.
