Podmog, that's not in the least daft - we don't spend enough time on prayer for the big things.
I saw your message last night and deliberately put it out of my mind - nothing gained by lying awake about it - but picked it up again as I heard the news this morning.
I think we all have those horrible pictures of burning heaps fresh in our mind, God forbid we have anything like that again.
Mufti, one way of prayer which I find helpful is to hold a picture of who or whatever you are praying for in your mind before the Lord. Even if that goes in very quick succession, as Mary said, God can pluck those thoughts out of our mind however quick we flit from one to the other.
The other thing I do is to thank God that He knows all our needs and the needs of our family and friends and will answer to them before we even ask him. God is good.
Hope you have a wonderful time rafting Mary and that your body and mind keep up with each other.

Hi everyone, it was lovely to meet Mary and her family, they are very nice people. Mary, did I spot a wicked glint in your dh's eye when he mentioned taking pictures of you on your rafting venture...

Hope it went ok though and that you enjoyed yourself, it looks like the sun came out too!

OJ - praying for your DH, and for Peter.

Please pray for N. I have found out she is in hospital - her ear infection sounds like it has got worse and they have had to operate. They don't seem to know what this "flesh-eating" type bug is, its none of the known ones.

CCM - it was GREAT meeting you and your DS yesterday. I too can report back that CCM is lovely and you should all meet her if you get the chance

I'm going to do a public here, for texting CD/Panda to say I had been "baptised by total immersion", referring to my falling in several times on the WWR (I have pix showing this happening). My weird sense of humour. Unfortunately its difficult to convey humour in texts, so they thought I really HAD been baptised . SORRY CD/Panda!

I had a really good time yesterday though, but I ache all over this morning! Please pray I don't get a stomach upset from swallowing large amounts of the Trent river!

MaryBS · 05/08/2007 07:07

Oh and yes CCM, there probably WAS a glint in DH's eye, thats the sort of thing that would amuse him!

CaptainDippy · 05/08/2007 14:16

Hi All,

'tis a small world indeed NSFN - my aunty and her tribe lived in the house opposite the chip shop in Hope, just down the road from the church.

Glad you had a lovely hol CD

Sorry, not too much time to catch up, hope everyone else is ok and praying for this lovely weather to continue

Thoughts to OJ and Misdee and their DH's

CaptainCaveman · 06/08/2007 07:06

Morning all

had a rubbish sunday of sorts - started back on citalopram on Friday, and one of the side effects can be temporary worsening of anxiety/panic. Oh my, felt so awful yesterday. My friend from church encouraged me to receive prayer after the service which I did - and Praise God, my anxiety disappeared until bedtime! However, had a really rough night. Anxiety, panic and just about every other side effect listed on the leaflet. Please pray for the anxiety and panic to stop. Man I'm knackered.

I must say, receiving prayer was FANTASTIC. One of the ladies said afterwards that she felt Jesus very strongly saying to me "I bring you My peace, I leave you My peace". A very warm and uplifting experience.

But enough about me. Welcome back CD, we missed you!

Mary, hope the Trent didn't give you anything unpleasant

Praying for your dh OJ, praying all goes according to plan.

PandaG · 06/08/2007 09:41

Morning all

Well I am back from 2 weeks away, first at New Wine and second at my parents - DC are still there enjoying the sun, sand, GP's time and last but not least the fantastic Beach Mission - DH and I both became Christians through the mission, just 10 years apart!

As I think Worz said, I had a much more relaxed New Wine than I could possibly have hoped for, and God really spoke to me, so thanks so much for all your prayers. Mark Stibbe was fab, his exposition of Romans 8 really hit the spot for me - so much so that Worzella and I were swapping notes to make sure we had got full notes of what he had said! I echo what she said on Thursday about wanting to live in more freedom - I've had lots of teaching, I need to learn to live it out. Today is where the rubber hits the road, will be the first time I have been on my own for over 2 weeks, and I know I find that very hard. And yes, I am going out and doing stuff, but I do need to do some domestic things too.

Enough of me, Welcome Podglet, great to meet you. I am 35, married for 14 years (this Wednesday), and have DS 7 and DD 5. I live in Sheffield.

Great to see you NSFN, praying for your stomach.

OJ, my prayers are with you and your DH.

Glad you enjoyed your hols CD

Thank you God for this fantastic sunshine

Love to you all - it is good to be back! xx

PandaG · 06/08/2007 09:42

please pray for ds, he has had diorrhea (sp, i know), since friday.
i have seen gp, and they dont think hes dehydrated, which was my concern, hes hardly eaten or drunk much.
hes very tired , but has no other symptoms, she thinks its viral, although i feel they say that when they dont really know .
hes fairly chirpy , but a bit fed up i think
its so horrible when they are like this and you cant just take it away, and sometimes i get a fear that i will lose him.
ive been strong most of the time, just sometimes.
