Hello all!

I just did my first session of hospital chaplaincy visiting! A bit daunting at first, but it was so touching talking to people. I was on a surgical ward, so the people were either waiting for, or recovering from surgery. There was one lady who is waiting for for her 18th operation on her stomach. One lady in particular I had a really deep talk with, she was a lifelong christian and aged 87 facing her life's end. I prayed with her and talked to her about Jesus being with her, giving her the comfort and assurance she needs for each day. It was very moving and I was fighting back tears by the end of the convo!

Hope you are well again soon Mary.

Off to our first-ever parents' consultation doe ds in a minute, then onto the hospital to get dd's meds...

Roseylea · 06/07/2007 13:20

doe = for (in case you didn't get it!)

Roseylea - CONGRATULATIONS, what a lovely job to do, thats the sort of thing I'd love to comfort and support the dying, I've done it to 4 member of the family and find it sooo rewarding. well done you, although sounds as though it could be quite draining but well satisfying! (my english is getting worse)

Notquitegrownup · 06/07/2007 13:51

Hi all

CD - I've CATTed you about the family you are staying with and sent you their phone number. Did the message not get through?

PandaG · 06/07/2007 17:08

Hello all

friends DD should have come out of hospital yesterday thanks so much for your prayers all.

I'm feeling low, fine when Iam with people, but naff when I am on my own. Determined that this isn't going to cycle into a full on depression, but please pray for insight as to how to plan to deal with this.

Praying for you all

CaptainCaveman · 06/07/2007 20:27

Hey Panda, praying for your friends dd, great news indeed! Praying for you too, that the Lord will guide you back to happiness.

Hello everyone!

BedofRosesitAint · 06/07/2007 21:32

Hi all,

Dh has arrived home.

I am praying for you all, but intermittently.

CD I use your updates as a guide, thank you for your dedication to this thread.

Am trusting God to find me the childcare I need for September.

Sorry that I am always so brief in posting, but I very much appreciate the kindness and support I receive here.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Boria x

MaryBS · 06/07/2007 21:44

Hi BoRiA! Good to see you . You too CCM.

Hugs and prayers Panda - I'm here if you need me! I find meditation helps...

DutchOma · 06/07/2007 21:48

Has anybody got any news about KSM and her dd, also about NASWM and the treatment her dh is having/has had today?

MaryBS · 07/07/2007 08:49

naswm has posted here:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=138&threadid=352034#7168715

She and her family need our prayers

Please also remember today those that are still suffering following the 07/07/05 explosions - those that were injured, those who help/helped the injured and those that lost LOs

Off to see family later (as its the baptisms)

MaryBS · 08/07/2007 07:17

Remembering naswm and her family in prayers... hoping and praying that the after effects of the medication for DH have lessened and become bearable. Praying for strength and support in God's love for them as they go through such a difficult and traumatic struggle...

Well, we had a lovely day yesterday! Dnieces looked adorable and loved the fuss being made of them. The service was really special, and not too long!

Caught up with some rellies (relatives) that I hadn't seen in years. Had a couple of interesting chats on religion, one with my Uncle (Jewish, but not very - caught him eating a piece of pork pie!) about Moses, and with my Aunt (not his wife, another aunt) about what I thought about certain people who said that the floods were God's judgement on the world for homosexuality. I think I held my own .

Please pray for one poor lady, who had an epileptic fit during the service.

OH OH OH! I was asked when the baby was due by one of my mother's friends! I said as far as I know I'm not pregnant! How personal can you get?

CaptainCaveman · 08/07/2007 11:59

Just a quick update - re A&J from church. She got her test results...all clear . Surgery was totally successful and they got all the tumour away, biopsies show none of it has spread. Praise God for this fantastic news, a truly wonderful example of the power of all our prayers.

Prayers needed for dsis though, she's back to drinking over 2 bottles of wine per day, hardly eating and looking at least 10 years older than she is. Poor dneice . I just don't know what to do to help her because she can't/doesn't want to help herself.

CaptainDippy · 08/07/2007 13:11

Happy Sunday! 2 sleeping girlies - one "ickle pickle" being given EBM by daddy.

Rosey - Wow - God is really using you & your gifts in the hospital chaplaincy job - sounds incredible - what a priviledge....

Suzy - Yey! - For new printers!! How was the Prom??

Yes I did get the 'phone number NQGU - Will call them later on today - VERY excited about next weekend!!

Panda - {{{{{hugs}}}} How are you feeling atm sweetheart? Praying lots. Great stuff that friend's DD is out of hospital - how is she doing??

Mary - Glad the Baptism was so lovely & you enjoyed seeing the rellies. @ someone aksing when the baby was due!!!!! What did you say?? Poor lady, having the fit in the service. Is she ok? Praying for her, not nice at all.

Praise God!!! for the lady at your churches "all clear" result CC - God is good! Praying for DSis & DNiece - wish I had the right words. Just that God would wrap them up in His unconditional love & healing power. xx

Praying for NASWM & her family. xx

Will do round-up this evening hopefully.

Please can i ask for prayers for me and my husband this month - we really need the guy upstairs to look after us towards the end of the month (starting now!) as we're a bit skint (for a bit skint I mean we will run out of money for food in about 6 days).

I'm waiting to hear about when to start a job but it's all cutting a bit fine now and I'm worried and slightly afraid

Me telling myself about the lillies in the field isn't working for me today

Roseylea · 08/07/2007 15:31

Hi Lauriefairycake!

I will say one for you. I know how stressful money (and lack of it) is, so I will pray with feeling!

I am in Herts too! Hooray!!! And I have just finished 'Chart Throb' - very good, very cynical, made me wonder how close to the truth it is (I suspect quite close!) I read tonnes too - I'm onto "A spot of bother" now.

We went to a special service this morning to celebrate 50 years of the church in which I grew up, was christened and confirmed. It was really nice - loads of children, who were very welcomed and not told to be quiet! Hooray! Around the walls were photos from the last 50 yrs and there I was in the early 80s, about 8 or 9 yrs old, with an enormous 'mushroom' hairdo! And the piece de resistance --- my little brother sitting on a real donkey one Palm Sunday when we had a procession around the local area! It brought back lots of happy memories...sigh...!

Mary I'm glad the baptisms went so well. I'm sure the lady who asked when the baby's due didn't mean anything rude by it!

God bless xxx

CaptainDippy · 08/07/2007 22:34

Awwwww, Rosey - Sounds lovely - glad you enjoyed yourself!

LFC - Heeeeeeeeello!! I know EXACTLY how it feels to not even have enough money to feed yourself, trust me - Lots & lots of prayers going up for you. so stick with us -we're a nice bunch really!
