StewPots I looked up the glass pen idea by Whatsallthisaboutthen
and she's spot on!
How to instructions

You can use it as a wand and also write magical things with it Halloween Grin
What a lovely find.

StewPots · 31/10/2018 10:52

@BlankTimes wow thank you, yes just clicked on the link. Never heard of a glass pen! What an amazing little thing, yes I should learn to write with it in my Book of Shadows, a dual purpose item 😁

Whatsallthisaboutthen · 31/10/2018 11:07

You’ve got me wanting one now 😁

Bellecose2 · 31/10/2018 13:20

I've put out my offerings early. (hopefully not too early?) I have particular cause to give thanks. I was protected this morning. Felt the guidance and the protective shield. I have taken the lesson to stop putting myself in unnecessary dangerous situations. I won't do it again. Lesson learned. My gratitude knows no bounds and my candle is lit.

Samhain blessings to you all..

Good Samhain to all the lovely witches here!

The light today has been beautiful. I have set out all my goodies and will continue to light candles.

I am grateful for the this space and the opportunity to be in the company of other witches.

Blessings to you all ✨✨

PawneeParksDept · 31/10/2018 13:45

Is it the case that tonight is generally a strong night for spells?

Having not found quite what I want language wise I have come up with an idea of my own that works on a number of levels for me and I'm quite keen to try it out

BlankTimes · 31/10/2018 14:20

Whats yes, those pens are beautiful

Pawn tonight is when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest. the thinning spreads over quite a few days either side.

This is from Google, it gives a general idea.

Belle really pleased you've had that experience of protection.

Elphame · 31/10/2018 14:47

Happy Samhain everyone.

I have apple cake in the oven ready for tonight's teaching ritual and the mirrors polished. We'll be doing a variation on the dumb supper (where you lay a place at table for the departed and share your food with them).

PawneeParksDept There are a couple of schools of thought on that. Some will say that you should never cast spells on the sabbats. Other's say its a powerful time so go ahead. As usual the answer is do what your instinct tells you. As Samhain for me falls on the 7th November this year I have a number of heavy workings I plan to do on that date before my gods withdraw from me until Yule (which tells you on which side of the divide I sit!).

ManicUnicorn · 31/10/2018 14:54

Ive carved two pumpkins this year, and have put one in the front window so passing children know we are trick or treat friendly! Ive always loved Halloween and we've always celebrated it.

PawneeParksDept · 31/10/2018 14:54

@Elphame having just looked at the explanation of the 7th, that seems like something more concordant with my heritage (Irish) and general interests/views.

speakout · 31/10/2018 15:08

Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhain to everyone.

I like to use the whole week to celebrate.( any excuse)

I understand the reason for the 7th on November, but I also like to celebrate tonight.

I love the collective vibe that happens tonight, so many thousands of people celebrating simultaneously is a huge energy storm that I like to be part of.

Similarly at chroistmas- although I celebrate the solstice and Yule I also love to tap into the huge energies created on the 24th/25th and use that as part of my winter celebrations.

So it's all good as far as I can see!!

@PawneeParksDept I use the lunar calendar so there is always a bit of variation. It just makes most sense to me. The calendar has changed a number of times and you need quite a bit of astronomical knowledge to calculate the solar date which would have been beyond your average person unless they had a centre of learning nearby. As I'm mostly folk practice based, the lunar calendar just works for me for all the cross quarter dates.

@speakout - what just a week Wink! I started last Saturday! It was the fancy dress party last night and I too will be tapping into the energy of tonight's egrigore in this evenings work. Luckily we're not on the "trick or treat circuit" so we shouldn't be disturbed.

InTheTempest · 31/10/2018 15:54

Happy Samhain everyone.

I've been cleaning the house this afternoon, ready for a house viewing at about 5pm (house is for sale). Any magical suggestions for getting them to buy the house?! Grin Will start lighting my candles as it gets dark.

Bellecose2 · 31/10/2018 16:00

I'm so excited for this Halloween... It feels like my first one. I've just put out a glass of sherry and candles in front of my family photographs (as they were known to like a tipple in their time, as do I!) Put food outside in the garden.. sweets ready for the trick or treaters. Feel so happy but am struggling to explain what I'm doing to curious raised eyebrows. Halloween Wink

GrumpyOldMare · 31/10/2018 16:02

Blessed Samhain everyone.

My altar is ready, candles under my photos of Mum and Nan.
Pumpkin carved and candle in ready to light.
Sweets ready for the little ones.
Later on I'll do my ancestor's ritual.

Bellecose2 · 31/10/2018 16:08

Ps... thank you Blank

Elphame · 31/10/2018 16:14

Any magical suggestions for getting them to buy the house?

I got banned from a needlework group which was very christian based once for commenting on this very topic!

Someone ( real hardcore christian btw) had suggested that you buy a statue of St Joseph and bury him upside down in the front garden telling him to expedite the sale of the house. When he comes through you dig him up and place him in a place of honour.

Amongst the chorus of agreement that this was a tried and tested method I happened to comment that it was also pure witchcraft.... Lets just say it didn't go down too well. Possibly me saying that witches don't generally treat their allies with such scant respect didn't help!

InTheTempest · 31/10/2018 16:25

Elphame Grin I wonder if the people viewing will think anything of my little display, I hadn't thought of that before! It's pretty tame to be honest.

Just realised, I haven't got any photos of my gran in the house. Before we split, my 'D'H stole some photos and letters from her that were precious to me, and threatened to destroy them. You can tell why I'm delighted to be away from him.... Anyway when I got them back I got my DM to keep them at her house and they are still there. I'm burning lavender oil as my gran loved lavender.

VioletCharlotte · 31/10/2018 18:02

Blessed Salmain everyone... and Happy Halloween 🎃

I love Halloween so much, always have done. I love the energy that's in the air and seeing the little ones in their costumes, all so excited.

I'm off to my spiritual development group later, I'm hoping to make some strong links as the veil is thinner, really looking forward to it.

My ritual is to light a candle before i go to sleep. I'll put a picture of my grandparents next to it and meditate for a while. Im hoping they'll come through to me in my dreams.

Have a lovely evening.

gladheart · 31/10/2018 18:22

Happy Samhain everyone! Inspired by your sharings I've lit some candles and dropped some rosewood oil into them. Enjoying the wonderful scent and relaxing with you all tonight.

YashmisCrone · 31/10/2018 20:51

Happy Samhain all!

I’ve loved reading what everyone is doing, I’m smiling at the wonderful energy round the fire tonight Halloween Smile

Candles lit and oils burning here, reflecting on my ancestors and inviting them close... fresh apple and pear cake to tempt them!

Have a wonderful evening all,
Blessed be x

PawneeParksDept · 31/10/2018 21:03

Happy Samhain!

As it turns out I have to wait to the 7th anyway, having work done and my heating is off til tomorrow, deathly cold here and will have to get in bed early
