A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration

All welcome.

blankTimes Yes I do try to practise mindfulness. Unfortuntately the situation has the potential to be a life or death situation. So I allowed myself a little time to ponder panic over it and then focused on something else. It is a difficult one. Hopefully the person who has a supervisory role on the situation is able to manage it well. Will have to see how it progresses.

Sokere

I think the thing about Tarot is that there are no " bad" cards.

Even ones that seem to cast a picture of despair always have that chick of ;light, a spark of hope.
Readings that show others around us are maybe not as helpful as we thought are useful, maybe not to make big changes to to allow us to be watchful, to consider the motives of others.

I have a few decks, I think one of the reasons I fell in love with my new deck- the Everyday witch is that the hope in even the gloomiest cards is graphically displayed clearly- a rising sun, a bird on the window ledge.
And that is a great metaphor for life isn't it.
No matter how desperate we are there is always room for hope- otherwise we have no life.
Finding that spark from somewhere- that energy, no matter how small is something we can hold on to, to fan and kindle until that spark becomes a flame.

And my lovely new deck shows that so clearly, maybe that other darker decks don't.

Just some morning muesli musings!

Back to work!!

Morning everyone.

Speakout your morning sounds much nicer than mine! I would love to be crafting rather than dealing with meetings and emails.

Agree with you about the Everyday Witch deck. I struggled for years with another deck. I love doing readings now.

Hills so sorry you're going through a difficult time. Sending positive energy and love your way 💕

Gladheart keeping everything crossed for you 🐱

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good afternoon all,
Just checking in as I’m taking some time to replenish my energy this afternoon. My recent family commitments have left me depleted!
I’m actively dismissing thoughts of what I ‘should’ be doing and telling myself that self care is a vital and necessary use of time! Time to refill my cup before getting on with it all again tomorrow..

Can anyone recommend something uplifting/strengthening I could listen to/watch to help me along?

I’ve already been helped along the way by a surprise gift from a dear friend. It’s a beautiful picture that she’s designed and handcrafted to represent our long standing friendship/sisterhood. It’s her own take on an ancient design using materials special to us. She says it’s magic Grin I’m so moved by it. It’ll be hanging pride of place in my quiet room.

I like the ongoing tarot discussion. I’d agree the 10 of swords is the end of a cycle to me. Often a difficult one but it certainly means it’s all out in the open and over with. Clearing a space for a new cycle.

For those new to tarot or wanting to practice the Celtic cross spread/card meanings (or just for the fun of it!) I quite like this online reading. When you click on each card it gives you a meaning for the card and the position in the spread. Here’s one I did earlier!

Yes, I like that site and her readings. Can't open your link on my phone but will try later.

YashmisCrone · 13/11/2018 16:15

You’ve probably seen it already if you’re familiar with the site- it’s the Celtic cross reading. I also sometimes enjoy the single card video readings.

I like Michele Knight- I think she has a very positive approach. I also enjoy her weekly astrology videos and some of the written articles there

I have a question I have been pondering. Espalier trees, do you think that the training of the branches is a bad thing magically speaking? I have been pondering the if I win the lottery and buy a large property what kind of trees would I like to plant. I know that I would like a medicinal garden, a food garden and a dye garden. But I would like an orchard/mini woodland. And yes it is all a pipe dream but it makes for a better day dream than those I have been sliding into. Apparently to win the lottery it helps if you buy a ticket. Doesn't stop me dreaming though and pondering the magic and interaction of energies.

BlankTimes · 13/11/2018 23:30

Hills I'm not keen on anything people do to make plants (or any other living thing) 'bend to their will'

The thing I detest seeing is trees and hedgerows "trimmed" using a flail. It rips the branches off and damages the plants I'm sure. Even driving past a recently flailed hedge upsets me beyond words.

I'm an organic lazy gardener, mainly I only grow things the slugs don't eat and many of the plants are from seeds the birds have brought but I've never wanted a garden like other peoples' anyway. Mine's mostly hawthorn, brambles, ash, holly lilac and birch, nettles, buddleia, lavender, mint, fuchsia, calendula marigolds, foxgloves, peonies, lupins and poppies. A few pics of some of mine.

Permaculture interests me a lot but I would need a lot more land and time to set something up. www.permaculture.co.uk/

You have a lovely bee and critter friendly garden there blank
Considering Espalier trees as making something "bend to your will" is a different view to small space fruit growing view that was prevalent in the Victorian gardens, and what I grew up with. Interesting that one of the articles on your link was to do with chickens and overwintering them. I had a dream last night where chickens I was supposed to be looking after froze to death because I got sick and couldn't get out in the snow to help provide extra heat. I was distraught. There has been a lot of trauma in my dreams lately.

I love to plant/have Oak, Silver birch, Rowan, WIllow (weeping if possible) amongst others. Rowan for the berries. But I am drawn to and find comfort in the other three. I have a sick day tomo, so I get to paper sketch and dream. I am hoping to create a unique wheel of the year - something I can display without it being very obvious what it is. I am quite excited about it.

Skyejuly · 14/11/2018 07:25

Morning all. Pink sky here xx

Sokere · 14/11/2018 08:19

Reading your posts on trees and planting makes me long for a big garden. One of my favourite trees is weeping willow.

@skyejuly. Lovely to see a pink sky

Sokere · 14/11/2018 08:37

@YashmisCrone.. Just noticed my follow up post from night disappeared into the ether. Hope you managed to find something uplifting to read. I posted this link to a site which you may like

Does anyone find that particular cards become so associated with certain people that it almost ruins the deck? My all time favourite cards are the Linestrider Tarot, but I’ve drawn the Queen of Cups so often in relation to my girlfriend that I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to read the card again without thinking of her. (Which isn’t a bad thing, she’s awesome 😉) I almost feel like I need to buy a new, totally different deck for readings for other people.

YashmisCrone · 14/11/2018 09:34

Thank you Sokere Smile

Skyejuly · 14/11/2018 10:58

We have a willow. I would love more though. Oh I wish I had an Oak too!

Elphame · 14/11/2018 12:12

BlankTimes - thank you for the bowl suggestion. I did find my old pieces of jet all mixed up with my iron age beads, replica divination spoons and the magical mirror Smile. I'm gong to polish the last two up and start using them now they are no longer needed for re-enactment so metal polish is OK

I've been working on a divination system combining tarot cards with charms. I have a good selection now but there are a number of gaps - something to indicate a blockage or obstacle being one of them. It's very much a work in progress. Some charms I included at the start I've now removed as they didn't work and some things I've added that people have given me.

Loyaultemelie · 14/11/2018 16:02

Afternoon all, I won't say good because it's grey and hangy and miserable here!
Skye we had a lovely oak who had been here for at least a hundred years until last December when the storm got her.
I have come for a coffee and a catch up I'm feeling as grey as the weather for some reason

Sokere · 14/11/2018 16:29

@Elphame Using charms with tarot for Divination sounds interesting. I'm currently feeling encouraged with the responses unfolding to my own practice, but surprised by some.

@what'sallthisabout Yes, I've often found that but rarely recognise myself. Representations change though I find and new decks can really spice things up.

@Loyaultemelie Sorry you had a bad day

speakout · 14/11/2018 16:42

Loyaultemelie

Sorry that the grey skies are getting you down.

Needed a tea and a Tarot draw when I got home.

Ace of cups. I am feeling a little more settled.

@speakout Smile

Interestingly, that was the card I pulled when I asked for a yes/no answer. The question was whether the birds following me this morning had anything to do with them! I tend to interpret Aces as yes.. but to actually have the birds as confirmation made me smile.

rivierliedje · 14/11/2018 18:01

I've been trying to follow these threads with interest. I have long been drawn to the paganism, especially the wheel of the year and following the changing seasons. Having grown up in a family that doesn't seem to care much about being outdoors, I'm trying to build those rituals in now.

Have you heard of Bealtaine cottage ?
An Irish woman transformed a barren bit of land into a permaculture garden. It's really beautiful.

VioletCharlotte · 14/11/2018 18:44

Hello, hope everyone's had a good day?

I'm looking for some help.. I suffer from recurring UTIs. I'm at the end of my tether. Antibiotics don't help, nothing seems to work. Do any of you have any natural remedies or anything at all that you think could help? 🙏

YashmisCrone · 14/11/2018 20:14

Good evening sisters,
It’s good to settle by the aga and catch up. I always find it soothing after a day at work.

BlankTimes what beautiful flower pictures. Thank you for sharing them, they’re very uplifting Smile

rivierliedje welcome. It’s good to have you join us. I hadn’t heard of that permaculture garden, but you mentioning it is another synchronicity for me so thank you. It’s a subject that appeals to me and keeps coming up. Maybe a direction for the future..

It’s lovely to hear of those blessed with the ace of cups energy, just when it’s been needed. The king of cups is a regular companion of mine atm. Also a comforting presence for me. I can’t link him to anyone IRL, I think it’s more of an energetic thing...

Violet sorry to hear of your ongoing UTIs. I’ve been having a look in some of my books, pictures attached are from this book, there’s more to come..
