Violet I'm sorry, I only just saw your post! My apologies - I didn't mean to nag!

BlankTimes · 12/11/2018 16:58

Elphame black ink on a saucer any good if you can't find the jet? Messy though.

PawneeParksDept · 12/11/2018 17:03

@MawkishTwaddle

Happy to help

10 Of Swords tends to mean sudden endings but often needed ones, such as finally filing for divorce following a long suffering marriage

Skyejuly · 12/11/2018 17:06

Hi everyone. I had a lovely day with friends today. I am nearing the end of my current cycle though and have terrible pms. Going to retreat later with a good meditation. Xx

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/11/2018 17:30

I typed a long answer to the questions I had yesterday. It never really felt right to hit post. So i didn't. Yes there are a lot of people in my life that are needy of my energy. But there are other medical issues too. The medical issues are causing me the most problems atm. And honestly I am struggling and an event today made me feel like I am causing more harm then good for others because of them. No reflection on the other person or their actions, and totally due to my enhanced knowledge of their situation. Totally a reflection on my situation. Hard to know what is for the best.

Seagullslanding · 12/11/2018 17:48

MawkishTwaddle

If you look closely at the 10 of Swords, in the distance a new day is dawning.

Yes its a pretty severe card, but its a 10, the end of a cycle. There is nowhere else to go but up.

All the stress and tension will pass. Giving way to the start of a new cycle.

Seagullslanding · 12/11/2018 17:55

MawkishTwaddle

The fool as a clarifier - The Fool is about taking a chance, a leap of faith.

I dont recognise the deck so i cant make out the other cards.

But with the 10 of Swords as an outcome and the Fool as Clarifier it may indicate that you need to take a leap of faith and trust that a new day is dawning. The Fool is often about New Beginnings and having trust.

MawkishTwaddle · 12/11/2018 20:08

Thank you all. I'm feeling a bit more reassured.

Thanks
speakout · 12/11/2018 20:15

MawkishTwaddle

That's great.

I agree with the others that the ten of swords means the worst is over.
It has been tough but new beginnings are in sight.

I hope you sleep well tonight,

You're a kind bunch of witches. I do like it here.

VioletCharlotte · 12/11/2018 21:28

Mawkish I've got this set too. I was going to take a look at your spread and give you my interpretation, but I'm absolutely shattered and ready for bed. Hopefully the answers from other posters have answered your question 😊

Goodnight all. I'm off to bed and really hoping for a dream free night. I've had too many vivid dreams just lately! Sleep well 💤

Monr0e · 12/11/2018 22:11

Oh dear, I feel I've fallen down the rabbit hole. Only on page 10 of the first thread and already I have 3 pages of notes and questions and 2 pages of book recommendations and new avenues to explore Smile

I feel little light bulbs coming on all over the place reading all your stories so far, it is lovely. speakout your DGM sounds fascinating. I am a student midwife in my final year, the history of midwifery is obviously one I am very interested in.

My DM is Scottish, the stories on the threads have reminded me of my own childhood in Scotland, my granny would scry in the fire and read tea leaves. I had forgotten till now!

I have also recently acquired a cat pretty much by accident. He was a stray who was due to be rereleased back onto the streets when we took him in. This was in April, He is very sweet and loving but would never sit on your knee until around a week ago. I have been ill and since I became poorly he will not leave me alone. In fact I have just had to move the laptop so he could climb up and stretch out on my lap. He is very much your stereo typical witches cat, jet black from head to toe, I will definitely be researching more about familiars!

I could waffle so much more, about empathy (I'm overloaded with it) and tarot which I have somewhere but haven't looked at for over 20 years, and a hundred other things that I have questions about but I think I need to head back to the previous threads and keep reading.

Thank you so much to speakout, Elphame and the many others who have posted on these threads and been so generous of their time and knowledge. I am very much looking forward to learning from you all.

BlankTimes · 12/11/2018 22:12

Hills sorry if I've asked you before, but do you practise Mindfulness? It may help to stop all the introspection and analysing if you could just BE in the now for a while every day. It's possible to overthink things and get into a real state, I've found Mindfulness extremely useful.

Mawkish Twaddle glad you got your reading sorted, as you know I don't read Tarot. Maybe there's a lesson in there for you though, vague questions give you answers you're not sure about. Try asking specific questions and see if your readings become clearer.
You're a kind bunch of witches. I do like it here

I don't usually speak for other people, let alone everyone, but in this case I will and say a collective Thank-You, this is such a nurturing, supportive environment, long may it remain so.

BlankTimes · 12/11/2018 22:20

Monr0e I posted a minute after you so didn't see yours as I was writing mine at the time.

Glad you're enjoying the previous threads, take your time, there's no rush, pause and savour whichever posts resonate with you. Fabulous that it's re-awkening some memories for you. Your cat sounds like my Dark Trilogy, you'll see pics of them as you work through the threads.

Time for another brew I think, I'll put the kettle on.

Loyaultemelie · 12/11/2018 22:21

Ah I had a whole post typed out earlier Mawkish but realised I didn't press post sorry! However others have summarised much more succinctly what I was waffling about, basically the only way is up and the circle starts again Thanks

I seem to be just in a fog today starting things and not finishing them! So before I fade out again welcome Monr0e!

Monr0e · 12/11/2018 22:37

Thank you both.

I'm going to start by seeking out a few of the books mentioned by Giggorata on the first thread and learning more about the areas that hold a particular interest to me.

It's reassuring to read there is no right or wrong way to approach these things so I will take my time and try to learn to be more open and welcome to things as they come to me.

I still have so many questions but will hold off on them all until I have finished the other threads so I'm not clogging up this one with ones already answered.

PawneeParksDept · 12/11/2018 23:04

I have just discovered there is an actual coven really near me, it is however full and the workshops advertised on the site are out of date Sad

TooManyPaws · 12/11/2018 23:42

Pawnee, privately message me where you are. I can direct you to a seekers group on Facebook where the coven members dropping in are vouched for as non-fraudulent. It might be a way of helping you find a group, even an outer group of a coven.

TooManyPaws · 12/11/2018 23:51

@monr0e
A couple of good and trustworthy books on the history of the Craft are Doreen Valiente's The Rebirth of Witchcraft (and her Witchcraft for Tomorrow) and Ronald Hutton's The Triumph of the Moon.

Doreen was one of the prime movers of modern Wicca and wrote much of the ritual poetry now used worldwide. She worked with most well-known witches of the 20th century, but was also deeply sensible, practical and modest. Her books got me into the Craft. Ronald knows the Pagan community from the inside as well as being a professor of history and all of his research and books are well worth reading.

Skyejuly · 13/11/2018 07:08

Morning all xx

speakout · 13/11/2018 08:08

Good morning Skyejuly and everyone. I can't believe I have only just woken up!
I always wake at 6am o thereabouts. I must have been needing this recharge.
A quick coffee and shower and into some Yule crafting today.

I hope the sparkle of magic touches your day today.

Morning all! I've been looking for a cat to come live with me and found one on a cat sanctuary site that, for the first time, seeing the picture felt she was "mine". Another family are seeing her this weekend so I have to wait to see if they want her. Keeping everything crossed. Never had this feeling before so I'm curious if it is true!

speakout · 13/11/2018 08:40

gladheart

How exciting.

But don't worry too much about that other family- a familiar finds you in my experience.
We have a saying in Scotland "Whit's fur ye'll no go by ye."

Meaning if is meant to be it will happen.

( Fingers crossed though)

Sokere · 13/11/2018 08:49

@speakout... My mother said that to me all the time... but with a different accentSmile

@gladheart..That first look in their eyes is magical. I was drawn to my own in a similar way.

@"MawkishTwaddle Agree with everyone else on the 10 of swords interpretation. It's not a 'bad' card as such.

Think we can personally identify with particular cards too. Way before I knew much about Tarot, I invariably pulled 9 of swords. At the time, I was being deceived but was refusing to acknowledge it. When I subsequently pulled the 10 of swords alongside, it signified (to me) that I'd stopped hiding from the truth, an ending but a move forward at the same time. Ever since, I instinctively associate 9 of swords with deceit of some kind... not always correctly of course.

My favourite card in the entire pack is Ace of Cups.. rarely pull it for myself but did this morning. Tarot has slowly become my main source of divination.

Sorry non Tarot readers. As you may tell, I am slightly obsessed!

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 13/11/2018 08:53

I love that saying @speakout and have reminded myself of it a lot of over the years. I’ve also generally found it to be true!
