I was raised as a witch- my grandmother was born in 1890 and taught me how to scry, knotwork, many magical activities. She was a dresser of the dead and a lay midwife ( before the NHS).
I now practice my craft with enthusiasm.
A little tricky as my extended family are not supportive.

Thanks light I remember it from childhood holidays, haven't been for years. My parents always went up north for summer holiday which is probably why I love the moors and the empty places.

We are going to Seahouses! Our itinerary so far is just castles and Lindisfarne! I can't wait!

I'm a sucker for sea glass and hagstones midnight. You can never have too many of either. I pick up all sorts. Lots of naturally occurring pebbles have magical properties. I collected a lot of quartz and epidote on my last trip to the sea. It's worth checking what minerals are in the area you're staying in and then keeping your eyes open.

You may be lucky and find some jet.

@KetoMe - no you don't need to do anything to your crystals. They are bursting with their natural energy anyway but you might like like to dedicate them to their job of protecting your home?

I've had a read and caught up on the posts made while I was away.

I did go to Glastonbury but it wasn't really a spiritual experience as I had the kids with me and we had done so much on holiday already that I just didn't have the physical or mental energy to walk all over town.
I actually don't feel drawn to the Chalice Well at all, and I think it is because since I was small I have been drawn to the sun and heat and fire. Water is not an element I feel an affinity with - aside from a really hot bath!
I did buy myself a few little bits and treated myself to a leatherbound notebook to start my own Grimoire.

Hi, just catching up.

Had a scare this week regarding a breast " abnormality", just spent the past few hours at the hospital breast clinic having Ultrasounds, exams, x rays.

Every thing has come back all clear. It;s been a scary week though!!

I can’t believe this thread is nearly full. I love this mini community that has sprung up.

I did a spell for a friend yesterday, a sort of abundance/money one like we were discussing (she doesn’t know) I didn’t know what to do with the little package I created so I’ve just carried it in my handbag so far. I keep getting lovely wafts of essential oils so that’s nice and reminds me to send out some more intentions her way.

Glad everything is Ok speakout. I've spent many unhappy hours at my own local breast unit over the last few years. Luckily all my abnormalities have also been benign but I'm on first name terms with the entire team of consultants and I know they haven't seen the last of me yet either unfortunately.

Midnight Have a lovely holiday! Hagstones and sea glass are fun to search for. This summer I have begun to string all my favourite hagstones together on a length of twine, to hang them up. I’m not sure if there is magic in this but it feels right and I’m trying to start following my instincts on these things a little more.

Zaphod your explanation of your beliefs really put some of my own thoughts and feelings into words better than I could. I agree, the magic of the synchronicity and symbiosis is all around us. I can see it and feel it and now through this thread I’ve realised lots of us can. Now I feel ready to start interacting with it intentionally. I’m just working out where to start!

I've got an incurable disease, which isn't life-shortening, but is life-limiting. I'm going to do some reading, but I wondered if anyone on here could give me some advice on spell-work. I'm not sure I believe as such, but I do believe that focussing my energies and giving myself a sense of control can be very emotionally strengthening. So, ideas on healing and strengthening spells/ rites would be very welcome

At the moment my Witchiness is all focussed around the sabbats, so my next aim to to incorporate some weekly rituals, perhaps moving up to daily eventually. I do love a ritual!

Sproutina - be a little careful about healing as it isn't always entirely safe. You don't say what is wrong with you but with energy manipulations you need to be careful that you aren't inadvertently feeding the condition.

Cancer is the classic one - energy can feed the cancer cells as well as the rest of you but you can get the same negative effects with some of the autoimmune diseases as well. Any illness where the body is effectively attacking itself requires very precise and skilful work. It's not something I would ever attempt but I can and do focus the healing work on giving support, strength and comfort to the person themself.

I hadn't thought of healing work in that way. I have an autoimmune disorder that is not serious but does impact on my quality of life. I know you say you wouldn't recommend something that might feed it, is there anything you would suggest?

zaphod It really is a catch 22. If it's an external agent causing the illness then you'd work to boost the immune system to help fight it off. If it's the immune system itself causing the problem then the last thing you want to do is to strengthen it.

One approach is to actually curse the illness. I know it's done in cancer healing - you place the curse on the cancer cells to destroy them. I can't see how cursing your immune system would help though as you do need one. I'm reasonably adept at general healing but I'd be very reluctant to attempt it in case I got it wrong.

I've always concentrated on supporting the mental state in this type of illness - hoping to help a little when the sufferer is worn down by the condition and the magical equivalent of a hug and a bit of TLC can give enough of a boost to help them cope when they're struggling.

^^ This sounds lovely, very comforting. So in answer to Sproutina I guess the strengthening side of things in relation to rites/spell work would be best?
