Church chat and all related things... weak coffee, dodgy tunes, rubbish attitudes... and the uplifting, inspirational, and hilarious too.

Praying blessings on your day Tiggles

DragonNoodleCake · 01/07/2018 07:35

I'm good MHD! Currently enjoying sun and relaxation in La Manga (Spain). I'm so blessed to have a good job so I can afford these luxuries and a family to share with!!
Although everyone but the DGS is sleeping so I'm watching CBeebies with him - far too early!!

Niminy · 01/07/2018 15:21

hello everyone, haven't been around for aaaages, but good to see people are still here chatting away.

I should be at church/on village green helping out with our Scarecrow Festival, but after a full day yesterday in the sun and leading two services this morning I needed a lie down! Will go back out into the heat in a bit - especially to help the lovely ladies in the sweltering refreshment tent.

FloralBunting · 01/07/2018 17:32

Busyness off the charts here. Been at work since 7 this morning, party here this evening, I just want to sleeeep...

Dutchoma · 01/07/2018 17:43

Sorry to hear that Flora. It’s too hot here for even a nap. We need a thunderstorm.

FloralBunting · 01/07/2018 18:14

Yes, it is incredibly close. Working in an air conditioned supermarket all day was pleasant on that score, the heat hit me like a wall when I left the store.

Dutchoma · 01/07/2018 19:07

Like stepping into an oven

Madhairday · 04/07/2018 07:32

Hey niminy, great to see you here :) can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks!

It has been far too hot, hasn't it! Bored of it and craving rain. Really struggling with breathing, some days better than others. Just so so tired.

How is everyone?

Dutchoma · 04/07/2018 09:19

Still struggling with the house upheaval. I got a recommendation for a wonderful handyman who is dealing with the shower, he is a real godsend. The fan should be gone by this afternoon and then the builder appointed by the insurance can start putting things back - that is if the drying out firm can be persuaded to tell the builders. They have been very busy you know, and have only jumped when I kicked them, gently of course, because I am such a nice person.

daffodildelight · 05/07/2018 21:30

Just saying hello. I am stressed out with so much end of term stuff at the moment - I can't wait for term to end. Haven't been to church for ages either as I have had so much on. I am desperate to get back this week and just feel that sense of peace and belonging that you get.

WiggyPig · 06/07/2018 14:07

Hello all! I fell off the forum for a while. Can I rejoin the thread?

Niminy · 06/07/2018 16:35

Madhairday the heat is grim, isn't it? Especially at night - I think everyone's getting tireder and tireder. We're in agribusiness land round here and the pollen is ridiculous.
Oma I am loving the idea of you gently kicking the builder. But I hope your kicks are effective.
Right! must go and put my clericals back on (had changed into wafty summer dress round the house) to go and do a wedding rehearsal. They're a lovely couple but I did have a bit of a moment during preparation when I said, 'so, how did you meet?' and they said 'it was love at first sight during a Conservative Party fete'. One of those times when you just have to say 'oh, how lovely' and leave it at that Confused

Dutchoma · 06/07/2018 18:35

Wiggypig welcome back, how are you doing?
Niminy that made me laugh so much, it goes to show that even Conservatives can be lovely.
I have a schedule of work needing to be done. I thought it would be two days at the beginning of the week for three weeks, and that they would finish at the beginning of the third week, but they cannot do that now and they may just finish the day before my friend comes for a few days to celebrate my birthday. And when I have the family round. I have not had any final dates, I suppose it will now have to wait till Monday before I hear anything back.

Madhairday · 06/07/2018 18:52

Oh niminy! Definitely a button up lips moment there Grin

You need a warty summer clergy dress. A friend of mine rocks that look, all chic gorgeous floatiness with her dog collar setting it all off even more somehow!

Oma - hope they get sorted soon, frustrating for you!

Yeah, tired of the heat. I've had a really bad couple of days with it.

Madhairday · 06/07/2018 18:53

Hahaha wafty not warty, I don't think that would be quite so chic...

Niminy · 06/07/2018 19:15

I've got a black linen clergy frock with a boat-neck collar, someone told me yesterday it was a bit Jackie Onassis. That's the nearest I've got to floaty. A new sartorial challenge!

Workmen's finish times, argh! I remember when we had our kitchen done, they said two weeks and it was the entire summer. Nightmare.

Something really lovely just happened. We had a young man with autism recently join the church and ask to be baptised. He's completely lovely and has thrown himself into all sorts of things we do. This evening I met his mum, who told me that he's going back to college. Apparently he'd dropped out because it was so socially difficult for him, but because he's so happy and involved and integrated in our church community it's given him the confidence to go back and to do an access to HE course. How wonderful is that! Praise God!

WiggyPig · 06/07/2018 20:16

I love the sound of a warty dress! Grin

I'm good thanks Dutch - just been incredibly busy, especially now that I've agreed to join the PCC...

Niminy that's lovely news!

Lovemedo345 · 06/07/2018 20:30

Hello can I join? I am Christian but have drifted away somewhat with busyness of life and now it's impacting my faith. Notquitegrownup, my DH is not a believer either and we also have 2 boys, although younger, 3 and 6. Do you have ant advice or wisdom for me? When I do attend church o go to a wonderful big vibrant place but can feel lonely with all the whole families there. Thank you xx

FloralBunting · 06/07/2018 20:39

I. Am. Melting.

That is all.

Madhairday · 06/07/2018 22:32

Phew!😎♨️

FloralBunting · 06/07/2018 22:45

I actually managed to have my first Solero of the summer today. Twas bliss.

CishAndFips · 07/07/2018 08:31

Nimny that's wonderful. I'm helping at our churches family fun day today. I'm hoping we get a good turn out despite the football and my 2 DC are not too wild.

Madhairday · 07/07/2018 08:41

Hope it goes well, Cish!

Our church is having a men's day today so hope it goes well, they've decided to end earlier, funnily enough, due to a certain sporting fixture this afternoon... (I think in reality they might all decamp to the pub, as the last event before finish is beer tasting Grin)

DragonNoodleCake · 07/07/2018 18:03

Hello @Lovemedo345 😀

Just back from holiday and ready to crash!

Orchidflower1 · 08/07/2018 18:05

Hope everyone is not too hot. Praying you all cope in the hot weather. My dc have a school trip on Thursday and praying it is not as hot by then.

Praying for thanks too as I see that so far four of the boys trapped in the Thai cave have been rescued. Praying for continued strength for their rescuers and their waiting families - those of rescuers and the boys.

🍦and thoughts for all.
