Christian prayer thread for winter

Madhairday · 12/11/2017 17:18

Hello all! I just posted a long post on the old thread and realised it's full up, so just going to copy this here to sunshine - will try and do a roundup of other prayers too later. Everyone welcome here!

Just want to reiterate what Oma and Cocoa have said so well, sunshine. It's no wonder church feels like a hostile place and you freeze up. I feel so sad for you that that man did this to you. But Christ isn't the church , the church is supposed to be his body, reaching out hands of love and help and compassion, and sometimes they mess that up. Hugely. Sometimes evil crawls in. But that doesn't mean God's abandoned you. I love that Oma referred to the prodigal son, I was looking at Rembrandt's study of that parable the other day and so struck afresh by the father's absolute joy in his son being home, his grace in embracing him whatever he'd done. Sadly you've had a poor excuse for a father so it must be so difficult to frame God in the language of father for you Flowers but God is the father who loves you beyond your imaginings, who reaches out arms of compassion and forgiveness, who gathers you in and just loves you. Loves you so much, so, so much, without end. You can never do anything that will make God abandon you. Jesus said that he is with us always, even to the end of the age.

I know church is threatening, lovely, but there are a lot of people who would love to help, here on the internet and in real life. It's just a case of reaching out, but I know that must seem impossible right now. I've learned that God is a God of restoration, a God who longs to mend the broken places and devastations in people's lives. I've seen people set free from so much and believe with everything I am that God longs to set you free, too.

I'd love you to find some medical support. I'm so sorry your GP is so rubbish. More and more the case, sadly. I pray you can get in to see someone. Would you also consider some counselling? Like cocoa says, that doesn't mean they would take your DC away, just that they would want to support and help you. Flowers you sound a lovely mum and have done so well to get to this point. I'm glad you are reaching out here. Please take care and know God's love pouring over you by the Holy Spirit. Flowers

Could I ask for prayers for one of my DDs who has been the victim of a stalker and is in a personal limbo right now, hoping for good news that will enable her to get on with her life after feeling she had no choice but to leave the avenue she was on because of the stalking (police and authorities no help, and she is dealing with a lot of trauma and anger over that too).

Love to all.

BlackeyedSusan · 14/05/2018 13:16

Please pray for our dodgy internet cables connection D's has been screaming due to the loss of service.

Madhairday · 15/05/2018 23:52

Math that sounds horrible and so stressful for all of you. Prayers for DD and for you.

Prayers for you and internet issues, BES. How are things?

Sorry for patchy attendance on the thread. Been very ill again, on the way up now.

I am sad that people are having a miserable time. Life is stressful with exams in our house but all going well so far and DD has an exam free day today so I will offer my prayers for you all - pray for health, happiness, calm households and a feeling of personal contentment for all.
Thank you for your prayers too.

daffodildelight · 16/05/2018 15:05

Hi everyone, hope all is well. I pop on here occasionally, most recently about my kids getting confirmed.
I just wanted to let you know about a page I have found on Facebook called Kissing Fish. It's really great, sometimes thought provoking and sometimes uplifting.

www.facebook.com/KissingFishBook/

Worth having a look.

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/05/2018 07:52

DD very very nervous for Chemistry today as it is one of her A level choices - I am praying she will stay calm, remember all she knows and apply it if there are tricky questions. She starts at 8.30 so please keep her in your prayers if anyone sees this request.

Lisette40 · 17/05/2018 14:28

Just passing through but now praying for internet connections, personal safety, exams, MHD's lungs. May God's love shine in all of you.

Did making his Communion soon. Big moment. All well here. I think and pray for you all especially those lurking.

Lisette40 · 17/05/2018 14:29

Juggling hope it was a good Chemistry paper. And that your dd is almost finished her exams.

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/05/2018 17:31

Thank you Lisette - she was mainly happy I think.
Sadly not even close to finished - 6 down - 18 to go. We have one more month of tension.
Thank you for your prayers. I never realised that it would be harder to be watching someone do their exams than do them yourself.
Prayers for all.

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/05/2018 17:37

19 to go - not 18 she says !!

Lisette40 · 17/05/2018 17:55

Pass on my best wishes. Yes, it's the lack of control because you can't do anything. All you can do is wait. Hope the rest go well.

Madhairday · 17/05/2018 23:33

Oh Juggling, I do feel for you. I remember so well the all consuming stress of last year. DDS mock A Levels which she's doing this week are so stress free in comparison! Mind you, she is fairly grumpy... Praying for the rest of your dds exams. May she know peace and calm and be able to recall all she needs to. Flowers

How's internet stuff today BES?

Hello Lisette! That's exciting news re communion, praying it's a special time. Thanks for praying for me.

Still struggling, got called back to doctors today as my x-ray showed acute infection still. Carrying on on oral antibiotics and praying I won't need IVs anytime soon. I think I'm getting better though.

Just finishing final rewrites on the book, then it's all handed over to the publishers finally! Yay!

BlackeyedSusan · 18/05/2018 07:32

are there any exams today?

Madhairday · 18/05/2018 07:49

DD has mock a level psychology today. She's a bit stressy but they'll be over after this - she's worried her biology didn't go well yesterday and she needs it for UCAS application.

Juggling hope your DD is doing okay.

Thanks she is coping well (very well most of the time but we are very close and I see the terror in her eyes from time to time).
French writing starting in 21 minutes - one of her less favoured subjects but she would love a 7 over all and this is her second strongest paper of four so needs an 8 on this one.
May she know peace and calm and be able to recall all she needs to - a lovely prayer.
Thank you all for your support and prayers for you all and your DC.

Lisette40 · 18/05/2018 08:32

I'm trying to learn French at the moment. Was my worst language at school because I'm hard of hearing and it's so whispery in places so I'm trying to master it now when there's less pressure - unfinished business if you like.

I'll be praying that gallic inspiration hits this morning for Juggling's dd.

Well done on the manuscript MHD , hope oral meds do the trick.

Hope the broadband is better Bes

BlackeyedSusan · 18/05/2018 17:41

hope the exams went well. and will go well.

dcs are going away tonight with their dad to a relative. pray for safe journey, recovery for me and for me to get all the jobs done that need to be done.

Prayers for you BES. Are you in London by any chance - don't say if you don't feel comfortable doing so.

Madhairday · 21/05/2018 07:21

That's beautiful Lisette. Thank you.

Prayers for a new week for all of us. May you know the blessing of God and the filling of the Holy Spirit, strengthening and energising you, setting you free and holding you tight.

That’s beautiful Lisette.

JugglingMummyof2 · 21/05/2018 20:15

A big week ahead for DD - 6 exams in 4 days.
I have adopted your lovely prayer Madhairday : May she know peace and calm and be able to recall all she needs to.
It is exactly what I want for her but I wasn't able to put it into words of my own.
Please do keep her in your prayers.
Thank you all.

BlackeyedSusan · 22/05/2018 07:08

prang in car yesterday. I really do not need all the extra faff this is going to cause.
