Christian prayer thread for winter

Hello all! I just posted a long post on the old thread and realised it's full up, so just going to copy this here to sunshine - will try and do a roundup of other prayers too later. Everyone welcome here!

Just want to reiterate what Oma and Cocoa have said so well, sunshine. It's no wonder church feels like a hostile place and you freeze up. I feel so sad for you that that man did this to you. But Christ isn't the church , the church is supposed to be his body, reaching out hands of love and help and compassion, and sometimes they mess that up. Hugely. Sometimes evil crawls in. But that doesn't mean God's abandoned you. I love that Oma referred to the prodigal son, I was looking at Rembrandt's study of that parable the other day and so struck afresh by the father's absolute joy in his son being home, his grace in embracing him whatever he'd done. Sadly you've had a poor excuse for a father so it must be so difficult to frame God in the language of father for you Flowers but God is the father who loves you beyond your imaginings, who reaches out arms of compassion and forgiveness, who gathers you in and just loves you. Loves you so much, so, so much, without end. You can never do anything that will make God abandon you. Jesus said that he is with us always, even to the end of the age.

I know church is threatening, lovely, but there are a lot of people who would love to help, here on the internet and in real life. It's just a case of reaching out, but I know that must seem impossible right now. I've learned that God is a God of restoration, a God who longs to mend the broken places and devastations in people's lives. I've seen people set free from so much and believe with everything I am that God longs to set you free, too.

I'd love you to find some medical support. I'm so sorry your GP is so rubbish. More and more the case, sadly. I pray you can get in to see someone. Would you also consider some counselling? Like cocoa says, that doesn't mean they would take your DC away, just that they would want to support and help you. Flowers you sound a lovely mum and have done so well to get to this point. I'm glad you are reaching out here. Please take care and know God's love pouring over you by the Holy Spirit. Flowers

Oh no BES - not what you need :( are you ok? Flowers

Prayers for your DD, Juggling.

How is Oma? Hope you are ok Flowers

Finally handed off the completed manuscript yesterday. I won't know what to do with myself! It is a lovely feeling though. My editor is taking it to a sales conference today though, so prayers for that would be much appreciated, that it gets to the right outlets and places. Very nervous!

We were so nearly there last year in Birmingham. Until I messed it up somehow. I think all Saturdays in June are still free for me - but it is nearly June.

Everybody send me a pm on here or on FB if you like the idea of a meet-up

Madhairday · 22/05/2018 17:08

I can do the 9th or the 30th

depending on health, of course!

I'll post in the fb group

PositiveAttitude · 23/05/2018 13:52

Hi everyone. Can I came back and join you lot? I have not been around a lot recently and fell off the prayer thread many months ago, but I would love to come back if you will have me. I can't promise to be a frequent poster, but would love to pop in now and then when I am on MN. I will have a little scroll through and see if there are many of the "oldies" around that I recognise......

Dutchoma · 23/05/2018 14:25

What do you mean: “if you will have me”? Nobody stops loving on this thread, whether we see you or not.

PositiveAttitude · 23/05/2018 15:06

Madhairday · 23/05/2018 15:12

Hi MHD All is very good with me. All DCs are doing well and are happy. DGS1 is now 4 and a delight. DGS2 is now 20 months old - adjusted to be 17months, but with having such a tough start with life he is developmentally delayed, but doing far more than the Drs said he would ever be able to do. He is sitting up himself and really is the happiest baby I have ever seen. He is always smiling and content and is totally adorable. Our charity is going very well and DH travels to Cambodia a few times a year - next visit is in August for a month. I have now completed my accountancy course and have more than enough work!!
We are having our house "done up" with the plan to put it on the market. It has been ongoing since last July and has seriously pushed my patience, but we are on the home run finally, Just the last rooms to have flooring put down. He is doing the kitchen at the moment, which is a total pain, but shouldn't take too long!!

BlackeyedSusan · 24/05/2018 07:32

Dutchoma · 27/05/2018 07:40

Water damage? I vaguely heard the thunderstorm, but mainly slept through it

BlackeyedSusan · 27/05/2018 08:36

Sorry about the random h. The phone was having a go slow last night. And this morning it would seem.

EddSimcox · 27/05/2018 15:55

I'm ok PA, a bit overwhelmed with being pulled in too many directions, work, DC, parents, church... I made the mistake of applying for a big job which I don't have time for, had to go to NYC (hardship I know!) for the final interview and in the same week I saw my vocations adviser, my sister-out-law died - very young, young son, very tragic - and DXP had to go to abroad, three colleagues are off sick, I have an essay to write, and to cap it all I broke my finger two days ago!

How are all your family?

goshhelp · 27/05/2018 15:58

Hello. Lapsed Christian here. Going through a divorce and I have awoken to the fact I still love him. He has moved on with somebody. The divorce will be done in a matter of weeks. I want my husband back and my family healed. May I ask for prayers for what looks impossible?

applesandpears33 · 27/05/2018 20:40

Hi goshhelp. Praying for you and your family.

PA - I think I've been through a couple of name changes since you were here. Great to hear your news and I can't believe how big the DGC are getting. Doesn't time fly?
