Christian prayer thread for winter

Hello all! I just posted a long post on the old thread and realised it's full up, so just going to copy this here to sunshine - will try and do a roundup of other prayers too later. Everyone welcome here!

Just want to reiterate what Oma and Cocoa have said so well, sunshine. It's no wonder church feels like a hostile place and you freeze up. I feel so sad for you that that man did this to you. But Christ isn't the church , the church is supposed to be his body, reaching out hands of love and help and compassion, and sometimes they mess that up. Hugely. Sometimes evil crawls in. But that doesn't mean God's abandoned you. I love that Oma referred to the prodigal son, I was looking at Rembrandt's study of that parable the other day and so struck afresh by the father's absolute joy in his son being home, his grace in embracing him whatever he'd done. Sadly you've had a poor excuse for a father so it must be so difficult to frame God in the language of father for you Flowers but God is the father who loves you beyond your imaginings, who reaches out arms of compassion and forgiveness, who gathers you in and just loves you. Loves you so much, so, so much, without end. You can never do anything that will make God abandon you. Jesus said that he is with us always, even to the end of the age.

I know church is threatening, lovely, but there are a lot of people who would love to help, here on the internet and in real life. It's just a case of reaching out, but I know that must seem impossible right now. I've learned that God is a God of restoration, a God who longs to mend the broken places and devastations in people's lives. I've seen people set free from so much and believe with everything I am that God longs to set you free, too.

I'd love you to find some medical support. I'm so sorry your GP is so rubbish. More and more the case, sadly. I pray you can get in to see someone. Would you also consider some counselling? Like cocoa says, that doesn't mean they would take your DC away, just that they would want to support and help you. Flowers you sound a lovely mum and have done so well to get to this point. I'm glad you are reaching out here. Please take care and know God's love pouring over you by the Holy Spirit. Flowers

Dutchoma · 30/04/2018 06:56

How did it go BES. Been thinking about you.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/05/2018 07:09

bit like the curates egg. good in parts.

JugglingMummyof2 · 02/05/2018 09:47

Thinking of you all - DD1 is currently in her French oral and I feel slightly sick. Just praying she feels calm snd in control and understands all the questions and is able to answer them well.
BlackeyedSusan - I am sorry life is so hard at the moment - a special prayer for you and your son.

Madhairday · 02/05/2018 10:20

Prayers, Juggling. DD did her GCSEs last year and the stress is still fresh iny mind! It's so hard for them, esp with the new curriculum. Hope she gets on well in her French.

How are things, BES? Oma?

Not too well again, so struggling here. Pleurisy pain.

Thank you Madhairday - she was happy with it and I am glad as it is her least favourite exam in her least favourite subject. She stayed calm which is always my first and most fervent prayer.
It seems like only the other day I was holding her little coconut head in my hand - very sparse hair for the first year of life - and now she is battling late running trains, suspended tubes and an oral exam before 10am.

Lisette40 · 04/05/2018 14:05

Just praying for everyone on this thread and their families.

Lisette40 · 04/05/2018 14:06

Love the image of little coconut head. I remember the days well.Smile

BlackeyedSusan · 06/05/2018 22:33

thank you juggling.

I am dreading when dd takes french oral, as she has processing speed issues in English, never mind french. I hope a diagnosis will come through by the time she is ready to take exams.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/05/2018 22:34

how did it go?

good lcuk with the rest of the exams too. poor love is a bit of a guinea pig doing the first full set of 1-9 exams.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/05/2018 15:06

going to collect ds. it could be tricky.

JugglingMummyof2 · 10/05/2018 16:48

I am praying for you BlackeyedSusan.

Dutchoma · 10/05/2018 16:55

Have you got him home BES?

BlackeyedSusan · 10/05/2018 18:02

yes. home. grumpy but without too much incident. we have been to his dadshouse for a bit while waiting for dd. (got a key)

JugglingMummyof2 · 13/05/2018 14:50

GCSEs start tomorrow for DD with RS Islam in the afternoon - so many quotes to remember. I pray she stays calm so she can remember everything and works logically through the questions.
I'm feeling very nervous as the grade boundaries are so high - 96% for a 9 and 93% for an 8. As long as she is happy with her efforts I will be happy too. I would really appreciate your prayers for her over the next 5 weeks.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/05/2018 16:19

Prayers juggling.

DS has decided to walk home. From the edge of the city to the middle. Please pray for ex who is getting an enforced walk. I am passing biscuits and drinks to ex from the car as we drive and park in case Ds will consent to a lift.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/05/2018 18:18

they made it back ok. walked all the way.

they are now at dads while I do some washing of uniform for tomorrow. I will head over there once the washing is finished. I have scrubbed it before it goes inthe machine as it is covered in sun cream which does not come out with washing liquid but does come out if soaked with soap for an hour or so.

JugglingMummyof2 · 13/05/2018 18:34

Thanks BES - it sounds exhausting and I really appreciate you taking the time to offer a prayer for us when you have so much to manage in your own life.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/05/2018 19:48

i am flabbergasted at the grade boundaries to be fair.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/05/2018 19:50

those definitely require prayer.

thought dd might be able to go for 8s and 9s, (cos she is quite clever like) but goodness gracious, quickly adjusting expectations. better now than later though.

lovemyboys25 · 13/05/2018 20:04

Hello just found this can I join in?

Prayers needed for my DH with bad mental heath which is currently knocking us for 6. Praying meds kick in soon & also for other methods of help

daffodildelight · 13/05/2018 22:02

Praying for all the children taking SATS tomorrow and for their teachers.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/05/2018 23:22

25 boys (25! 1 is enough!)

deliberate misunderstanding of posters name

I have just committed the crisis team phone number to memory, and installed in phone and diaries, so I shall join you in praying the meds will work. I am going to try the Gp again tomorrow, along with an appointment with the HT. Cradling his head to prevent self harm.

prayers would be appreciated.

constant bad mood(for two weeks) , run off walking two miles home, risky behaviour (walked straight out into road) and self harm.he can't sleep very well, I have been upstairs with him in bed, and he has regressed and needed help with self care. there is a lot of shouting and statements about school. he has chucked stuff into his dad's neighbours garden and has threatened to break a lot of stuff as well.

If he kicks off tomorrow, I think i will try the crisis team as they may have more of a clue about what to do and it may be the only way to get him support.

lovemyboys25 · 14/05/2018 03:30

Can't sleep so sending up prayers for you all x
