our vicar went to find turn to the last page of her sermon/talk at our Agape Service/Meal on Maundy Thursday only to discover she didn't have it - so had to ad lib - was brilliant albeit a bit longer than she intended LOL.

And yes I'll spend it wisely...definite buys are a new cot mattress (DS1 managed to leave it in lovely condition for DS2 - while DS2 has completely trashed it LOL), pram (got my eye on the Hauck - but could change my mind after a bit of browsing) and I suppose a few packs of babygro's and vest may be a good idea.

We would have managed without the grant - but having it makes life so much easier - we can put the 'extra' money from our normal income towards thing such as the car tax and other such exciting stuff LOL.

CaptainDippy · 13/04/2007 11:43

Great stuff!

my day just keeps getting better - MW has just been, BP fine, Urine fine, heartbeat heard and HEAD DOWN - not engaged at all - but at least he's discovered head down position.

MaryBS · 13/04/2007 12:20

Fantastic! So glad to hear that FA!

CD - he wouldn't want to see MY efforts at a sermon then!

Notquitegrownup · 13/04/2007 12:45

Agh Mary! You've got to be there!

Was there anyone who couldn't make 14th?

MaryBS · 13/04/2007 15:58

If I can I will, but I have to go to the baptism if that's when they book it for... I HAVE told them I'm busy on that day...

Eeek! I just went down the church to practise my sermon. Unlocked it at went in as normal. I was in full flow when these 2 ladies walked in. They said "Oh, are you practising your sermon? We'd love to hear it!"

So I gave them my sermon, without a mike as well. They said it was REALLY good, and that I delivered it very well. We then had a chat about my training, and about our church!

What it DOES show is how much my confidence is growing! Praise God!

MaryBS · 13/04/2007 16:28

Nope, can't make the 7th - they've booked the baptisms for that date , it was the only date available where both church, priest and hall were free...

Notquitegrownup · 13/04/2007 17:36

Aw noooo. OK all, check your diaries for the 14th July and I'll see if the hall is free.

harrisey · 13/04/2007 19:11

I need your prayers ladies.
I just found out that my Gran is dying. She's 84, her kidneys have failed, she has internal bleeding and wont last more than a few days. I'm going to see her tomorrow. She's been losing her memory adn had heart failure for several years but this has come on quite suddenly.
Its kind of complicated because I am estranged from my mother, whose Mum she is, and lived with till recently. I have to go and see her when Mum isnt there which basically means tomorrow morning. I havent seen Gran as much as I would have liked to in recent years as I have had to do it when she was in respite care, but she's always been so cheerful, and she is one big constant in my life. ANd now she's going.
My Gran is a Christian and I know heaven is a far better place for her. Its just that earth will seem a little bit of a poorer place for us all without her.

CaptainDippy · 13/04/2007 19:29

Harrisey hon - I am so sorry, that is terribly I am praying for you and your family. [[[[hugs]] Praying you have special times with her before she dies. xxxx

Evening all, not been around for a few days have been to Yorkshire to friendsand had a really good couple of days.

h is here atm to look after children as i'm in work tomorrow, so far it's been civilised and ok apart from the odd dig.

Tomorrow is day 10 after ds first chicken pox appeared so if dd's are going to appear it shoud be over next few days.

Lovely lady from church rang me this eve to see if I was ok, that hasn't happened too often so i'm really grateful to her.

harrisey sorry to hear about your nan, its can't easy when you try and juggle missing people you don't want to see.

14th july is day before dd's 15th birthday so i would guess we would be out for that w/e unless i could sell it as a w/e away. Don't think she woudl be impressed at a day with people she doesn't know though and is always telling me off for meeting people off the internet, and how you could all be big hairy truckers lol

roseylea · 14/04/2007 08:59

Good morning!

FA great to hear that you've been given the SureStart grant and that your bubs is doing well! (BTW the SureStart grant....do many people know about it? We didn't when I was pg with dd and dh was unemployed at that time so we might well have qualified...oh well!)

Hi LWTG. I'm glad you had a good week away. A weekend away for your dd's birthday could be very nice - you could go into Oxford the next day...sell it to her!

CCM I have been praying about your feelings about weight. I understand because it's something I struggle with - what with having Crohns my weight goes up and down like a yoyo and at the moment it's up and my jeans are getting tight! It does affect my self-esteem...I know it shouldn't but we live in such an image-obsessed culture that it's hard not to be affected by that.

I am struggling physically too - I'm down to 1 mg pred (wow!) but I am not doing brilliantly tbh. My plan is to go on to the enteral (?) drinks next week to try and get better....please Lord!

CD you had us all going there! When you do go into labour please get your dh to post a v. quick message here so that we can all pray for you when you are actually in labour. When I had both the dcs I had a prayer group all praying during the labours and it made such an amazing difference. For ds I also had a fantastic God-sent African Pentecostal midwife (at the start of the induction I asked her to pray and boy did she pray! She was an amazingly gifted intercessor) Anyway! I am prying for your dh's sermon tomorow - what a gift, to be able to prepare it all so quickly! I am praying that God gives your dh 'radical authority' even as he speaks about it!

Hi Mary! I think that was lovely, that you got to share your sermon with the two ladies in your church!

Harrisey so sorry to hear about your granny. I do hope and pray that your time with her today is everything you need it to be.

Hi NQGU! I am pretty sure I could do the 14th - need to just check with dh tho. It might well be only me and the dcs as dh's work hours will be changing for a while at that time (I won't bore you with the details!)

Hi M2G&A, hope things are better with you now. The peace of the Lord be always with you...

Well I am off to London today to meet a friend whom I've not seen for 5 years - she used to be a prayer buddy of mine until she moved away and the last time she was me dd (who is now 4.5) was in my womb! So we've got a lot of catching up to do. I am slightly worried because my stomach is not that great today and I'm worried about having a really busy day that is going to make it worse. Please could you pray that God watches over me and brings healing? Thank you!

CaptainDippy · 14/04/2007 09:05

LWTG - Soooooo pleased you are sounding soooo much more & positive - makes my heart skip with joy - Glad you had a lovely time away sweetie!! LOL @ "Big Hairy Truckers!!" - HOW DID YOU KNOW!!!!? Keep going .......

Rosey - Will definitely get someone (probably text Mary) to post when I do actually go into labour - Would be absolutely fantastic to have you guys pray me through it - esp as I have had two rather unpleasant experiences so far - I would like this to be a lot more straight-forward etc this time round ...... Have a wonderful time with your friend - Praying hard for healing - You have come so far sweetie - Keep going ......

Got to go and have shower, working this morning .......

CaptainCaveman · 14/04/2007 18:20

Good evening everyone, what another fantastic day! Praise God.

Been on the go all day and we're out tonight too, phew, will be whacked tomorrow. Just been tortured with a McDonalds party for 2 hours - one of ds' friends - so now looking forwards to being in the pub!!

Thanks Rosey, praying for you too. I never weigh myself but judge on how loose/tight my clothes feel. Currently feeling like a 30 stone heifer squeezed into size 10 jeans.

CaptainDippy · 14/04/2007 19:03

Xavielli - Sooooooooo good to "see" you here hon - Glad all is going ok - give us more info about what you have been up to etc etc - Happy birthday Eliana!! - Praying the Party goes smoothly and lots of fun is had by all !

Hi Fellow Captain - Glad you've had a good day - enjoy the pub!!

It's been a busy one in DipsVille - working followed by swimming with the girls .... exhausted.....

Need to go as DH needs to write his sermon ......

Evening everyone - just a very quick post to thank everyone for their prayers for me. I managed to get through the day in a fairly relaxed way and the last guests left about 1/2 hour having arrived at lunch time.
The bouncy castle was a big hit (big being the operative word as it was 60ft long!!).
H bought DS2 a trampoline (or frampoline as he calls it) for his birthday so that was well used today also.
The bbq came out for the first time this year so we all had cremated sausages for tea.
The boys had to have a bath because they were absolutley filthy but having been on the go since 8.30am (when the bouncy castle first arrived) they fell asleep within minutes of putting their pjs on!!
The dummy fairy took DS2's dummies on his birthday (Thursday) and it has been a pretty smooth ride so far.
I am feeling pretty exhausted now so am looking forward to sitting down with a hot cup of tea (kept getting distracted with one thing or another today and ending up with luke warm tea!!)

Prayers to everyone and I will try and post a less "me, me, me" post tomorrow!!

God Bless everyone
xxxxx

MaryBS · 15/04/2007 07:20

MTGAA - so pleased you had a wonderful day yesterday! That's a big bouncy castle!

CD, did MrCD get his sermon written in the end? Nothing like a deadline to get you motivated! Hope you got some rest last night!

RL - hope your stomach held out and you got to enjoy your day with your friend! I bet you had a lot of catching up to do!

Harrisey, praying for you and your nan. Its good she's a Christian, and I know you will take comfort in that. Our sadness comes from our loss, rather than rejoicing in the perfect love it will soon be hers to experience firsthand. My thoughts and prayers are with you {hug}

Hi Xavielli - good to see you, give us an update on how you are when you get chance!

And you don't have to change the date of the meet-up just because I can't make it! Especially if it will mean that others can't make the following week! If I'm not there in person, I can be there in spirit!

God bless all on this wonderful Sunday morning! xxx

harrisey · 15/04/2007 13:19

We went to see gran yesterday. She was very weak, couldnt even open her eyes, but did wiggle her eyebrows a lot as I was talking. I spent about half an hour talking to her and just sitting with her. It was one of the hardest things I've veer done, to walk out the door.

She died at 3am today. I'm so glad we went yesterday. Its a funny mix, between being devastated that she is gone, and happy that she is in heaven.

sleepysooz · 15/04/2007 13:22

Oh Harrisey, I'm so sorry pleased you got to sit with her, like you say its such mixed feelings!

CaptainDippy · 15/04/2007 14:22

So she is gone Harrisey - but fab stuff that she is in Heaven, eh!!? So glad you got to be with her and talk to her etc- You can treasure those precious times now. [hugs] When is the funeral?

Yes, MrCD's talk went swimmingly - lots of praise from people etc - God did His stuff! He started talk at 9.30 last night and came to bed 12am - NO IDEA how he does it!!!!!!!?

How old is your DS that had a visit from the "Dummy Fairy" MTGAA?? Both of mine still have them and are a bit obssessive about them tbh - Would VERY much like to hirey our Dummy Fairy!! glad Party went so well - great stuff! Enjoy the frampoline!!

Off to dig in garden and clean car ....
