Hi Guys - I have just got in having had a lovely day shopping and visiting various people, to find a letter from Essex Police saying that I have been caught by a speed camera doing 41 in a 30 zone.
I now feel realy sick and it has put a real downer on my day.
Not really sure what I expect people to say but just thought that putting this down in words may help me to stop dwelling on it.
I am trying to tell myself that one speeding fine in 15 years of driving isn't too bad and I didn't have the kids in the car at the time but its not making me feel much better.
I just feel really, really guilty and sick about the whole thing.
Well - I don't feel any better for putting it down in words so its over to you guys if you can offer any words of comfort.
God Bless

harrisey · 19/04/2007 19:08

Oh MTGAA thats awful
I have points on my licence becasue of driving without insurance and it makes me sick when I look at it and see that written down (in desperation I drove though I havent passed my test with noone in the car which is why I wasnt insured - I was very lucky to have other charges of driving without a licence dropped!!!)
I know how it feels, its horrible when you get into trouble. But at least you hadnt put the kids at risk - I still feel like I put everyone on the road at risk adn betrayed my dh into the bargain as he didnt know I had taken the car!!!

Dont beat yourself up - pay the fine, take the points and just be careful in the future!!! But rest assured I know how you feel.

Notquitegrownup · 19/04/2007 19:18

Awww MTGAA I got one too a couple of years ago after about 15 years of clear driving.

In the end, though, I felt quite glad I had got it. I'm not a fast driver, but it has made me much more aware that there are times when I let the speed creep up a bit, and I have been even more careful since.

Bear in mind too, (is that the right spelling of bear??!) that there are a lot more cameras around now. Lots more of us are going to find ourselves caught out on the occasional slip up. In fact, we could even be caught more than once on the same day!! Now wouldn't that be awful?!

Notquitegrownup · 19/04/2007 19:20

Oh, and hello to everyone else.

mumtogusnalbie · 19/04/2007 19:46

Thanks Harrissey and NQGU - I am feeling a bit better now having done the normal tea, bath, story and bed routine with the boys.

The most annoying thing is, the camera that caught me was me one of the oldest ones in Colchester, it isn't hiding and I am very aware of it as it is right near my Mum and Dads. My Dad was caught twice in one week by it so I am normally soooooo careful.

Anyway - i can't turn back the clock so I will try not to dwell on it. I have filled the form in and will be putting it in the post tomorrow - I wait to hear about the fine and points in the not too distant future I guess.

I am now going to read the thread for today because I haven't done so yet and will probably be back later!

Thanks for being 'there' everyone.

God Bless

sleepysooz · 19/04/2007 23:23

Oh MTGAA - you poor thing, I hope you have now relaxed a bit, you didn't cause an accident, no-one is hurt, my karate instructor would say 'Character building' pray tomorrow goes better for you!

CC - thanks for that, I may do a dummy run to St.Pauls and hope to see you soon, (if hairy bikers are let in) I'm a sit at the back in a corner shy type of person, (even though I seem loud and confident, its all mouth and no trousers)! and do I have to go out if the children are whispering rather loudly?

CD - I do hope you got 'psycho child meltdown' under control by the end of the day, my 11yo is a bit of a handful, but I'm not pregnant! (theres a thought)

Well I'm off to bed, I have just got in from work, I picked my mobile bp monitor up from the doctors earlier, to do home readings for the next 3 weeks, so I pray for healthier blood pressure, calm down! calm down!

harrisey · 19/04/2007 23:27

Hello - All my babies (inc DH and Bump) are still sleeping, but I feel like trash so I am up and wandering round like a Zombie - Don't feel like I can face today .... Bleurgh!

Glad your meeting went well Fellow Captain and you are feeling positive about the assignment etc

mtgaa - I am glad you are feeling better and reassured love - You made a mistake, don't dwell on it - We've all driven a little recklessly, that behaviour isn't exclusive to you, trust me. It is ok to make a mistake - like someone said (NQGU?) - Just allow this mistake to make you a better, more careful driver in future, pay the fine and don't worry! [hugs]

Praying for that BP to drop Sooz - Hope you and your Tiger's enjoy CC's church!

Noise coming from girl's room, so best go .... Please pray for strength to get through today! Thank you!

oops

CaptainCaveman · 20/04/2007 08:52

Prayers for you CD, hope you're feeling brighter very soon.

Sooz, you probably won't hear you lo's 'whispering' above the noise of my ds shouting his 'abc song' whilst anyone is trying to talk
They tend to kick us out to sunday school before the sermon, but whilst in church don't worry about noise - there is plenty of competition for who can shout the loudest!!
There's quite a big space at the back of the church with benches and a couple of tables, plus a big bit of floor space to play in - WARNING the toy box contains a piano/xylophone, I normally hide it from ds

How is everyone today? I'm off to the gp for a huge lump on my knee....not sure what it is, just started hurting about a week ago and has got bigger over the last 2 days!

Notquitegrownup · 20/04/2007 09:42

Good morning all. Prayers for you to get through today CD. Take those girls off to the beach and collapse on a blanket, whilst they dig.

Prayers for you all. Have a lovely time in Torquay, Mufti. Enjoy the wedding, Harrisey. Hope church is fun, SS! Give CC a hug from us all - but mind that knee!!

NSFN - praying for your dh and his operation today.

God bless all.

CaptainDippy · 20/04/2007 10:40

Praying about the lump on your knee CC - Do report back when you have been to the Drs' I have got this HUGE lump on my tummy atm - and NOTHING seems to be able to shift it!!!!

Feeling a bit brighter now DD1 is at Pre-School and DD2 is sleeping - still feeling all silly and emotional though - PG hormones running riot, me thinks ..... what a great big silly I am, as DD1 would say!

Ooooh, mufti, enjoy your trip away - sounds lovely - are you going with anyone apart from your lovely boy?? Hope the packing goes well - military op with little one in tow - esp when s/c!!

Too cold for the beach today NQGU!! Happily, G'ma taking DD1 this PM and DD2 going out with friend - so looking forward to a bit of peace .... (Hopefully!) Feeling guilty I am "getting rid of my girls" for a few hrs though - Silly, I know, but I do ......

Have friend, her 3 children and French student coming for tea today .... DH invited them ..... feeling stressed ..... again, silly, I know .....

OP posts:
PandaG · 20/04/2007 12:32

MOrning all

Praying for your stress CD. Don't feel guilty about getting rid o fthe girls, they will have a lovely time with G'ma and friends. Praying that tea is not too stressful for you, and that all the DC get on well. Hugs honey.

Well, I have just booked my 2 into swimming lessons, starting tomorrow morning! DS will not be impressed, he does not like the water, but he needs to learn!

LOve to allxx

sleepysooz · 20/04/2007 14:13

CC - praying all goes well with your lumpy knee (sorry didn't mean to come out that way!

CD - enjoy and relax on your time out this afternoon, although I suppose you will be organising tea for friends, will DH be around to help?

Rosey - hope you didn't come down to earth with a bump! after your brill news,- pray your application for training for the ministry goes according to plan, well done you!

Mufti - have a brill weekend, and prayers for a loo in time for your return, or else potties work quite well!

PandaG - Fantastic getting lo's in for swimming lessons, hope they enjoy it!

Everybody else have a lovely weekend, we have a church event tomorrow on the local field, gospel singing, bouncy castle, suppose we'll get the odd light sermon type of thing, lots of other church orientated things to do, hope the weather stays bright!

mufti · 20/04/2007 14:59

well the loo etc arrived and it's all in the conservatory.
just dh , ds and i going away, should be good .
no banging, drilling, builders or dust for a few days, mind you there was dust before they started but thats another story.

MaryBS · 20/04/2007 20:44

Do you remember I asked for prayers for Judy and her daughter (aged 15) as Judy had cancer? I heard the other day that she has at most 2 months to live. Prayers are needed please, both for Judy (whose faith is incredible), and her lovely daughter, who is going to be an orphan.

Mufti - my mother always says "dust is someone's ancestors", and if you sweep it up, you are sweeping up someone's ancestor, so leave it be!

CD - how was your day today? Am waiting expectantly for news...

MTGAA, I got pulled over by the police a few months back for erratic driving! Thank God, no-one from church saw me being questioned by the police - it happened in the village where we live! . It seems more and more people are getting caught speeding nowadays - its a nice little fundraiser for the councils! They're in the process of putting in SPECS (average speed) cameras on my route to work, so I'll be taking it easy!

CCM - that's great the affirmation you needed for your assignment. Exactly the same thing happened to me when I was picking my talk for Reader selection (I posted about it on here at the time)!

Glad you liked the "God as Father" debate! If anything else crops up next week, I'll share... there weren't that many at the meeting, just us 6 (and 3 of us were leaders!). However I've been told another lady wants to come next weeks, so keep praying! Big things from little acorns grow, and all that!

Oh well, better get back to my essay...

CaptainDippy · 20/04/2007 20:45

Boo! Good evening! Well, BF and her LO's have gone and our two are fast asleep, completely knackered. Had a nice a/n, just did a bit of shopping for meeeee and had a lazy cuppa in a cafe in town, nice! Dinner was good and the 5 children didn't create too much mess and devestation, which was a surprise. All tidied up now, so time to reeeeelaaax! Hurrah!

Hoep you all have fab weekends, whatever you are doing - Hopefully I'll be having a baby!!

Praying for Judy, her daughter and family, Mary - That is so incredibly Is she your friend who was going for her third course of chemo for breast cancer yesterday or is that someone different??

OP posts:
MaryBS · 20/04/2007 20:55

No - that was another lady. That lady's cancer is under control (she was the one that was called for a scan by mistake (it should have been her sister), only 3 months after she'd had a clear scan)

Judy's cancer has spread throughout her body. Only a miracle can cure her now...

CaptainDippy · 20/04/2007 21:17

Her daughter is so young. Is she married / has a partner??
