Hi Everyone

A quick hello, cause I've been in an all day meeting in a room with noooooo oxygen at work, and have just staggered home with my brain completely scrambled.

I know just how you feel Worzella. I find it really hard being at home too. Prayers for you and for all.

God bless.

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 18:43

[[[[hugs]]]]] for Wroz and NQGU - hope you feel more soon Wroz and you feel more unscrambled NQGU! Praying fory ou both, as always ....

Worz - I have DD1 who is 3.3yrs and DD2 who is 23m ........ I am crazier than you! ......

Just going back to help DH treat the girls EVIL NITTIES!!!!!

OP posts:
MaryBS · 17/04/2007 21:55

Just to say, if anyone has been trying to email me, my email is sporadic to say the least! I'm not convinced I'm getting them all, although I get some. Some arrive hours or even days after they were sent!

CD - good luck with the nits, we are infested as well, unfortunately (RU sure you others WANT to meet up with us? )

Worzella/others, if its any comfort I HATE being at work! I know what you mean though...

Too tired to post more, but I've prepared all my material for tomorrow night's study, so at least that's done...

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 22:47

Have you heard of this Hedrin stuff Mary?? It is supposed to be v.good for killing the little blighters - we're going to try one more time with stuff we've already got (Lyclear) and then nuke 'em with Hedrin - Apparentely it "envelopes the nits and then suffocates then, rendering them incapable of functioning" ..... I am hope it is a nice, slow, painful death for them .......

Ahem.

Sorry. That wasn't at all "Christian" of me ......

Sweet Dreams all .....

OP posts:
MaryBS · 17/04/2007 22:53

I've used Hedrin. It seems to work. But you have to follow up with 1 application 1 week later, then I'd recommend another a week after that...

They did a "trial" of a new product, and I wish they'd re-run it, because not only was it free, they came and combed your hair for you! AND it worked! But in the absence of that, I'd use Hedrin over Lyclear...

theUrbanDryadsMum · 18/04/2007 07:03

Once you've got rid of them we were advised to do a final rinse with water with a spoonful of vinegar and two drops of lavender essential oil to keep them out.
And: iF YOU BREAK THEIR LEGS THEY CAN'T LAY EGGS so lots of brushing as well.

Love you

CaptainCaveman · 18/04/2007 07:25

Hello, not forgotten you all, up to my neck in assigment writing!
Sooz, just wanted to say, I'm in Nottingham and our church is great with kids - ds got hold of a musical triangle on sunday and was running up and down the aisle playing it (thankfully we had just stood up to sing). Then when we were about to start the next hymn, Brian (our vicar) said he hoped ds would come and join the band again with his triangle.

You would be really welcomed if you felt able to join us? Kids run all about and sunday school is in the adjancent hall so they can shout as much as they like without disrupting the service. It's St.Pauls church, Church Street, Carlton. I have posted a link somewhere on this thread!!

love and prayers to all xxxxxxxxxxxx

MaryBS · 18/04/2007 07:41

Its the Emmaus study group tonight. Please pray that I get lots of people turn up!

I told the lady with breast cancer that you were praying for her, and she was touched. Please remember her in your prayers, as she goes for her third course of chemo today.

Keep praying for that change of job for me also please. I'm not sure what I want to do, so some clear guidance on that would be good...

God bless all on this glorious sunny day!

Mary

roseylea · 18/04/2007 08:13

Hello all,

Just a quick one as I'm getting the dcs ready for school and preschool. Just to say I am on the mend, praise God! Please continue to pray that God would bring His healing. Thank you! I've got a busy day today so please pray that I will have the energy to do it all and that I don't have a relapse due to tiredness (one of the main triggers).

Also tomorrow is the day when I see the Vocations Officer and also staet the hospital chalaincy training course so please pray that God gives me physical strength for that and enables me to engage fully mentally and spiritually!

Thank you for your prayers; I so appreciate all of you!

A special [[hug] to Worzella - that is exactly how I used to feel as a SAHM, taht all the other SAHMs were out meeting for coffee and doing lovely things and not inviting me. I think partly it was because I am a very sociable person and I just missed the contact with lots of other people.I got involved with church groups that met during the day (and evening too) and instigated lots of meetups with other SAHMs but sometimes I still felt isolated. It can be tough, being at home with dcs, and a real sacrifice. Bless you!

Thinking of you as well CD with your impending arrival! Lots of blessings to you too.

Hi mary! I've mailed you and I am going to again - I want to tell you about my friend's doctorate, which is about spirituality and mission. There are some really interesting bits of research she's done and some of it made me think of your church. Anyway!

God bless all xxxx

Notquitegrownup · 18/04/2007 09:39

Good morning all.

Praying for your course tonight, Mary, for your job and for your lady at Church too.

And praying for your recovery Rosey, and for your meeting/training this week. Hope it goes really really well.

LOL at your enthusiasm for breaking their legs, UrbanDryadsMum! They are wretched little things aren't they? I suddenly remembered the section in "The Hiding Place" (Corrie Ten Boom - wonderful book if anyone hasn't read it!) in which her sister declares her willingness to be obedient in giving thanks for everything and, to Corrie's horror, gives thanks to God for the fleas infesting their room in the concentration camp! They then discover that they are able to hold prayer meetings in there as the guards won't come in because of the fleas!

Praying that God will bless you all, even via your little visitors! Keep on combing ladies!

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 10:43

Well there were less on the comb this morning, which was good - I am completely obssessing that I have got them now - poor DH - He insists I haven't, but I am obssessed - I HATE 'EM!!

Ahem.

Mary - Praying God brings lots of people to Emmaus tonight. Praying for the ;ady with breast cancer at your church, esp as she goes for her 3rd course of Chemo today ... I am glad she knows we are all remembeirng her in our prayers. Continuing to pray for your job situation honey - What is the latest??

Rosey - Praise God you seem to be recovering , praying hard against a relapse, esp with the training ahead of you tomorrow (exciting! )

Well my friend had her scan yesterday and they put her at 14 weeks (she is VERY ) - which makes her Due Date 15th Oct - All was fine with the baby and the wee pic she showed me was lovely - just incredible - Praise God!

sleepysooz · 18/04/2007 11:08

CD, CC, LWTG, HARRISEY, TUDM, NQGU, IMBACK, and anybody else I havent mentioned, Thank you all for your lovely messages of support, I must admit I am very teary again atm and feel very mardy! so have been blubbering my way through this weeks posts! Can't pin point any problem apart from DS1 11yo whom I am so besotted with but he is sooooo uncontrolable I am at my wits end with worry.

Just been to the doctors and my blood pressure is up still so they are going to give me a portable one so that I can monitor it daily, hoping for a less stressed reading! I blubbered again

CC - I definitely will make an effort to visit your child friendly church, sounds lovely! and thank you so much for inviting us, (you may live to regret it) plus I get very emotional and don't want to show myself up!

CD - It seems so strange to be waiting for the birth of your precious baby, I bet everbody aswell as myself feel part of it, so good luck!

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 11:19

Awwww, Sooz honey - lots of love and prayers to you - Hope the BP drops soon .....

OP posts:
sleepysooz · 18/04/2007 15:51

Well, the cheek!!!! JW's have just paid us a visit, asking us 'if we are happy with our lot, sitting here realaxing in our beautiful garden'? (must be blind, its a tip) and that 'do I think it ends here'? icing on the cake!!! that'll end the day off in a more thoughtful mode! (about time for a mood change)

Thanks for support CD

mufti · 18/04/2007 15:53

did you tell them, sooz, that you know where it ends, thankfully? ie that it doesn't

sleepysooz · 18/04/2007 17:36

yes I did mufti, I answered everything they threw at me, I think I satisfied their questions, even though they did accuse me of sitting relaxing on my beautiful decking thinking I'm happy with my lot, and not thinking about what happens next, they did disagree with my timing of when the world will end! END I exclaimed you mean the beginning, (I knew they meant the evil devil) but I couldn't resist to tease! (I know that wasn't very christian of me)

MaryBS · 18/04/2007 17:53

Count yourself lucky Sooz. When DH and I lived in Peterborough, we had a lodger who was Born-again, as was his girlfriend. DH and I left them to get on with it. Lodger invited them in, 3 hours later...

(and I don't want to worry you, but the following week they came round mob-handed, with 2 elders in tow!)

Praying for you and your high BP, and for your DS...

RL your friend's doctorate sounds fascinating! I'd love to hear more! Has she read Bishop John Inge's book on "Place"? She might find it interesting. He gave a talk at our church about it...

Better go, got lots to do tonight before people turn up!

mumtogusnalbie · 18/04/2007 20:01

Good evening everyone

Really tired tonight because I left the house at 7.30 this morning to take DS down to Nannies for breakfast (I had run out of milk and couldn't persuade them to have toast!) then took DS1 to school and went straight to my friends to clean her house (my little Wednesday morning job).
Got back to Nannies at 3.00pm just in time to pick DS1 up from school then had to go to ASDA and got home at about 5.15pm.
Cooked tea, put a parcel together for a Mumsnetters LO who went into hopsital today for 2 weeks, got the boys into their PJ's (no time for bath tonight) read some stories and DS1 did some reading - then put them to bed.
I have only just sat down and am about to make a cup of tea before thinking about going to bed to get an early night!

How do we do it?!!

Praying for everying, especially Worz, Roseylea, CD, MaryBS and NSF but also those not mentioned.

GOD BLESS
xxxxx

mumtogusnalbie · 18/04/2007 20:04

link to hospital thread

here is a link to the thread for a mumsnetters son going into hospital for 2 weeks. People are going to send packages to him and if anyone wants to join in then I can send the address.

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 20:10

Thanks fo the link MTGAA - I'll definitely be popping over to Tesco tomorrow to put a few little bits together for him - and praying lots too!

Put your feet up for the evening, honey - you deserve it!! I tihnk you are amazing coping on your own - not sure I could! [hugs]

DD1 is doing something she has NEVER done before ...... coming out of her room saying: "I don't want to go to bed, I want to play." Both DH and I have had a go putting her to bed now and she hasn't opened the door for a few mins, so hopefully that is it ... how odd; particularly as she's not fallen asleep at all today and has been at Pre-School this morning and running round a play park all afternoon!!

Mmmmmmm .......

I am ok - just exhausted - DD's have been hard work today. esp DD2 who seesm to get a right old bee in her bonnet about EVERY tiny little thing - getting dressed, getting undressed, eating breakfast / lunch / dinner, getting her shoes on, getting her shoes off, getting in the car seat, getting out of the car seat, having raisins, not having raisins ... you name it, she has a MAJOR meltdown about it!! .... and that is not over-exagerating. It really is quite scary!!

Anyway - I am tired, but ok .....

The way to get rid of JWs, Sleepysooz, is to offer to pray with them and to say you won't talk to them until you have prayed. They run a mile.. I really hope you will feel able to go the Cavemen's church on Sunday, we shall be away this weekend to Holland, maybe you could pray that it all goes well, dh has been quite poorly for over a year (bypass operation and never fully recovered),so I really hope he will manage. Will be thinking of you all but won't be much near a computer till next Wednesday.

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 20:27

Praying you have a great time away Urban - "See" you on your return honey!

hi to all, a better evening with ds, it's just late afternoon he seems grumpy, even with a good sleep, just got to spot it and not let him get overtired..
my parents were jw's when i was child, didn't celebrate birthdays or christmas for a few years
my mum has since found GOD properly , and we are working on my dad..

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 20:56

Glad it has been better with DS honey - the late afternoon grumpiness is VERY common with ALL children, trust me - esp those under a year - they just can't handle it, bless 'em .... Just learn to read the "signs" and catch him at the right time and you will be absolutely fine! Glad to hear your mum found God eventually - praying fory our dad!! xx

OP posts:
mufti · 18/04/2007 21:04

thank you cd.
he has asked mum what happens when you die, so i think he is open which is a good start. i believe in subtle and slow, likewise with dh, too much just scares them off , i know what i was like, my mum took that approach with me and it paid off eventually
