Good morning!

[[[[[hugs]]]]]]]]] to you LWTG. I'm praying that your ds's tummy sorts itself uot and that God is very close to you at this time.

Hi FA! Good to hear that your pg is going well and that things are okay in your life! And thank God for washing machines!

Hi CD - hope the work on your driveway goes well.

I'm full of PMT and headache today....yuk. To compensate I'm making the most fabulous chocolate cake to take to fil's engagement party tomorrow with chocolate ganache...yummmmmm! The dcs are a bit high on chocolate after licking out various bowls!

Talking of chocolate, after I posted yesterday about this course at the hospital and having to pay for childcare, the answer kind of 'came to me' - I suddenly thought that sometimes doing what God asks of you does require a bit of scarifice...so for the 6 weeks that the course is running I am going to go without wine , chocolate magazines and newpapers ! And that should probably just about cover the cost of ds going to the cm and dd to the after-school kids' club (she is soooo excited about going! which makes me feel not so guilty) Once I start visiting patients I'll be doing it in ds's pre-school time so there's no problem there (apart from the housework not getting done...)

I'm reading Matthew's gospel atm and yesterday I read the words "I was sick and you visited me...to the extent that you did it to these brothers of mine, even to the least of them, you did it to me" (from Matt. 25). So I have no doubt that this is God's ministry and I do pray that by spending time with people in hospital I will come to see more of Jesus.

Hi everyone,

Roseylea - your posts always make me feel very humble. The work you do for God is so amazing that I am sure you can acheive anything. I am so glad that you managed to sort out the childcare problem and that God spoke to you in such a great way.

LWTGo - it never rains does it? Really hope that your DS is feeling better soon. My H was stopped twice for drink driving but after failing the road side breath test he managed to pass the blood test at the police station both times. He was very lucky - living without a car is cause for depression in itself - I really hope that your H manages to get through this.

MaryBS - prayers for the lady at your church. Some people have to be remarkably brave don't they?

CD - hows the drive entrance looking?!

Prayers for all others that need it too.

I have had a lovely day today with my massage this morning and then a hair cut this afternoon. My DS2 said he doesn't like my new hairdo and wouldn't cuddle me tonight!! Hopefully he will get over it soon!!

We are off to the farm tomorrow for my neice's 5th birthday so best I go and wrap the present, write the card and organise some picnic food!!

God Bless everyone
xxxx

Up at 6am, dead nervous.
I feel a bit queer about the baptism - why am i doing this after 20 years as a christian? - Because the time is right now, I suppose, but not sure why I am nervous.
Could you pray for us all today - especially some neighbours and good feinds, and our nanny who are coming to the service who dont normally go anywhere near a church. We'd love it to make an impact on people.

harrisey · 25/03/2007 07:18

And ... i recently posted on the health thread, the other bother is I think that I might have mumps - dh thinks it isa possibility, huge swollen glands and dry mouth, pain on chewing etc ......
Please ....NO!

CaptainDippy · 25/03/2007 14:01

Ooooh, yes, harrisey - your Baptism today - and your DH's and your children's Dedications .... How exciting! I hope it went wonderfully well and your non-Christian family were touched deeply by this incredible "pinning of your colours to the mast" - Thank you Jesus for lovely harrisey and her precious family!! [hugs] Let us know how it went and what your family thought ....

Also praying it isn't Mumps, poor thing. [hugs

All ok here, girls sleeping and I am catching up here and doing a few bits - seriously need to sort baby clothes .....

MarsLady · 25/03/2007 18:22

Hi all.

a couple of prayer requests that are basically the same.

2 ladies with "complicated" pregnancies that are due to give birth rather soon. Please could you pray that they have safe births and that they have good birthing experiences.

Thanks!

roseylea · 25/03/2007 18:46

Congratulations on your baptism and your dc's dedications Harrissey! Wh at a day! Do post and let us all know how it went.

CCM well done on your industriousness around the house! I'm impressed!

Hi CD! Did your entrance to your house get done? HOw are you today?

M2G&A your post made me feel very humble! Thank you for the lovely words of encouragement.

Panda hi! How are things with you? Are you still feeling 'grumpy with God'?

Hi Marslady you famous lady now with your lemon drizzle cake! I will pray for your ladies - having had rather a few 'complications' myself I know what it's like.

Well we had the engagement party for my FI Ltoday and it all went really well; both families chatted happily and the dcs loved it (FIL-s bride-to-be lives in the most amazing house, a bit like the house in 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - hiding places and interesting rooms everywhere!)

As we drove up to the house I said to dh, "I'm not sure about the moat and drawbridge" (there is a moat surrounding the house). Dh asked why and I said "Well, it's a bit tacky, isn't it?" To which dh replied that the moat dates back to the 11th century and it's one of the oldest remaining moated manor houses in England...whoops! That put me in my place, eh!
(I would never have said that to anyone other than dh, you understand!)

Went to a v. inspiring sevice to day for Slavery Awareness Sunday. I want to more or less nick the sermon in its entirety and present it as an assembly at school...[brain bubbling away...!]

CaptainDippy · 25/03/2007 19:46

ROTFL @ DH putting you in your place re "The Moat" - Good grief - what is your father marrying into???? Sounds amazing!! Has this lady earned all the money or is it inherited?? Sorry - That was rude - I am just in awe of The Moat and The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe House - Wow!! Glad you had a super time - but the Wedding wil be incredible - eat loads - that is my advice when going to posh do!!! Man, we are sooo poor!!

Praying that you will manage to persuade your DH that having another wee one is a great idea mufti!! My DH doesn't need persuading ..... Tee! Hee!

Fellow Captain - DH and I went to Venture when DD1 was 4 months and it wasn't too bad - the pictures are very, very pricey though -be warned - don't be "lulled" into spending more than you can afford. From what I have seen, Venture can be a bit "hit and miss" - some studios are fabulous, whereas others can be a little disappointing - You are under no obligation to buy anything - so don't if you are not happy ..... Sorry, don't want to sound negative; but just thought I would warn you. The B&W pic on my profile was taken by a local photographer who we were v.lucky to discover - she is fab and her prices are v.v.v.reasonable - will be using her again once new bubba is here.

Praying for your ladies and their 'complicated pregnancies' Marsy - Praying they have their bubbas soon and their births are more straight-forward than expected - You are one amazing lady!!

All ok in Dipsville - driveway is half-done and looking good and pond in back garden is nearly filled in - has been a productive time!

OP posts:
roseylea · 25/03/2007 20:32

Yes it is a bit - she owns over 800 acres of land and yes it is inherited. She is very lovely, a deeply committed christian and excellent with the dcs. My ds's comment is "She has got a lot of mud, you know, Mummy!" I am really happy for fil as he's the type of man who needs a woman...

CaptainDippy · 25/03/2007 20:38

I know the type ..... I am married to one!! (My dad's a bit the same, but he tends to go for "weedy, wet lettuce, needy type women", which is unfortunate - has your FIL's fiancee got a sis??? )

"She's got a lot of mud" .... LOL!!

So happy for them! ... and she is good with the DC's - bonus .... w/e's in the country, then!!!?

OP posts:
mumtogusnalbie · 25/03/2007 20:51

CaptainDippy - you have inspired me and i have now set up a profile too! Your pictures are lovely, I tried to find one of the boys when they were tiny but I couldn't - maybe we didn't have the digital camera then!

Roseylea - wow a real moat, thats definately something to boast about! I have a large garden but its really only a field and no moat in sight!!

Yesterdays pamper session went very well and DS2 was fine with me this morning - i think he had forgotten that he didn't like my hair! I died it red last night after they had gone to bed and I think it probably looks a bit more like they are used to now!

They both enjoyed spending the day with Daddy - well they would when he took them into town and spent a fortune on them by buying them Power Rangers. Oh well, they seem to be content with what they have at home and they understand that mummy doesn't have many pennies to spare but it does make me want to scream - he gave me £25.00 last month towards my coal, mmm least said I think!

Prayers for all those in need and God Bless everyone.
xxxx

PandaG · 25/03/2007 22:13

Hello all

Glad to hear good Sundays have been had. Ours was a bit odd, DD had a birthday party which cut right across church, so DH took her and missed most of the service, which was also quite odd, as we had the husband of the woman who inspired Rosey last week preaching, and the Holy Spirit is very heavy on him.

Rosey, I am feeling a lot less grumpy with God now, thanks so much for asking. Wouldn't say that the relationship is exactly great, but spending 30 mins each morning with DH and God is at least making a dint in me wanting to draw closer to Him. My prayer now is that I would know intimacy with God much more of the time, as a constant rather than just the moments when I feel close in worship or whatever. But am giving thanks that there are again moments when I feel close. I know that faith is built on much more than feelings, and when stuff is tough I just have to cling to what I believe, but I do want to feel it as well as know it.

PandaG · 25/03/2007 22:13

Very cute children CD and MTGAA!!

harrisey · 26/03/2007 01:57

Well here I am at silly o'clock and I still cant sleep. We have had the most amazing day!!!

The morning sercvice in church today has been described to me as 'powerful', 'overwhelming' and 'moving', as our 3 children were dedicated, we went on to have adult baptism for myself and my husband, and then to celebrate the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade.

First the pastor dedicated our children, giving them all a verse he had found for them in the bable, then praying for them all. It was very special to have the whole fellowship stand up and affirm that they would be standing with us as we raised our children to understand Jesus' love for them. Our dd1 had chosen to sing 'Jesus Loves Me', which was lovely.

Then the pastor called all the children down tot he front and explained to them the meaning of baptism. First, dh went into the pool. He gave a short testimony about the fact he has been a CHristian for 22 years but is only now obeying this command of CHrist's, to be baptised. He had chosen the hymn 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross .... Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all'

Then it was my turn. My testimony was that I am on a journey with Jesus and this is the next step - I then read a celtic confession of faith which began 'I call on all heaven today to witness that I have put on Christ' - I can let you have it all if you want.
It was the most amazing experience. You seem to be down there for ages. It is VERY wet - strangely wetter than you would imagine! The pastor and his assistant prayed for a real filling of the spirit on me as I was baptised, adn I came up crying - I could taste the salt on my face. I cant stop grinning, cant even sleep tonight!!! ~My song was 'Blessed be you Name' - after a few very hard years, words such as 'blessed be your name on the road marked with suffering, though there's pain in the offering, blessed be your name ... every blessing you pour out I'll turn back to praise, when the darkness closes in Lord, still I will say, blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be your glorious name ...." were more than appropriate.

The rest of that day has been a whirlwind. I dont often get to the evening service, but did tonight, adn it was unexpectedly communion, which seemed to seal the day in a special way.

So we did it, and here we are. It was immensely moving and powerful, and utterly right. If you are swithering yourself, go and find out about it, because I feel it has changed me forever!
