The Yurt at Yule

I thought I would start a winter yurt thread. So here is the yurt being decked with evergreens and alight with candles. A fire in the library is casting flickering shapes on Gothicmamas purple plush sofas and squishy beanbags and a low table is laid for tea.

Outside the forest is quiet and hung with drops of moisture and ready for the first snow to lay along the branches of the trees. The lake will be frozen in time for mid winter when we can go skating and the grasses of the prairie are rustling and frosted.

Wow, looks like a lovely place to lurk, can I join you?

skibump · 13/01/2007 12:06

Dam! jerked unceremoniously back to RL. Another time...

Papillon · 13/01/2007 16:37

aww glitter I am always about... lovely having my mobile friends to chat till wherever i am whatever i am up to

and yes i do like to fawn about being adventurous... we are off today to family friends to stay. They have giant tortoises and stick legged french dogs and live in a straw bale house

sounds right up the yurts alley!!

So California though Paps. Skibump feel free to post any time and welcome.

Am off today to the sea to commune with the dolphins and mer people. The sun is shining and we are taking a picnic of wonderful fruit, cheese and bread and some berry juice. I have also brought the kids their canoes. At the beach today there is a camel and a horse for rides along the sand and ponies for the kids.

I enjoyed my day at the beach and am writing a postcard to Paps. It has a huge picture of the seaside day and like all good magical postcards (in true Hogwarts style) it has moving images on it. I am there smiling and waving at her and the horses are swishing their tails whilst the dolphins jump and play.

What with all the storms both literal and figurative, I'm not sure I want to go out of here! Will anyone join me in a cup of mint tea to fortify us?

Papillon · 21/01/2007 08:10

Mint tea, will get my julep out again.

Coming home have again been reunited with my medicine cards, I sit on the deck and give male / female readings late into the night.

The postcard is beautiful as it flies with hawk eyes over the apple trees and into the plane, oak and elm. The evening sunlight draws the contours of distant hills into view as the clouds fill the sky in light array.

dogs play wearing bandaids applied by babes who smear toothpaste on as magic balm and wrap bandages around little bodies.

glitterfairy · 21/01/2007 08:38

Welcome home paps and hello major. I love mint tea so will gladly have a cup or three.

I have laughed and laughed at the dogs paps and the children have as well. Today we are going for a ride in my little cart attached to two small ponies whose harness jingles with bells as we make our way through the forest to the secret glade where the fairies play. We are satrting to think about building them new homes but are going to repair their homes for winter today.

Paps et all where are you all the yurt seems lonely today?

I am wandering the prairie as the snow settles on my horse scheherezade. The snow has been heavy but there is a track for my horse and I look at the tracks of the small animals and know that there is plenty of life busy and feverish in the prairie even though it seems so bleak and empty today.

We have been outside playing in the snow and wathcing a fox curled up in a sunny corner surrounded by 3 cats.

majorstress · 26/01/2007 15:00

Does anyone think the yurt is ready to move on from Yuletide? I hear the tiniest whispers of Spring stirring outside, I think....

hmm-St Brigid, Imbolc, Groundhog Day (!); Dawn, spring, buds, new nests; a threshold ? the state of being ?in between? places and times; youth and purity

Papillon · 30/01/2007 01:55

Good luck with spring Yurt names
Have been at organic river festival and mighty tired so will curl up in the bong tree and sleep for a week

glitterfairy · 30/01/2007 16:02

I like the Yurt buds, the Yurt at dawn, new nests for the yurt (although that sounds like a famous five book to me!).

Perhaps we should go on trying for now.

Have a good rest

Dawn is my middle name so biased on that one

From my slumber sensual dreams of night time an astral man dances with me, brings me into realms never before felt. The energy rejunavates me and I feel awoken.

The Yurt dawns into bud
