The Yurt at Yule

glitterfairy · 24/11/2006 11:00

I thought I would start a winter yurt thread. So here is the yurt being decked with evergreens and alight with candles. A fire in the library is casting flickering shapes on Gothicmamas purple plush sofas and squishy beanbags and a low table is laid for tea.

Outside the forest is quiet and hung with drops of moisture and ready for the first snow to lay along the branches of the trees. The lake will be frozen in time for mid winter when we can go skating and the grasses of the prairie are rustling and frosted.

ruty · 11/12/2006 13:19

[ducks in to say hello Paps, hope you're Ok and yurt looking lovely! Drove through Switzerland in Oct and thought of you.]

YuletidePaps · 11/12/2006 18:37

Hi Ruty, hope you are well, I am doing okay, just hanging out for my hols in NZ... next time come through Bern and drop in for a cup of swiss hot chocolate

ruty · 11/12/2006 19:19

Dh has cousins in Bern, so we might well do that one day!

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 12/12/2006 04:35

yuletide paps thanks for the link! Could I have some of that chocolate as am up packing and sorting again!?

Loved the tea and it soothed and calmed me. May well have to settle into my thistledown today as well and have a good reviving rest although in rl everything hectic.

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 14/12/2006 11:15

AM taking refuge here. It is sunny and the deck is open with hot tubs for everyone. In the distance the mountains shimmer and and they have their first coating of snow. The forest looks dark and quiet and the lake is glittering and spakling.

Am offline now for a couple of days so will rest here with my friends.

Bugsy2 · 14/12/2006 12:03

Enjoy GF!!! Not sure where you'll really be going - but hope it is at least half as nice as your seasonal yurt!

hub2dee · 18/12/2006 17:27

Hi Yurt dwellers, I don't often pop in, nor lurk, but a thread I started in Other Subjects might tickle your fancy / appeal to many yurt devotees.

Here . Seasons greetings to you all.

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 19/12/2006 22:33

Aha NLP am thinking of doing the master practitioner course next year! It is amazing how often this kind of synergy exists. I like much of what he writes too hub2dee.

THank you bugsy am back and have moved house in rl it was not nearly as bad as I imagined it would be but a good ending of things.

Am cleaning the yurt for yule today adn laying in fresh evergreens. I have many gifts from the forest dwellers and have gathered bowls of berries for everyone.

The candles the kids have made are all colours dark green, bright red and deep blue and they sparkle with long tall flames.

hub2dee · 20/12/2006 20:11

NLP is interesting, but for me, there's something that feels 'not quite right' LOL. I am sure any course in this area though would be uplifiting and fascinating !

Some of Robbins' writing (and tapes etc.) does feel 'a bit much' but the core of the message and approach is good. Obviously despite thousands (millions ?) doing his workshops etc. very very few are able to implement his techniques in the long term or create long term change, but nonetheless it's all fairly unforgettable stuff !

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 21/12/2006 08:30

Robbins is only one type of practitioner there are many other ways NLP can be used and in conjunction with something like soltuion based therapy or cognitive behavioural therapy it can be extremely powerful.

Happy Yule everyone and today there are mammoth celebrations everywhere in the lands. We have a fire going this evening and a huge feast prepared by the forest folk. We are eating out of dried bark plates and cups and there is a special forest mead and mini puddings of your choice served in acorn shells by squirrels.

The children have finished the decorations and the yurt is bathed in a golden light and decked with evergreens and candles.

sotheycalledmeparapapillon · 21/12/2006 15:54

hey I posted here yesterday, bearing cranberry love hearts, mistletoe and mulled wine. Or perhaps the mulled wine made think that what I thought was infact just me under under the Yule Tree sucking back the warm stuff!

Look forward to the feast tonight!

divamumdiva · 21/12/2006 16:02

this is ger aka yurt

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 21/12/2006 19:15

Yes very very festive I like that and Paps thanks for the food and mulled wine. AM drinking quite a bit tonight and properly relaxing. We all had presents today in rl!

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 22/12/2006 09:07

Well the fires burnt bright last night ans will burn again tonight. THe yule is quiet now but I would like to thank paps for her breakfast muffins. Mine was a strawberry one to remind me of summer and I have also eaten some berries and goats milk yogurt provided by the wild goats which wander the prairies.

gscrym · 22/12/2006 09:12

Blessings at Yule for everyone.

sotheycalledmeparapapillon · 22/12/2006 09:14

did it take long to chase those goats down??

To go with that flow, of wildling food, I have climbed the Bong Tree and filled my pot with wild honey. It is very potent mind and sure to make the Yurt, ger ger, giddy Especially when made into that Mead!

The fairies and the children have made wreaths to wear in the hair. Fine for running around the woods squealing and giggling with the wild man

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 22/12/2006 11:02

Like your wild man paps and that honey is potent potent potent but speaks of summer and flowers to me. I can almost taste the sunshine contained in it and the wild thyme which made it.

My wreath is all white today as am having a purifying day. I have lilies and white roses and white tulips. The children have wreaths in many colours and my kids are blue, purple and pink. Strangely my eldest dd now has returned to the days of pink via pastel blue but she is now very girly with it.

Yulemoonfiend · 22/12/2006 11:48

Just popped in to wish you all a merry yule and kiss you all under the misletoe

I have brought greenery into my house this morning and am looking forward to 24th when I can light my little yule fire outside - and we send the children's letters to santa up with the flames! (we would do it tonight, but we are off to MILs and can't )

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 22/12/2006 12:31

Merry Yule!

Mincepiedermama · 22/12/2006 12:37

Perhpas this is the thread to mention fly agarics.

Has anyone mentioned fly agaric mushrooms (highly psychodelic and toxic) and the role they may well have played in the story of Father Christmas?
Only, I mentioned this on another thread about Father Christmas and had no takers. I guess it sounds far fetched, no matter how much anecdotal evidence exists.

And yet people take the virgin birth etc in their stride.

sotheycalledmeparapapillon · 22/12/2006 12:43

Shamans used to dry them over the fire spider, they were the original ?father christmas". There was a thread about this last year.

Will forage for it later amongst the undergrowth

are you offering us some

Thanks for the kiss Yulemoon

Mincepiedermama · 22/12/2006 12:45

Here's a nice description.

sotheycalledmeparapapillon · 22/12/2006 12:50

not drinking reindeer piss even if they look like bambi

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 22/12/2006 22:07

Burning candles and drinking wine now and enjoying the starlight in the lands. All the kids are baking potatoes on the fire and singing now in the moonlight.
