Have you ever seen a ghost?

Serious question - have you ever seen a ghost? If so, why are you certain about what you saw? Could it have been a natural phenomenon? I ask because something I saw is preying on my mind. I was driving through a village on the East Sussex border one afternoon last year, thinking of God knows what, radio on, when all of a sudden the car filled with the smell of fuel (which makes me feel ill ). I then realised a plane was flying very low left to right across the road, so low that I thought it would crash. I couldn't see any markings on the plane but I remember the shape very clearly. I don't remember whether or not there was any noise, but I was so shocked I brought the car to a standstill and looked back across the road. I realised that to my right the land fell away very sharply, so it would have been possible for a plane to fly over me and then clear the trees heading off over the valley (i think) except that I couldn't see any plane. I honestly stood there and listened for an impact. I could still smell this incredible odour of aviation fuel (like when you are crossing the tarmac sometimes on a small airport and the wind catches you, only much stronger). Never thought about ghosts before, but I still wonder what exactly I saw that day.

I haven't 'seen' a ghost but truly believe a couple of relatives have 'visited me' in my lucid dreams. I have lucid dreams and three or four dreams were unlike any others. I never normally hear voices or see faces in my dreams, except these few.....where I heard very distinct voices telling me stuff and then being rescued very quickly by a relative and then he was gone.

I'm not religious and an atheist however, I do believe that when you die, you aren't just gone. I believe in ghosts. Nobody has proven they don't exist even if they haven't proven they do.

It's not largely women who have seen the ghost in my house. It was my teenage sons, individually, over the past months. I didn't let them know I looked for what they saw, and I haven't told them since that I've seen it, I'm unsure if I will, probably some day. What I do know is that my belief in ghosts and unexplained occurences is now 100%, I believe people and their experiences now whilst before I was sceptical, and its changed me. A bit. I wish I hadn't seen it, but I did. That is all I'm going to say on it here, but I might take a look at the forums Dione I didn't know there were such things.

i and my kids have seen ghost.
i have seen an orb i still have the recording on my phone. people have seen it. but when i tried to post it on FB it could not be seen :/

me and the kids were play fighting once and a black cirle about the size of a sandwich plate traveled across the ceiling. it paused above our heads then vanished into the wall.

kids have spoken about seeing a man on our landing he has white hair and chattery teeth, and he makes grunting sounds...my dad had white hair and he was could not get warm for a while before he died. he also used to grunt when he was trying to breath. i could be over thinking that bit though but i do belive they have seen a man on the landing.

son said a few nights ago he felt like he was being watched. he thought it was me winding him up. he waved and said hello mum. then he said he turned to look and it was just a face that looked like me but was not me. no body just the face. dont know what was about.

i saw a ghost a long time ago i was at my dads place. i looked out of the spy hole dont know why. There was a woman in a night dress just looking out of the window. she turned and looked towards me. i glanced away for a second and she was gone.

people believe in god. why not ghost

No such thing as ghosts, anyone that believes differently should seek medical help before responding to this post.

DioneTheDiabolist · 12/08/2015 12:14

This is an Internet forum where anyone who registers can post whatever they like as long as it is within guidelines. No medical intervention, proof or certificates required Bleak.

ghostspirit · 12/08/2015 12:25

what if the doc i see believes in ghosts as well.

Athousandtrees · 12/08/2015 12:26

WOW WOW WOW! I have no definite views either way, I've never seen a ghost and don't know whether they exist or not.

But I don't think posters should be screeching down their keyboards at others opinions and beliefs.

Bettylovestodance · 12/08/2015 12:33

I have not seen a ghost but 100% heard a ghost. We were staying in a very old cottage on holiday in Suffolk. Everyone was asleep and it was early morning. I was lying in bed awake and then all of a sudden there was someone playing the piano downstairs - not a tune as such, just clunking on it,like a child would do. I woke my Sister and she heard it too. We checked in all the bedrooms and everyone was still asleep. I didn't believe in ghosts before this but that's proof enough for me.

Verbena37 · 12/08/2015 12:35

Bleakhouse your statement should also apply to anybody who believes in God then Wink

TTWK · 12/08/2015 12:49

Because two wrongs don't make a right.

Oh ffs!! That'll have been a mouse or a rat inside the piano, not that uncommon. Especially in an old cottage. If it was playing Mozart's 4th symphony, it might have been a bigger mystery!

whos to say whats wrong and whats right

Ghostexperience · 12/08/2015 12:56

It is certainly clear to see which mindset on this thread seems to feel the need to aggressively ram their point of view down others throats though. Others are just sharing their experiences!

Bleakhouse1879 · 12/08/2015 13:04

Ghostexp: Do you not want rational and accurate assessment of these experiences? Or do you want the more irrational section of society to win through?

Rewy · 12/08/2015 13:11

I have seen a ghost
100% know what I saw
Also many fleeting glances , eg someone going into a room etc.
Have had quite a few other experiences.
I don't think anyone can be convinced unless they experience it for themselves.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 12/08/2015 13:15

I'd say I'm on the fence with this, but honestly cannot understand why those that firmly do not believe don't just avoid the thread?

Does it make you feel better to be mean and nasty to people who are simply expressing their beliefs? Does it make you feel superior to call people stupid and uneducated when they recount an incident that has baffled or awed them?

It's just appalling that you feel the need to bash people over this. If you don't believe, fine. But it's not necessary to be aggressively nasty to those who do not share your belief.

TTWK · 12/08/2015 13:18

whos to say whats wrong and whats right

Peer reviewed science, rational thought, logic, reason, lack of verifiable evidence, known facts about the nature of death, biology, physics.

There's a few to be going on with.

TTWK · 12/08/2015 13:23

Would you feel the same is people posted racist or homophobic views? That those who disagree should just avoid the thread, and not be mean and nasty and argue with them?

When people talk crap, I challenge it. If you don't like that idea, then I'm not sure the internet is for you.

Ghostexperience · 12/08/2015 13:38

BleakHouse what the heck? I have asked at least twice on this thread for alternative explanations and would love a rational and accurate assessment as you put it? But no one has offered anything other than you imagined it or you are mistaken!

scatterthenuns · 12/08/2015 13:44

I'm with Lemon. I love a bit of woo, in the same way that I like dragons and the toothfairy.

Ghosts don't exist.

DioneTheDiabolist · 12/08/2015 13:48

Racist and homophobic views are discriminatory and have a negative impact on the real lives of others. In what way is that similar to threads where people recount ghost stories?

TTWK · 12/08/2015 13:57

Because belief in "harmless" supernatural crap leads to grieving people paying money to con artists to contact their loved ones and vulnerable people (more often than not women) paying so called psychics (fraudsters) to do the same. It's the thin end of a malignant wedge and I'll challenge it whenever I can.

If you don't like it, then tough.

HTH. Smile

TTWK · 12/08/2015 14:00

But no one has offered anything other than you imagined it or you are mistaken!

That's because that is what happened. You did imagine it, or you were mistaken.

I refer back to my post about women claiming they are pregnant with alien babies, having been beamed up to a spaceship. What else would you say to them, when they insist it happened, and asked you for an alternative explanation?

Ghostexperience · 12/08/2015 14:09

Do you know what I would say?

I would say I don't know what happened to them. Not because o believe in aliens but the one thing I am certain of is that I don't know everything. If you believe you know everything you are in my opinion more delusional than someone who thinks ghosts or aliens are possible.
