I dont know if I am way off the mark here, so flame me (in a loving Christian fashion !!) if I am wrong. But I was wondering if we shoud be praying for MN. There has been a lot of hurt on the site recently with some nasty trolling rather than just silly mucking about ( though I try to keep off those threads as I know I am just there for the gossip and gossip is one of my worst failings), and there are some people out there who are hurting a lot. I know I often pray for people as I read their threads, but I also try to pray for the 'institution'' of MN, because there have been times over the last few years where advice here has been, if not life saving, then at least of very great benefit to my mental health. I love Mumsnet and those involved and wondered if any of the rest of you felt like joining me in praying for the site - for friendships, honesty, healing of hurts, community and fellowship amongst the members?

CaptainDippy · 09/10/2006 08:25

You are absolutely right harrisey - I don't really visit many other threads except this one, Bible Bashers R Us & my antenatal thread, so I don't see a lot of this trolling and nastyness - My antenatal thread (who are a lovely bunch) have been talking a lot about some of the horrid stuff that has been going on, so I have been praying. Yes, we should all pray - This should be a place where people can come and feel welcome, accepted and safe. A place where they should not be judged and not be "messed around with". I can't believe some of the stuff that has been going on and I pray that the Devil gets his nasty butt away from this site asap!! Fill this place up with YOUR love and YOUR welcome and YOUR acceptance Lord. Thank you for bringing it to the fore harrisey, it is v.important!! How are YOU doing anyway, honey??

Hello and Welcome snuffy - nice to have you with us!! Any friend of Panda's is a friend of ours!! Do keep posting....

NQSM - Praying for your wee DS today and all this week as he goes back to school after the w/e - Praying protection over him and praying it won't be so bad for him as he thinks. Poor little man. Keep us updated....

STILL feeling pretty dire today. Pains in lower abdomen, full of cold, headache and sore muscles. I'm going to call the drs and make an appointment for this afternoon, although I know it is futile. Perhaps I should go to the EPU, but no one to look after the DD's. Mmmmmmmmmmm.... Lord take away this horridness!!

[hugs] and prayers to all. xxxx

Same here, I don't visit many other parts of the site, although I've picked up vibes from other threads, where you see thread TITLES attacking people! Praying for peace and love to descend on this site.

Snuffy, welcome - glad you feel you could join us! We don't like frightening people away . Our DD was 7 on Saturday. It seems to be the age for being tearful, she'll cry at the drop of a hat at the moment!

NQSTM - praying for your DS that his confidence is boosted.

Podmog · 09/10/2006 09:24

PandaG · 09/10/2006 10:07

Thanks Snuffy, and welcome to this thread no more lurking here ok! you know we had a great w/end, thanks for having us!

harrisey - really agree with you about praying for the site. I can be a right gossip too, so have been guilty of following some of the gossipy and unsupportive threads. Prayer for the hurting people, and the great institution of help and support, laughs and wisdom that MN can be is I reckon vital.

NQSTM - glad DS's friends were friendly towards him yesterday, will pray that this follows through at school when adults aren't watching.

How you feeling today CD?

well breakfast is nearly eaten so I ought to return to the ironing. See you all later

CaptainDippy · 09/10/2006 10:30

I am actually feeling surprisingly better, Panda. DH is going to come home at lunchtime to look after the girls for the afternoon. I feel really guilty about him coming home if I feel a lot better. What do you guys think I should dooooo?? Should I have the afternoon off to allow myself a smidge of time to fully recover or should I just get on with it?? I just feel a bit of a fraud - him coming home and me being ok, iykwim?? Give me some advice and reassurance, please!!

Praying for poor DS Podmog, lots of it going round atm - you should see my girls' noses, esp DD2 - I've never seen so much snot in my whole life!!!!!!! Glad church was so lovely yesterday too - you just need that once in a while, don't you??

Going to go and call a local church about a receptionist job advert now - pray hard!!

MaryBS · 09/10/2006 10:53

CD - no question about it, take the time off to recover!!!! I command you!!! You need this time to recover physically and recover spiritually. Take yourself off somewhere, find a quiet spot and read something which inspires you!

CaptainDippy · 09/10/2006 11:08

Thank you Mary - LOL @ "command"!!

I will!

CD - just in case you're still here, an inspirational quote for you:

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39)

A scary thought... I'm starting to LIKE Paul

sleepysooz · 09/10/2006 17:36

Sorry to bore you, I think my DH has poinsoned himself and the kiddies, with a (wait for it).... A tinned Frey Bentos pie that I had won on the tombola at the church fair on saturday! I feel really guilty, twins were just getting over a sickness bug, and seemed to pick up last night, only to come down with belly pains and awful runny tummy!

Please can I have more help in praying for their recovery, and I promise I will never consume a won food item from the church tombola again!

sleepysooz · 09/10/2006 17:36

I meant 'poisoned'

PandaG · 09/10/2006 17:39

Hope you are feeling better for an afternoon off CD

How is the essay going Mary?

Oh no sooz - will pray for them. Could it just be a reccurrence of the bug not the pie?

MaryBS · 09/10/2006 17:42

Awww Sooz Hope they feel better soon.

I won a bottle of whiskey on the bottle stall at church. Unfortunately it was the bottle I'd donated. Fortunately they let me swap it for a bottle of gin, that I was quite happy to consume (albeit over a period of several weeks/months).

CD - how was your afternoon?

PandaG · 09/10/2006 17:45

I drink both gin and whisky Mary, but of course in moderation

CaptainDippy · 09/10/2006 19:25

I prefer wine or if I do have spirits, I'm an Archers kinda gal or Malibu - or Baileys - yum!!

Bum to your DTs being poorly again - and DH - I hope you've learned your lesson, young lady!!!!!!

We've all done stuff like that honey - don't beat yourself up about it!!

How's the essay Mary?? Ready to hand in yet??

OP posts:
MaryBS · 09/10/2006 20:11

I like wine, archers and malibu too!

No, not yet. I've got word blindness when I look at it. I have a friend looking after the kiddiwinks between 3 and 6:30pm tomorrow. What I effectively have is a document pulling together all the best bits from the books/internet that I have read. It just needs co-ordinating and ordering to turn into a draft essay (it only needs to be in draft form)

MaryBS · 09/10/2006 20:24

You might have seen about the army medical corps man who was killed in Iraq? Its about 30 miles from where my brother is going. However, there are 10 people who were also seriously hurt in that blast, if you could pray for them please. I was speaking to my brother on the phone, earlier tonight.

longwaytogo · 09/10/2006 21:21

evening all peeps, just in from work, no requests really. Feeling relatively ok appart from nursing a poorly thumb that i bashed at work today.

Any news on that book yet girlies, really need to settle down to read something.

MaryBS · 09/10/2006 21:23

Hi LWTG. Nanou has the book, and she only logs in from work. Its called "Nice girls don't change the world" and its by Lynne Hybels. (sp?)

longwaytogo · 09/10/2006 21:37

mmmm saw it on the wesley owen leaflet

nearlythree · 09/10/2006 22:19

Hi, everyone. I know I haven't been here for a while but want you all to know I have been thinking of you and praying for you. I also think I need to explain why I haven't been around and why I might not be. As I think I have said before I get very anxious because of my dcs being so ill esp. dd2 around the time of ds's birth. Any talk of viruses and bugs just sends me into a total panic. I'm really bad - I can hardly bring myself to let dd1 touch ds even though she adores him, in case she has a bug which hasn't come out yet, and I'm going around with disinfectant wipes and dry wash in my bag. I am having my first counselling appt. tomorrow to see if I can find a way of coping with my anxiety. I am so ashamed and ask your forgiveness, you are all so strong for each other and I feel I am letting you down (as well as my family of course).

harrisey · 09/10/2006 22:25

oh nearly 3 you are not letting anyone down at all. Tat is the whole point of the Body of Christ - we are here for each other, when one is weak, another can be strong. I will pray for your counselling appointment. I once had crippling panic attacks but counselling really sorted me out - adn God too of course.
Holding you in my prayers tonight
xx

MaryBS · 10/10/2006 07:31

N3, in total agreement with harrisey on this (you reminded me of Paul's letter to the Romans, with your where one is weak... ).

We're just glad you're here, joining in. And grateful for your prayers too! Praying for your counselling appt today.
