I've been too knackered to put proper effort into the essay today so am counting on everyone going to bed well tonight so that I can go for it! Please pray for my motivation because it has to be by midnight Wednesday. There are no extensions and it's worth 25% of my course marks

Just to let you know: Simon is opening his eyes but there is still no recognition. They think that the reason he won't come out of the coma is because the bloodclot in his brain isn't dispersing. His wife could do with a lot of prayer at the moment. Her MIL is there and giving her a hard time for wanting to spend some time with her children. MIL thinks that her place is beside her DH. The kids need her desperately. Her DS1 just started senior school, refuses to see his father and is withdrawing into himself. She's not eating or sleeping. We're (a couple of us) trying to take her out for a drink just to give her a break from everyone. Please pray for her strength because I fear that all this pressure may break her!

Have updated my prayer list and am praying for you all.

longwaytogo · 12/09/2006 15:39

Hi, a very bleary-eyed TR here. Our ds (2 and a half) went down with some kind of virus yesterday and had to spend the night in hospital with temps in the 39s and vomiting (poor wee mite!) I stayed with him curled up on an NHS bed . He's still very hot (38s now) and shaky but they've ruled out anything really serious. Please pray for rapid recovery. The hospital facilities and staff were great, much better than I thought they would be.
Please pray! Sorry this is a bit of an SOS one but I'm all overthe place. thanks you lovelies! BTW CD - how was the test?

Nanou1 · 12/09/2006 16:30

will pray for yours and you texas. can't bear children being in hospital . be strong

Nanou1 · 12/09/2006 16:52

have to go now. thinking of you all esp cd... can't be good if we have not heard from you yet... let the crew know how you are Captain!!!! . speak to you all tomorrow. x

MaryBS · 12/09/2006 18:59

You ask, did I behave myself? Well, if you discount kicking M. and you discount when I told him that if anything happened to DH, I'd go back to being a RC, then yes I behave

TR - praying for your DS to get better and for you to get some rest

Marslady, praying for Simon

DG - praying for your mum and all your family

CD where are you? I passed my test at 4th attempt.

MaryBS · 12/09/2006 19:00

PCC meeting soon, so very quick posting - sorry

longwaytogo · 12/09/2006 19:29

Don't think cd has ever been away for so long has she? Come on woman I know your lurking just tell us, we love you all the same. Please let us support you xxx

nearlythree · 12/09/2006 20:59

texasrose poor ds. I know exactly what this is like and it is so awful, except of course that you know they are in the best place.

Thanks for all your prayers, I feel like I am always asking for something! The situation that I am asking prayers for is one that has been brewing for some time, every now and then it gets brought out into the open and then we pretend it doesn't exist. This has gone on too long and I am now determined that things will change. So it might be a while before I can tell you if your prayers work, Mary! But things have been better today which is a good step.

Praying for you all, must go to bed now as only had 3.5 hrs sleep and am shattered.

Thank you again.

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2006 21:49

Volia!!!!!

She's back!!!!!!!

Bless you guys!! - All your lovely messages for me!! Feeling very loved and warm and fuzzy right now - thank you sooooo much!!

Sorry I've been away soooo long - absolutely non-stop day - obviously had test this morning and then went straight to work and my boss took the computer (laptop) home with her so I couldn't post!!!!! Argh!! Withdrawal symptoms were strong, but I managed to battle through somehow!! Then I went shopping, then had to put DD's to bed, then had tea, then went to someone's house and dropped some Truly Madly Baby stuff off and then came back home, made a million phone calls ........ and here I am!!

Haven't been avoiding you on purpose, I promise!!

Anyway - I failed my test - - I messed up at a roundabout (won't go into details, but it was silly), apart from that my driving was fine. So there you go. Not feeling upset about it - I'll just pick myself up, dust myself off and try again. Put myself in for a re-test straight away, but the soonest date they can give me is Oct 26th!!!!!!!!! Hoping for a cancellation spot sooner .....

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers though - was thinking of you guys praying for me as I did the test, which was reeeealy nice. Love you all!!

MaryBS · 13/09/2006 10:44

CD - good luck with the new job! Thinking and praying for you!

LWTG - Last time we went, DS ran out screaming he didn't want to go in - please God you don't get the same!

PRAISE GOD PRAISE GOD! I've been stretching my ministerial wings, and they haven't been clipped , in fact the contrary!

texasrose · 13/09/2006 11:04

Thank you all for your prayers! Ds is much better, watching Barney now, still not eating but drinking gallons of milk. One of his eyes is all red and puffy and half-closed but he is so much better. Proud mummy moment - I feel so proud of the way that he handled being in hospital - he was so good-natured and well-behaved, he spoke so politely to everyone and didn't complain at all. Bless him! At one point the nurse had to give hom a Calpol enema (he was vomiting too much to take it orally) and afterwards he just said "That was a little bit strange" - who wouldn't love a boy like that?!!

CD, never mind. I cut someone up on a roundabout on my 4th driving test on the way back to the test centre - gah! I finally managed to pass on my 5th attempt. I'm not one of life's naturals when it comes to anything involving controlling speed and physical co-ordination!

Hope you are all okay and that the dentist trip goes well for your girls Longway! "See" you all soon...

Nanou1 · 13/09/2006 11:05

(tying to the chair won;t do... she'll just scream !!!

Nanou1 · 13/09/2006 11:06

marybs... i can see your wings from my office window!

PandaG · 13/09/2006 11:07

Praying for you in your new job CD

Mary - Glad that your ministerial wings are being stretched, what have you been doing?

Had a productive day yesterday, need to tackle the ironing mountain tonight! No great revelations, but I did spend some time researching a possible job.

I help organise the prayer group at DS's school. We asked if we could send out a flyer to introduce the group to all the new parents - not allowed to do this, but am allowed to put a note in the next newsletter. We want to be able to send out a prayer requests newsletter for parents/friends who want to come but can't make the meeting. We meet in the school once a week which is great, but the head is very cautious, not wanting to promote one faith over another. I agree that cannot be done within a multi faith school, butu when she promotes for example one cinema chain over another by sending out their flyer, or one out of school tuition (sent out Kumon leaflets), I do think she could send out a note form the prayer group, and one from the Muslims and anyone else who want to get together to pray for the school. hmmm

PandaG · 13/09/2006 11:15

Texasrose - so glad to hear DS is a lot better.

No suggestions Nanou - but my sympathy!

Nanou1 · 13/09/2006 11:16

hi pandag! interesting... anyway cd, how is your first day? i really miss dd today . she had a terrible tantrum last night... would not eat; would not bath; she just got so hysterical. i think she is adjusting to the new routine but i feel so bad she spends from 8am to 6pm at creche 5 days a week ... and she was up at 6am this morning so i had to get up too! not looking forward to tonight

texasrose · 13/09/2006 11:47

Hi Nanou, just wanted to say that when our dd was smaller she couldn't sit still for any length of time. She's a very high-energy child and used to run around during the songs time at playgroup and at any opportunity really! I cringed when she ran around during church services but we talked to as many people as we could at church and this is what we came up with...she wasn't allowed to go up to the front of the church or onto the altar during services because that would distract everybody, but apart from that she could run around as much as she liked at the back. We took toys and fruit to keep her occupied but the main thing was that we wanted her earliest impressions of church to be nice and fun rather than always being told off or restrained. We also started explaining what was happening in the service when she was really very young so that she'd start to be involved, and also to keep chatting to her on our laps! During the prayers I would say a quiet prayer with her that she would be able to understand. So it actually helped in a funny kind of way! We tried deliberately not to get stressed out about it and just to take it all in our stride. We figured she'd learn from watching everybody else how to behave and this has happened - she's learning now more how to behave in different environments and that what is okay and encouraged in one place (eg running around at the park) is not okay in another. That's quite a hard concept for a 2.5 yr old to grasp! It did mean that for my MIL's funeral we chose not to take her whereas if she'd been a quieter child we would have. But I'd rather have an energetic child full of life running around than one who just wants to sit around - and most people tend to agree. Most churches love having toddlers in the services but that does mean adapting to their ways as well as teaching the children how to behave (Which I see as a long-term process rather than an automatic thing). Actually, now that I think of it, isn't it refreashing that children are just themselves in church? we adults instinctively change our behaviour and the way we talk when we go into a church but children haven't yet learnt that so they just come exactly as they are. Jesus said "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these" Sorry this has been a bit of a ramble! I'll stop now.

texasrose · 13/09/2006 11:55

Pandag, just a thought about your prayer group - some schools wouldn't allow it at all so you've got a good thing going there. How you publicise it is a relatively unimportant issue compared to keeping it going and using the opportunity to be a good "shining light" in your school (IMO!) Why not give your e-mail address or other contact details in the message which goes out on the newsletter and offer people the opportunity to send prayer requests that way? Compared to places like France we have so much freedom to express faith, but it's a fragile freedom so I wouldn't worry too much about what the head has said, just be thankful that you can meet in the school to pray for it! Sorry if that's a bit preachy, don't mean to be.
