Just checking in to say the meal was a big hit! AND I behaved myself!

harrisey · 12/09/2006 00:06

I have been praying for you ladies and it is so good to get the feeedback.

Could I ask for some prayer? Me, dh and a good friend are all doing Bible College Entrance Exams on Friday. It is to get us directly into 2nd year. 2 x 1hr exams, one on Old and New Testament, one on Beleif and Thought. We have been studying like crazy and have prepared all our answers (it is a seen paper, you prepare 4 answers, they ask you any 2, for both papers) but now we have to learn it all.

Could you pray for peace of mind, for sleep while we are preparing (I am very nervous and not sleeping well) and, if you have enough faith, for us all to pass - even me! It would be great to get in to 2nd year as there are more choices of courses we are interested in and of course it gets us through college faster so we can do all the other things we want to do!

Thankyou so much. Great news esp about DGs mum. I am writing a journal about what I have been learning about prayer (also for college entrance) and have written about learning the value of a group of people praying together and of the importance of intercession! Also about the way new media can be used to expand prayer circles (MN of course!!!)

naswm · 12/09/2006 07:22

I'm running late already but wanted to post this quickly. Spoke to DG on MSN last night. She is home now. Her mother is still very poorly in hospital in France. But she has made small improvements since her stroke last Wednesday. As soon as she is stable enough she will be transferred back to the UK for treatment in a stroke unit. Please continue to pray for them all. DG is verty grateful for the support on here and asked me to hello to everyone for her.

Good luck this morning CD!

Got to dash

naswm x

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2006 07:50

Will be praying Harrisey - esp on Friday, don't you worry!! Would be great to get straight into the 2nd year - wish you could do that at Uni - 1st year was such a waste of time!!!!!

More good news about DG's mum - so glad she is well enough to be transferred back to the UK - will make visiting etc soooo much easier - Praise God for that!! Continual prayers for her quick recovery - do keep us updated, thank you naswm!!

MaryBS · 12/09/2006 08:19

CD praying for you and your nerves! Remember pray to the Lord, but don't do it while you're driving (especially if you put your hands together and close your eyes when you pray)

Praying for you too Harrisey. You are doing the Lord's will, He will look after you.

This is just a flying visit, thanks for the update on DG's mum. Will look in later...

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2006 09:01

LOL Mary!! I am a "hands together, eyes closed", traditional kinda gal, so definitely not a good idea!!

Thank you for your prayers - can't actually believe by the end of today I'll actually have taken a driving test!!!! Never thought I would get this far!!

MarsLady · 12/09/2006 09:08

CD... I pray the peace of God be with you as you drive. Just remember.... you can do ANYTHING!

Update: As you know my client's waters broke. I got a call again at 10.05pm to say that her contractions were coming thick and fast. I arrived at hospital at about 10.30pm and she was calling for an epidural. Bless her. The pool was almost ready so I persuaded her to wait. She had about half a dozen contractions, was fully dilated, got in the pool, another half a dozen contractions and a beautiful baby boy was born at 11.10pm. So ladies.... thanks for your prayers... it was a quickie indeed!

Nanou1 · 12/09/2006 09:52

hi guys. quick update - busy at work with various tedious bits to do!!! dh very happy with first day - said it's going to be hard work but i think it's good for him . good team; great premises - he is ! gut feeling so good about the place he wants to stay there for the longest time possible. thank you Lord, thank you all. Had problems with pc and copying our brochure onto it and before i knew it dh and vicar back at our place to try and sort things out. dh and i useless with it esp when it doesn't work- shamed by vicar who seems very knowledgeable on that too. but he had to be quick cos he had ballroom dancing session to go to !!!!! i know a bit silly but found it hard to keep a straight face!!!! took dd to nursery today and they told me she played a joke on them yesterday. took one shoe off and hid it; took them one hour to find it so she had to play in the garden wearing wellies!!!!!!! such a monkey. cd best of luck for driving test. anyway best go and will catch up later. have a good day all.

Xavielli · 12/09/2006 09:57

Nanou1 · 12/09/2006 13:54

i am sure you are right lwtg. i was just surprised that's all. thought he would be more into sports than dancing .
cd... if you did not make it it's ok you know. i passed my driving test on the 5th attempt; my dear grandfather - rest his soul- took me there saying you WILL pass. when we got there, he went to have a chat with the inspector. to this day i don;t know what my grandfather said but i did pass. i can't help wondering if the inspector was bribed somehow . the question is ... do i want to know...

PandaG · 12/09/2006 14:53

Hi N3, praying for peace for you all

Harrisey, praying for peace for you too as you study

Marsy, glad the birth went so well, how is the essay going?

Nanou, so glad the 1st day went well

CD, hoping and praying you passed, but if not there is always next time. Took me 3 attempts and over 70 lessons

naswm, thanks for the update, give DG our love

Well, DS is at school, DD is at nursery for the whole day, and I am spending the day praying and planning for my future, once DD goes to school in Jan. Will have about 5 hours to myself every Tuesday for a term, please pray I will hear what God wants me to do, and that as I push doors and try things out the right door will swing open and the rest will clang resoundingly shut.

DumbledoresGirl · 12/09/2006 14:58

Hello everyone. Thank you so much all of you who prayed for my mother when she had a stroke last week in France. She is in a very bad way so I wasn't feeling like chatting on Mumsnet, but I had to come on to thank you for your support and to let you know I have had a little bit better news today: having said yesterday that she would not be repatriated until at least next week, my father has just phoned me to say that they are now looking to fly her back to England in a special air ambulance on either Thursday or Friday. It is so so important that she is brought back home as, although the French medical staff are excellent, the language barrier is great and she desperately needs as much spoken stimulus as she can get. Also, my father could do with being able to speak properly to the medical staff, and to be on home soil with his friends and family to support him. So, although she is still very sick and has an indescribable mountain to climb in terms of rehabilitation, the news that she might be home by the weekend is really encouraging.

So thanks again for your prayers and for your kind words. I hope to be able to feel like chatting again on Mumsnet generally soon, but at the moment I am confining myself to letting you girls know how much you are appreciated.

Oh and I hope you pass today CD - although if you do, will the rest of us be safe on the roads?
