Hello there!!

"Never doubt that a community of thoughtful, committed women, filled with the power and the love of God, using gifts they have identified and developed, and pursuing passions planted in them by God - never doubt that these women can change the world"

Need I say more (thanks for that quote MaryBS!)

Well, here's a summary of July's requests - Do update if you can!!

MaryBS - Prayers for her mum coming to terms with her vocation. Been having vivid dreams and would like for them to stop (have they?) DH's nephew was adopted at the age of 3 and is now exhibiting some bad behavioural problems, mum and dad asking about "giving him back" etc. Very difficult situation. Prayers for study etc as she undertakes the course to become a Reader at church. Difficult situation regarding the church hall needs to be resolved. DD has a class mate who keeps hitting her etc, MaryBS unsure of how to handle the situation. Lots of prayers for non-Chiristian DH as he becomes more involved in church life (YEY! ) Prayers for situation between Vicar and a member of choir and finally prayers for a friend who has been meeting with Social Workers re: possibly adopting today! Pudmog - Feeling nauseous still (16 weeks PG, due on Jan 17th) and has chest infection. Has been struggling to control DS' asthma and has been really, really struggling with church (one couple in particular making it very hard.) Continuing prayers for the situation regarding racist accusations levelled at her children's school.

Twiga - DH's Uncle has Oesophogeal cancer and is very, very ill.

harrisey - Has found somewhere to live when her and her family move to Glasgow to attend Bible College in Sept. Praise God!!

Xavielli - Dad is home from hospital and is doing well. Lots of prayers for her sister who has had to have an abortion following the discovery that her unborn baby had Edward's Syndrome. Prayers as they cope with this loss.

longwaytogo - Ongoing prayers for her DD's health problems, especially for her as she attends Allergy Clinic on Aug 31st Prayers too for her nan and grandad who were involved in a car accident; although they were not seriously hurt, they are battered and bruised and coming to terms with the shock of it all. Lots of prayers for her friend who is going to adopt a little boy - they are meeting up for the 1st time very soon!!

JessicaandRebeccasMummy - DH had another operation on July 5th - Is going to be discharged from the army very soon, lots of prayers for them as a family - finding new job, home etc etc.

Nanou1 - DH didn't get job in the end. Feeling very and right now - lots of prayers needed for reassurance and acceptance - and for another to job to come up very soon!! How did DD do in France Nanou1 btw??

TigerT - DD had to have another op on her head on July 6th as wound was becoming infected - praying that her little DD is ok, the infection is gone and she is on the road to recovery.

footprint - Struggling with depression and anxiety - has been doing better and was last seen going off on her hols with her family! How are you doing honey??

katzg - Didn't get job , but is feeling positive and praying hard that another job opportunity will come up soon as her contract on her current job runs out on Aug 31st. Also prayers for her DD who is under Consultant care for the skin condition Cutaneous Mastocytosis.

PandaG - Currently off on lots of hols - so praying she is having a lovely time! Her youth leader who had cancer died and the service was a beautiful tribute to her.

CatJ - DD4 is still in hospital and is improving, but she is going to require lots of ongoing prayers as she is going to spend quite a bit of time in hospital over the coming weeks / months etc .... Lots of prayers for all the LO's that DD4 is in hospital with.

NotQuiteSoTiredMum - DS2's excema is very bad and keeping them all up at night - Prayers for sleep in that household!!

puddingz - Prayers for the family of a little boy (8 yrs) who was tragically killed in a Hit and Run incident.

naerlythree - Prayers for baby DS who has been very poorly.

Xavielli - praying for you. I get really bad p.p.s too

katzg - praying for your friend - not fun for her! Good luck on the job front!

LWTG - much sympathy for you {hug}. I think on the subject of tarot, I would do as you did. However it might be worth letting slip you are a Christian, because you don't really want to be put in an impossible position - what if next time they try to pressurise you into having a reading?

Mum and I are still on 'ceasefire', which is good. Although I have just found out that she believes that Jesus was an only child and Mary remained a virgin her entire life (despite what the bible says, she says Jesus' brothers and sisters were not related to him). I have to admit that was what I was brought up believing... perhaps I should start a thread on it.

Xavielli · 16/08/2006 19:56

Oooh... me and DP were just watching the news and there was an article on there about 3 new planets that have been kept hushed up.... What effect do you think these will have on zodiac/tarot etc?

God is good.

longwaytogo · 16/08/2006 20:55

marybs they know i'm a christian, in fact they know I used to be a minister, i'm a very open person which probably isn't a good thing but there we go. They know exactly why i'm now in the job i'm in.

DD bedroom is done, done, done. Can't see the floor in our room mind you or the landing but that will have to wait till Fri as working tomorrow.

All this talk of new babies I just love new babies.

MaryBS · 16/08/2006 21:43

lwtg - if thats the case, I find it a little sad that they didn't seem to consider how you might feel on it... how are all your family crises btw? {hug}

I found out a bit more about the boy that died at Walsingham... he was 15

longwaytogo · 16/08/2006 21:56

to die so young. What happened to him? I've obviously missed it somewhere along the line.

As for family don't want to say too much in case they lurk tomorrow when i'm at work. Ohh just wish you lot were closer.

MaryBS · 16/08/2006 22:29

He had an asthma attack in the night and died. Not one of 'our' youth group, but part of a 700 strong youth pilgrimage to Walsingham.

MaryBS · 17/08/2006 04:31

Not sleeping....

Is now a good time to mention I am holiday for 2 weeks from Friday? Off to Cornwall, then Devon, will be back 2 weeks on Sunday. I should be on here before I go but just wanted to let you all know!

CaptainDippy · 17/08/2006 10:37

Morning all!!

Hectic and crazy in the Dippy Household - Argh!! Sooooo much to doooooo! Currently in the middle of putting through a Truly Madly Baby order, making and sending invitations for FIL's 60th B'day on Sept 3rd, sorting out stuff for the NCT's balloon launch on Sat - just realised I could do with going out and buying some biodegradable string and a balloon net - Argh! At least the DD's are in their rooms and quiet - so that is one thing - can at least have a few moments to concentrate on all the stuff I need to do (and post on here, of course - priorities!! )

Praying for your fat, fed-up friend Katzg - Praying her little one makes a move "down and out" sooooon!! You are going to be a Godparent - how lovely!! Do post asap when she sprogs - I love hearing about babies too!!

Praying for those nasty Period Pains, Xavielli - have every sympathy - mine are awful - still hoping that they are on that "holiday to Babyville"!! Praying for Eliana with her jabs well - hope she is ok - is this the last lot??

Awwwww, lwtg - wish we all lived closer to one another too - would be fab. Glad you got DD's room sorted, great achievement!

Oh, MaryBS, 15 is soooo young. Gosh, any news on funeral / how his family etc are coping?? Praying .... How your mother's visit going atm?? Hope you have an absolutely fabtastic holiday honey - We will miss you!!

Nanou1 - Did you get the book?? Hope you are doing ok.....

Continuing to pray for YorkieGirl and her DD's - among others on our prayer list!!

Notquitesotiredmum · 17/08/2006 12:33

Just popping into say hello. DS2's excema is much better - many thanks for all of your prayers. Otherwise we're hectic, but fine.

God bless

MarsLady · 17/08/2006 12:39

Can we add another MNetter, tjacksonpfc? Her DH recently passed away. He had colon cancer. She's left with 2 very young dds.

Please continue praying for my friend Dave. He's doing very well. Has only a few days left where he needs to be careful of infection. Managed to do a few hours work yesterday. Knackered, but loved it.

CaptainDippy · 17/08/2006 13:26

Hey there!!

Good to see you NQSTM - sooo pleased DS' exzema is much better - as a sufferer myself, I have lots of sympathy for the poor wee mite!! I'll keep praying that it remains under control!

Hi Mars - Soooo pleased that your friend Dave is doing so well - praying hard as he gets through these next few days - fabulous news that he managed a couple of hours at work!! Thank you for letting us know about tjacksonpfc - will be praying so much for her and her little DD's as they comes to terms with the fact that husband / daddy is no longer with them. My mother is a colon / rectal cancer survivor, but it is one of the biggest cancer killers in the world. I am so so so for them and will definitely pray - I'll find a thread to link as well - Thank you for keeping us up to date Mars - How are you doing yourself sweetheart??

Right - lots of housework to get through so had best make a start ......

OP posts:
MarsLady · 17/08/2006 13:33

Doing very well thanks CD. Working hard. Work is really coming in so I'm happy. I just need to complete all my paperwork and have an interview with my assessor that I can be a fully recognised doula. Then I can earn some proper money lol. Love the work though.

Just pray that my finances don't collapse as I fit all the kids out for school. Sigh......... Just spent over £300 doing DD1, another £80 for DS1 (fortunately just topping up his uniform). Haven't looked at DD2's uniform yet.. that's today's job. Then I need to do shoes. So a bit more work would be good.

Have had some really good births and lovely postnatal jobs. Will need to think about advertising in September, but for now the work is coming in word of mouth... which is brilliant.

You could pray that I keep my motivation up for my OU course and that I get the final 2 essays in. I have an exam in October so need to start revising.

That's pretty much me I think. Ooh, DD2 is still in France with her friend so please pray that that is going well. Oh and could you pray that I get the time and inclination to do my driving lessons again and take and pass the blimmin' test!

I check in regularly and pray for you all, even when I don't post.

CaptainDippy · 17/08/2006 13:42

Glad you are doing ok Mars! Ooooh, you are going to be a Doula - how wonderful - an incredible job! I'll bet you've had some memorable experiences!! Hoping you get lots of work coming in soon - esp when you begin advertising in Sept.....

Praying for your finances too and for your OU course (what are you studying??) Praying you'll have the motivation to get through the coursework and the exams - Wow - You are amazing!!

I am learning to drive myself atm - not great at it, but getting there - soooo looking forward to eventually passing my test and being able to go where I want, when I want during the week with the girls - hopnig it won't be too much longer - Do it Marsy - book some lessons and do it!"!

Thank you so much for all your support and prayers, they are hugely appreciated!! hugs]

Twiga · 17/08/2006 19:49

Still really need to catch up but thought I'd post and let you know how we're going. The numbers I gave you before were wrong - one of the team did a count through all the registered children and we've actually had nearer 100 children from Tues - it's been mad! Things are going well, the children seem to be getting the teaching - we've been doing parables - using children's ministry matierial (Jungle Jamboree). Dd has been spending some of the time with me then going to play at a friends house the rest of the time - at 11 months the whole morning is too long to expect her to sit still - the kids have really taken her on though and she has a wee trail followers where ever she's crawling. We've had an impact team with us and unfortunately they haven't gelled well with the main team, things have improved as the weeks gone on but it's put a bit of a cloud on things. Please pray that these issues would resolve and that at team de-brief any chat would be positive and constructive. Please pray too that I can keep going until Sunday, doing the club and looking after dd while dh is on call all week is really taking it out of me just now.

MaryBS · 18/08/2006 05:45

Twiga - well done with all the good work you are doing with those children - I am truly in awe of you! Praying for the situation with the impact team - maybe at the debrief you need to stress at the beginning that it should be kept positive - use the situation to learn from it. DD sounds like a bundle of fun, glad you have a friend to help out there. Praying for energy for you to keep going too - I don't know how you do it!

Praying for tjackson and her family. That is SUCH a hard thing to come to terms with. I cried when I read her thread from beginning to end. God give her strength, love and peace - I will continue to pray for her, and for Yorkiegirl too.

CD - good luck with the driving lessons, this is one time when I'll say don't join your hands in prayer, but keep them on the steering wheel

Marslady, well done on all the work you've done so far and congratulations on finding a job you totally love! Good luck as you start your new venture, I pray it will be successful (I'm sure it will be!). Get cracking with those driving lessons, and bear in mind what I said to CD about praying at the wheel . Good news on your friend Dave - let us know how he gets on - praying that he goes from strength to strength

I've no more news on the 15yo that died - I don't even know which part of the country he was from. - so very sad.

Thank you for all the good wishes re: my holiday. I pray that I'll come back refreshed and ready to crack on with work. It hit me at about 3am, how much I will have to do before December, and its making me wonder how I'm going to fit it all in. My next tutorial is on 9th September, so I will be doing some light prep., work for that while on holiday, otherwise I'll only worry! I also lay there worrying (and praying about my sermon), but God is good and he's given me a couple of ideas, I just need to expand on them. When I went to MP yesterday (on my own again!), I took the chance to go and stand in the pulpit for the first time. Doesn't look very high from down below, but totally weird standing up there gazing down on the pews - made me feel dizzy! . I'll get used to it, I guess - just keep praying for strength! Then I have a bible study to prepare for my course and essay to write. Oh and a letter TO St Paul, in response to 1 Corinthians - a rebuttal if you like!

PandaG · 18/08/2006 09:14

Thanks for letting us know how the holiday club is doing Twiga - amazing you can do it with an 11 month old. Will pray for the debrief session too.

Lovely to 'see' you Marsy. How on earth do fit everything in? Being a doula sounds lovely.

Mary - praying you get a bit more sleep on holiday, and that your preparation goes well, but that you have a great holiday too.

Morning everyone else, how we all doing today?

CaptainDippy · 18/08/2006 10:25

Bonjour!!

How is everyone today? DD's are sleeping and I'm catching up ..... Supposed to be going to a farm with MIL () today; but weather's not looking promising -

WOW! 100 children, Twiga!! Sounds like my idea of a complete nightmare!! Well Done you - you sounds like you are doing soooo well - looking after DD and doing the holiday club while DH is "on call" - You are a star!! Praying for de-brief and for energy levels - keep going - well done!!

Praying for you and your workload too, MaryBS - Don't do too much while you are away - enjoy yourself and have a break - Come back raring to get on with it - you'll probably be a lot better for it!! Lecture over!! Hope you have a fabby time away - see you on your return!!

How's everyone else doing?? (Hi PandaG!! ) xxxx
