Helloooooooooo!

A shiny new thread :)

How are we all today?

DS seems to have the beginning of what may be chicken pox so is in bed feeling sorry for himself. My laptop is playing up - a picture fell on it yesterday and killed the b key - it takes ages to make it respond now grrrr - and cracked the screen, so not sure what to do :(

I'm pretty sure you'll be allowed to leave a letter and a photograph.
has he got a "plot"?
DH's dad has a rose that they pay for every 10 years, and they can leave memorial items at the bottom.

There are others in the crem that have a space in a wall, and you can leave momentos underneath.

This is weird, I wrote a post on here on Tuesday evening, sympathising with everyone and stuff ... And now it isn't here! Does anyone remember seeing it?!

I'm grounded today .... Drove to my first appointment for work today and on the way I felt like something wasn't right with the car. After my appointment I checked and there was no water. Filled it up and drove home by which time the water had gone again! So I drove to a garage at the other end of our village and had to cancel the rest of my work stuff as I couldn't drive anywhere! So I'm home trying to do admin instead and listening to the Rend Collective instead. Do any of you like them? I never thought anyone would be able to redeem Kum By Yah after it suffered a long drawn out death when I was in primary school!

i didn't see it Confused

I like kum ba yah.

how strange about your water! I hope it's all fixed now

I love Rend Collective @Jayne! I think they are fab. Also like David Crowder who are similarly folksy and different.

Lollipop, thinking of you, this must be such a hard time.

niminy, you are in my prayers.

Had a horrible week laid up, this has been a nasty one, think I am beginning to come out of it now.

oh mhd, it must be awful never knowing how well you're going to be day to day.
i was sick on wednesday and i felt like death, and that's not even a tiny glimpse into your life :(
[hugs]Brew

Cake all round.

Last day of the shop is tomorrow - and I've been selling my bookcases. Most people have just reserved them and will pay on collection, which they all seem to think is today or tomorrow! Hmm
Well, considering the shop still has more stock in it than when it opened! it's unlikely that the bookcases will a) be empty by the end of today (or tomorrow) and b) dismantled ready to take away.
It's rather annoying.

thank you :)

I'm actually not feeling too bad about it at the moment - probably because the shop is still stocked to bursting, so it doesn't feel like a closing down sale! (yet)
(wait until tomorrow and I'll be blubbing into everybody's boots - mainly those who i've never seen before but are very sad that i'm closing Hmm )

MHD and Nickel, you have been in my thoughts and prayers this week.

Mum's a little better. It wasn't a fracture, but whatever it was put her in a lot of pain and she couldn't walk. She's able to go a few steps now (which is good) with a zimmer frame, but it's not clear what the next few days and weeks might hold. I'm supposed to be there today but am feeling tired and at-the-beginning-of-a-cold-ish, and being an undutiful daughter, have ducked out of going to see her.

And it's cold and raining! Sad

Extra slices of Cake, cups of Brew and a bunch of Thanks all round. It's that kind of day, methinks.

i got flowers today.
the man from the music shop came in and said that he and his wife wanted to show their appreciation.
and sadness that i was closing.
That's lovely.
they do buy quite a few maps and things from me :)

glad your mum's getting better, and so glad it wasn't a fracture, which hopefully means it will heal quicker (and you don't have to worry about bones crumbling) Flowers to her. if you're at the beginning of a cold, it would be undaughterly to visit her - she really doesn't need to get ill on top of it when she's already weak, so please don't beat yourself up about hat.

Goodness Nickel, I missed that your shop is closing down. Really sorry to hear that.

How far away is your mum Niminy? Is she close enough that you can just pop in another day?

And MHD I will look out David C ... Have heard the name before but don't know their stuff. Just keep Rend on loop right now, especially Build Your Church ... Makes me feel all excited!

Report
madhairday · 12/10/2013 10:18

I love Build your church, and also Second Chance, and Shining Star :) They're so brilliant - I am getting so bored of the same sound in worship music atm, so to come across things like Rend and Crowder band are refreshing :)

niminy glad it wasn't a break, but praying for ease from pain and quick healing. Don't feel bad you are unable to go if you feel poorly, you need to look after yourself :)

nickel, that's so sweet of the music man - thinking of you today Thanks

Feel like I have so much to do as been ill all week, and still not bettter, now panicking over stuff like forms to fill in, kids stuff to sort etc etc, it's relentless sometimes and I have zero energy and less enthusiasm.

MHD- hope you feel better soon.

Niminy - hope you are better soon. I'm sure everyone will understand that the last thing you'd want to do would be pass on the cold.

Hello again from long ago. I used to be quite active on MN and indeed the church. I kind of lost my faith some time ago but have been persuaded to go to an alpha course. Not sure what to make of it really, but I thought I'd pop by for a chat anyway.

Report
Dutchoma · 14/10/2013 19:52

Kay hallooo, how lovely to see you. I hope the Alpha course is ok, I have never done it but saw my daughter's book and shuddered so far that I have never ever been near it again. And I only saw the first page. So I hope you will not give up on God and/or the church if the Alpha course is not what you need.

I get fed, which is a big tick for me [shallow]. I've been to two so far and they're not too taxing. The discussion part is quite fun - there's a six month old Christian (iyswim!) and devotee of the God channel and a couple of atheists! It's a bit like MN...

Report
Dutchoma · 14/10/2013 20:28

Yes, the feeding is a plus. And the company. Must be fun to see the atheists and the Godchannel person engage in battle?

I'm umming and ahhing about going tomorrow as I feel a bit ill. Big wuss, but I can't bear the thought of the walk back in the rain! The other part of me thinks I made the commitment and I should suck it up and get on with it. Doesn't help that I have an important appointment this week that I'm not looking forward to, too. Ah well, I'l let you know how it goes...

Report

make the effort if you're not poorly tomorrow.dh was sick on Sunday morning so missed church. we actually did really well without him.
Shock
then CW said he should observe the 24hour thing and he couldn't o evensong.
we thought that we would just do psalter chants and the hymns, but we ended up doing the preces and responses we'd practised and pulled out a couple of pot boilers for the introit and anthem
I think we surprised ourselves with how good we were! Grin
normally when dh isn't there we justfall apart, but I think it was because we chose music we knew jnside out.

we were supposed to be doing rutter's Go forth into the world in peace and balfour-gardiner's evening hymn. far too hard without dh.

Dutch what was it that put you off Alpha? I took a friend along to an Alpha course a couple of years ago and was quite impressed with the whole format. Changed her life too. Hope you feel up to going, Kay.

Nickel how are things now the shop has closed?
