My very old siamese cat has possibly got hypothermia

Poor pussy

He has had warm fluids (not IV but an injection) & I had to go & buy him an electric blanket to keep him warm or I wouldn't be allowed to take him home

He hasn't eaten & is walking very oddly - but he has had a drink

What else should I do?

That is really positive news Katymac - sounds like you have a lovely vet. Fingers crossed for you.

He is home

He is on a heat pad still & has to have special food

He is back tomorrow for a temperature check

I'm glad he has perked up a bit for you all

He is curled up under a heated blanket next to the wood burner

He has done a wee, eaten a small amount of food - but not enough yet

OK only eaten about 20% of what he should have this evening

So I guess we aren't out the woods yet

How are things today? Everthing crossed he is eating better.

Can take a while for appetite to return - just keep plugging away, offering warm smelly foods.

He went back to the vet first thing

He is on special food & ab's (2 lots) plus his heart medicine

He doesn't need to go back until Monday unless he gets worse again

But he is only licking the food off my finger rather than eating it

Better than nothing though

When this happened to my Mum's elderly Siamese, she got him a heat mat but he also used to go into the bathroom and lean against the radiator, under a towel. Was very cute.
