I reckon my hamster has had a stroke

It's gone all lopsided and is slow and looks odd... well.. just like a human who's had a stroke really.
Is this possible or am I being completely barmy?

well this poor hammie has been poked more times in the last couple of days then it has been in it's entire life... I got it out again as I bought it a treat and it could obviously smell it, but didn't seem to be able to see it iykwim. It eventually smelt it's way over and tucked in, but it took it a few attempts...
Christ this is breaking my heart ...
anyhoo...

I'd hate to be a Hammie, Eyes popping out, cushings disease, getting crushed by Dickens greatest works, exploding! its a mine field in a hamsters world [hsd]

(sob) His fur started to come out a couple of months ago aswell. It's all back now though, he's been yelping for a while, the vet say's he's OK apart from the cushings, she won't do anything though, his wee is really smelly, it stinks the living room out. I do change his bedding and take the wet sawdust out of his cage every day. Poor thing

Murder by Dickens seems to be a really bad way to go though Eyes popping out!! Ewww!!

Oh, about the 30 pounds for the trip to the vet - when I was little my mum took my hamster to the vet, showed it to the receptionist who said that she thought that it looked OK, so she took it home again and it died that evening. So this is always an option if you think that the vet would be a bit pricey.

my dd had a hamster when she was young and it died,i proceeded to give it a suitable funeral and buried it in the garden ,i then placed a huge rock on it to stop cats digging it up.About a week later someone told me that they go into hibernation and that maybe our hampster wasn really dead !

Report
happywheezer · 23/10/2009 16:07

I remember hearing a story once of somebody who thought their hamster had died, so buried it in the garden and then had the extention bulit on it, only to realise that hamsters' hibernate. Oh dear.
I had a hamster christened the fertility hamster as I got pregnant shortly after buying him from pets at home. Augustus Gloop( because he got stuck in the little pipe that they have) died very shortly after, when I was away and husband didn't want to tell me as he thought I would get too emotional about it.I had to ask whether he was really dead though although we didn't build an extention over him.

Our hamster escaped. Was found by the dog who licked it a lot thinking it was a puppy. It died. It was literally loved to death.

It was called Boris.
