SOOO ANGRY !!!!

Hi all,

So in April I found some beautiful main coon kittens online. I got the first pick of the lot as I was first to view. 5 girls 2 boys. I went there with intentions of choosing a girl but when I got there and seen the dad I was swayed to go for the biggest boy. I chose him and then went a month later just to see how he was. I am supposed to be getting him in three weeks and just got a message saying he has turned out to be a girl!!!!! And the other boy a girl !!!

This is an experienced breeder with show cats from all over the world that are registered!!! How can you get it so wrong !!!

What I’m most confused about is when we first went we were looking at all of the sexes and he was picking them up like girl, girl, yep his definitely a boy !!!

I’m heart broken !! Do u believe this or do you think he has sold him behind my back.

He’s said so you still want “her”

What shall I do :(

I got a kitten from battersea. Told it was a girl, I tried telling my dh I could see boy bits. My dh laughed at me and said the battersea vets knew what they were doing.
Injections a few weeks later and our vet declared we had a lovely boy!
Would have had him boy or girl. Did have to rename him though!
It's obviously a bit tricky to see what's what when they are young!

Even my vet could sex one of my kittens reliably until she was spayed. It can be really, really hard to tell.

It is quite tricky to tell with young kittens. It’s probably a genuine mistake. We had a rescue kitten few years ago that we were told was a girl and turned out to be a boy. It didn’t put me off- either you want a kitten or you don’t! I don’t understand the dilemma or why you’re heartbroken Confused You might have to rethink names though!

A previous generation of my cats came to me as three boy kittens. It turned out one of them wasn't.
The only thing we did was add a 'y' on the end of her 'boy' name.

Don't know about cats but I know of the same thing happening with puppies buying from experienced breeders. It isn't necessarily anything untoward on the part of the breeder, just a mistake.

It’s a minor annoyance at best. I wouldn’t be SOOO ANGRY!!! about it. If you like that cat just take it. If you want a boy then get one elsewhere.

My friend chose a boy cat at the cat rescue. Then after a few weeks the vet said he was a girl. Then after a few months the vet tried to spay him and decided he definitely was a boy. Then I think he went in for neutering and that vet said he thought he was a girl. Sometimes it isn't easy.

It is hard to tell when they are very young. Their bollocks seem to pop out almost overnight rather than emerging gradually.

But why does it matter? Are you going to turn your back on that little kitty just because it doesn't have a penis?

I can never understand why people pay a fortune for pedigree cats when so many beautiful kittens need homes. Gender is not a big issue when they are all neutered. Boys might wander more.

Also, I very doubt an extremely experienced, well-known professional breeder would be advertising online Hmm

Very common in cats, even from the very experienced, it can be very difficult to sex kittens.

Puppies ... anything beyond confusion in the first day of delivering fug, not so much - there would be no doubt at all which is which, and it would be more likely here if 'discovered' later that the breeder has sold or decided to keep one of the opposite sex.

Well yes it does matter for those making their scarky comments. Main coon males grow considerably later than females. I’ve brought everything blue and had a personalised bed with “HIS” name on it. So your telling me after all of that you wouldn’t be fuming ! And yes I originally wanted a girl but I’ve now been talking round for the last 9 weeks with boy in my head, it’s now hard to turn that around and think girl when my heart was set. If it was a cheap Tom cat from the house next door I probably wouldn’t be bothered but it’s the fact it’s such an expensive cat and I’m paying for a pedigree.

Has the breeder still got a boy you can swap for , if not just look for another litter . At the end of the day it seems to be a genuine mistake so really no need to be so irate , if you don’t want the girl then get back your deposit on those grounds and move on .

Cats don’t sleep in cat beds so I wouldn’t worry about that, they’re also colour blind so don’t worry about things being the wrong colour.

Go to another breeder and get a male
