SOOO ANGRY !!!!

Hi all,

So in April I found some beautiful main coon kittens online. I got the first pick of the lot as I was first to view. 5 girls 2 boys. I went there with intentions of choosing a girl but when I got there and seen the dad I was swayed to go for the biggest boy. I chose him and then went a month later just to see how he was. I am supposed to be getting him in three weeks and just got a message saying he has turned out to be a girl!!!!! And the other boy a girl !!!

This is an experienced breeder with show cats from all over the world that are registered!!! How can you get it so wrong !!!

What I’m most confused about is when we first went we were looking at all of the sexes and he was picking them up like girl, girl, yep his definitely a boy !!!

I’m heart broken !! Do u believe this or do you think he has sold him behind my back.

He’s said so you still want “her”

What shall I do :(

I'm sure she wont mind sleeping on a blue blanket..

Witchofzog · 15/05/2019 22:59

You are "heartbroken" because you bought a blue personalised basket for a boy and now you have a girl. Seriously this is a cat not an accessory and the cat really won't care what colour the basket is. Most cats are contrary little buggers anyway so there is a good chance the cat will refuse to use it anyway.

I sold a kitten sexed as male. Vet said so. The new owner took him for the snip, the vet rang and said we cannot castrate this cat because he is a she. Blush

Anothertempusername · 15/05/2019 23:01

I hope it keeps fine for you, OP. Have a Biscuit and get over yourself.

Ilovetolurk · 15/05/2019 23:01

Chin up OP
We had a tom called Sophie once
Made an excellent Sophie
I blame the Long hair

chemenger · 15/05/2019 23:03

I had foster kittens called Charlie and Lola, turned out Lola was a girl.

TrixieFranklin · 15/05/2019 23:04

God forbid - blue!? For a girl?? Fuck me the poor cat.
Maybe you'll be lucky and the cat will identify as a male or be gender fluid and not give a rats arse.

RandomMess · 15/05/2019 23:06

Fool paying for a MC kitty when there are loads of MC that need rehoming... 🤷🏽‍♀️

bluebluezoo · 15/05/2019 23:06

Also, I very doubt an extremely experienced, well-known professional breeder would be advertising online hmm

This.

I would be very angry too o/p. Everyone knows a blue basket will turn her into a butch lesbian cat. She’ll cut her hair short and start sniffing after the tortie 3 doors down.

So you either buy a pink basket and take the girl, or find a boy cat to match your accessories.

Cats don’t much care for gender stereotypes anyway.

Years ago, dc wanted a guinea pig. I met a friend at the pet store who offered us either one or two for free from her home. We decided to get two as they like company.
Dc wanted a girl and a boy. I didn't want babies.
So, we brought home two male guinea pigs, one of which was named Steve and the other Alice.
They didn't care, and nobody died.... Grin
Mind you, dc was a bit put out in later years that they were deceived!

buttertoasty · 15/05/2019 23:12

OP you sound ridiculous

Iamtheworst · 15/05/2019 23:17

I found out my boy kitten was a girl when I took him to be neutered. Was a bit embarrassing, not least because we had a female litter mate and the vet asked did I know the difference between boys and girls (I’m slightly in love with him)

Didn’t change her name and to this day she’s never answered to it! My cat bed is red, is it that ok?

minou123 · 15/05/2019 23:17

I appreciate that if you are spending a lot if money on a cat, then knowing the sex is a factor.

But, it is really difficult to tell in kittens.

Cats do not care about colour scheme and personalised stuff. I tried this and my male cat loves his pink duck toy and my female cat loves drinking water straight from the bathroom tap........while I'm sat on the toilet Blush.
It could be that I haven't raised them to be perfect middle class cats Wink

LikeDolphinsCanSwin · 15/05/2019 23:21

This is not something to be heart broken about.

justasking111 · 16/05/2019 13:38

If you have a maine coon queen rather than a tom, you are quids in to be honest, especially if you breed from her.

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 16/05/2019 13:55

Tbh if you can afford a Maine coon you can afford to buy another blanket Hmm

bluebluezoo · 16/05/2019 13:59

Oh lord don’t give her ideas Sad. There are plenty byb about already.

Plus if you breed pedigree cats responsibly, with vet care, stud fees etc it is very hard to make a profit.

You’re only quids in if she mates with next doors tom and you don’t bother with any medical care, plus everything going ok with the pregnancy and birth and mum and kittens surviving, and provided you manage to sell the kittens on gumtree or wherever.

I say that as the current owner of a pedigree dumped at rescue by a “breeder”. Cat is fucking traumatised. Had 2 litters before she was 18m, has not grown correctly and is terrified of life outside one room.

purplelass · 16/05/2019 14:02

I’ve brought everything blue and had a personalised bed with “HIS” name on it.

whispers but she won't notice... Confused

This thread should go in the dictionary under 'first world problems'

howlongcanausernamebebeforeits · 16/05/2019 14:06

She's going to be pissed at the blue blanket and wrong name cats can't read.

It's a pickle.

dreichuplands · 16/05/2019 14:07

My experience of buying pedigree cats from reputable breeders is that while they have websites they don't need to advertise available kittens as they get booked up months in advance.
I would be more concerned about that a sex change.

redhotchill · 16/05/2019 14:09

😂

And it's Maine. With an e

Bookworm4 · 16/05/2019 14:09

cheap Tom cat
Says it all about your attitude.
Cat rescues are overflowing with kittens needing homes but you obviously need a nice showy accessory. 🙄🙄

SpamChaudFroid · 16/05/2019 14:17

Probably best you don't buy this kitten OP. or any other

CabbageHippy · 16/05/2019 14:22

Personally I have always found female cats to be more affectionate than males
