Their purpose is to be admired and spoiled, minion.

MoreSlidingDoors · 10/05/2019 22:49

He’s right.

pearldeodorant · 10/05/2019 22:49

To bring joy to all

PristineCondition · 10/05/2019 22:50

Thats true of all predator animals then

OldAndWornOut · 10/05/2019 22:51

Cats don't have to do; they just have to be.

mollysshadow · 10/05/2019 22:51

They're our feline over lords

Fluffiest · 10/05/2019 22:53

They are good for killing mice in the house.

They are good company. They are pleasing to the eye.

And they guide souls over to the other side when they die.

A thoroughly useful creature.

sweetkitty · 10/05/2019 22:53

They are our masters, we are here to serve them
One of mine is looking at me from the top of the kitchen door

ipswichwitch · 10/05/2019 22:54

Well our cat certainly keeps the local mouse population under control. That is the reason farmers have always had cats throughout history, to keep the mice at bay. Pretty useful I’d have thought.

Honeyroar · 10/05/2019 22:55

He's kind of right, but when they decide to be selfless for a few hours they're just so soft and cuddly, they smell gorgeous and have the cutest chins and bean paw pads. You forget the times they sneer at you as if they don't know you!

Ohyesiam · 10/05/2019 22:56

They make the world a better place, and life more joyful.

Praise the goddess for cats.

LaurieFairyCake · 10/05/2019 22:56

Your dads right

As long as he says that about humans too?

Jemima232 · 10/05/2019 22:58

Cats exist simply to reject the catfood they willingly ate last week, looking at it and you as if it was shit as if you've served them something unpalatable and tasteless.

Well, mine do, anyway.

Victormeldrew1 · 10/05/2019 22:59

It annoyed me cos he said it in a way they should all be killed I felt like punching him
He's a dog person so I asked him about dogs what purpose they have n he couldn't answer lol

Killing mice, my neighbours said they had over 60 mice in traps at harvest time the year before I and my old cat moved here. None once we arrived. New cat is pretty bolshy and I checked with them that he wasn’t being a pest in their garden, they are delighted to have him visit to continue old cat’s work.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 10/05/2019 23:01

They are incredibly bad for our native wildlife in particular our wild bird population.

But hey, having a living toy is more important right?

Vinorosso74 · 10/05/2019 23:02

They have more purpose than a lot of humans. I have way too many cat photos on my phone which he should see to change his mind Smile

WatcherintheRye · 10/05/2019 23:02

My boy fulfilling his purpose in life 😁

NannaNoodleman · 10/05/2019 23:03

One of my girls is brilliant at ratting and mousing. We live on a farm, she's invaluable!

Our other girl purrs the children to sleep.

The both bring joy to our family.

No offence OP, but what's the point of your dad Wink

hartof · 10/05/2019 23:03

They're just lovely little fluffy companions and I can't imagine life without ours.

WatcherintheRye · 10/05/2019 23:04

Should have been a photo with that! Will try again!

showmethegin · 10/05/2019 23:05

@WatcherintheRye that photo posted twice but that is definitely no bad thing; SO CUTE!!!! I wanna ruffle the little belly!

Victormeldrew1 · 10/05/2019 23:09

@waterintherye what a beaut your cat is
the reason I got her was cos the house I used to live in 5 yrs ago constantly had rats in the garden as I lived by a railway line she was brilliant at catching them so yes I believe that's there purpose
Fook u dad and I hope u never get rats cos who will catch them for u lol

Collectively, they are God.

That's why they can't be doing with petty stuff like walking on a lead or doing anything they're told. - They're too busy closing their eyes very slowly in order to interface with all the other feline god-facets.

Don't ask me what the point of them being God is though. Just because they're ominpotent, omniscient and omnipresent it doesn't follow that they actually have to do anything.

buckeejit · 10/05/2019 23:10

He's totally right. Although cats, mine in particular, are necessary for my mental wellbeing
