we are getting him in a few weeks - any ideas?
i like real solid names as this little fella is going to be big and chunky when he grows up!
i'm not really keen on the "chocolate" names like "cadbury" etc but prefer scottish/celtic names like hamish, brodie, angus for example.
i also like the idea of a possibly foreign word that refers to his colour, like "bruno".
any suggestions welcome!!

did you just call me Twinkle?

ROFL

Baxter.

One of my friend's DH wanted to call their baby that, which my friend cleverly got round by suggesting it as a dog's name to a friend getting a dog.

Devonshire · 15/01/2007 17:41

oops, sorry twiglett!

did you think i was being over-familiar, in the "alwight, twinkle" frank from eastenders kinda way??

Devonshire · 15/01/2007 17:43

Ooh I love Dave, as someone has already suggested. And Boris. And Trousers.
My DH knew a dog called this when he was a kid and I have always thought it was ace.

Devonshire · 15/01/2007 18:26

i love dave too but my first real boyfriend was dave so dh might not be too impressed!
i think we have come to a decision with dexter. it involved dh shouting out various doggy names and finding out which sounded the least camp or daft! but when i meet the puppy, he may not look like a dexter so you never know!

swifterella · 15/01/2007 18:39

Devonshire · 15/01/2007 18:39

should have said,
"is the 'grunt' from flashdance or the name 'dexter'?"

before we got our dog he was going to be Pete. then we got him and he was sooo not a pete. he was stan for a couple of hours. but eventually was dubbed Duncan (Skunkan!) he's a black lab-ish kind of guy.
