we are getting him in a few weeks - any ideas?
i like real solid names as this little fella is going to be big and chunky when he grows up!
i'm not really keen on the "chocolate" names like "cadbury" etc but prefer scottish/celtic names like hamish, brodie, angus for example.
i also like the idea of a possibly foreign word that refers to his colour, like "bruno".
any suggestions welcome!!

wow! thanks for all the suggestions.

i shamed my dh by telling him that mnetters are more interested in naming our pup than he is. the first name i thought of weeks ago was brodie and i mentioned it to him, he liked it, so now when i tslk about different names he keeps saying, " but i thought we had decided on brodie?!"

well, not all dogs do eat their poo...but not sure if it's a breed thing or habit thing or maybe if it is because a dog lacks certain minerals... slightly ot, but in cyprus a lot of horses will eat their poo and I was told it is because of a certain mineral they are lacking and get that way, but not sure if it would be the same for dogs, or if that really is true.
But ALL DOGS lick their bums...as do cats...

piglit · 15/01/2007 17:21

Monty is a lovely name but you'll find approximately every second labrador called that!

I like Murdo, Jock, Charlie, Oscar, Toby and Wilbur.

Do you have a favourite book? How about a charcter from a favourite book? Hmmm, I think I'll call our next dog Peppa Pig.

Devonshire · 15/01/2007 17:23

ooh, i suppose we will just have to heavily discourage face licking from the outset! i can never understand people, like sharon osbourne for example, who let their dogs give them major league smooches when as you say, all dogs and cats lick their bums!

our lab showed a particular fondness for eating dd's poos whilst I was toilet training her - ie from out of the potty as soon as she stood up.

It was seriously gross and I was fairly hysterical. It was almost 'goodbye puppy' time.

Devonshire · 15/01/2007 17:27

eeeuuurrrggghhh!!

thank god the DCs are toilet trained!!

Devonshire · 15/01/2007 17:37

that's alright, loads of dogs have boys' names, rather than boys having dogs' names iykwim.
(unless your son is called Rover...)
