no - I couldn't do it. It was added to my stress the thought of rehoming her. The children were extremely upset and I know they would have got over it but I do feel that I had not even given Tilly a chance. I felt very sad at lsoing her. I stillfeel rather anxious but I will try my best. The toilet training and not being able to take her out is the worst bit.

I'm not sure if you have posted elsewhere about this since but I wonber how you are getting on or if you took the dog back?

My girlfriend goes through similar feelings / traumas every time I go away with work.. I generally get a text day 2 telling me the dog has to go - he's 7/8 months old now.. if I'd known at the time I would not have chosen to get a puppy but bow it is too late.. we have all bonded so he is (a sometimes very naughty) part of the family.. but then we have 4 kids that are sometimes very naughty and we still love them..

ok so now I know how to read a whole thread not just part of it.. so you kept the pup.. that's cool.. our 'pup' is great by the way and the potty training thing (just like the kids) was a real pain then one day just happened.. he is garden trained and wont poop on the lead so walks are for pleasure and 'tiring out' rather than toilets so we aren't tied to a timetable.. he is cage / crate trained so goes in there every night, in the car and when we are camping or visiting family so he can pretty much come with us wherever we go as a family.. he still wont stay off the sofas and destroys anything that isn't nailed down (and some things that are) but only if we aren't looking.. he knows what NO means and he knows what STAY means.. not perfect owners but good enough for us. Other than when I am away and 'er indoors gets stressed with him being a dog owner is a pleasure.. just how we thought it would be.. and of course my feet are always warm and I'm never lonely..

Aw I'm glad you're sticking with it. You'll feel so much better after her jabs when at least you can take her out for a change of scene, and then she'll have a lovely big sleep!

You'll be through the worst before you know it.
