To update the Equality Act to make clear that sex is biological sex, not sex as modified by a gender recognition certificate,

Many girls and women’s ‘sex ‘ based spaces in the U.K. are now really mixed sex.

Many girls and women’s ‘sex ‘ based spaces in the U.K., which are allowed under the Equality Act, are now really mixed sex in case a man who identifies as a woman wants to use them. This is on the grounds that they too are women and may even have a birth certificate changed to say they are female thanks to getting a Gender Recognition Certificate. (There is no need for any surgery.)

Organisations are afraid of being sued.
The word sex is now confused with gender.

A naked man in the women’s changing room of the University of East Anglia Sportpatk…….

A woman has spoken of her concern after twice encountering a "naked man" in the female changing rooms at the UEA Sportspark.

The woman, who did not wish to be named, said on two consecutive weeks she saw an individual with exposed male genitalia in the female facilities.

But she claims when she highlighted her concerns she was told by staff that it would be discriminatory to query the person.
www.edp24.co.uk/news/23309722.naked-man-reported-female-change-room-uea-sportspark/

Here is an apt comment from this article:

A criminal offence - indecent exposure- has happened at least twice in UEASportspark’s premises, in changing rooms that are labelled as female only, but where males are apparently allowed to enter at will.

They know about it but are doing nothing to stop it, in case they are “discriminatory”. It is NOT discrimination to exclude males from women’s spaces, no matter how he identifies.

UEA’s ignorance or misrepresentation of the law is probably because the hard-up university is still spending thousands to be Stonewall Diversity Champions, long after UCL, LSE, Channel 4 and others have withdrawn, knowing that Stonewall training is based on the law they would like to see, rather than the law as it actually is.

This is an example of why the Equality Act needs to be updated to make clear the characteristic ‘sex ‘ is biological.

Many girls and women’s ‘sex ‘ based spaces in the U.K., which are allowed to discriminate against anyone male by sex under the Equality Act, are now really mixed sex in case a man who identifies as a woman, or says he does, wants to use them.

This is on the mistaken grounds that these men are women too, who may even have had their birth certificate changed to say they are female thanks to getting a Gender Recognition Certificate. (There is no need for any surgery.)

Organisations are afraid of being sued for discrimination.

The word sex, which was originally biological in meaning, is now often confused and/or conflated with gender which is social.

Back up the law - allowing discrimination against all versions of men, whatever their gender identity, when it comes to disabled women’s intimate care, women’s prisons, hospital wards, changing rooms, sports, rape crisis centres, refuges, dormitories, girls’ school, girl guides etc -
by updating the Equality Act to make clear the characteristic ‘sex ‘ is biological, natal sex.

At present too many organisations are confused into allowing men into these spaces when men they say they identify as women, and may have Gender Recognition Certificate allowing them to change their ‘sex’ on their birth certificate. (No surgery is necessary.)

Organisations are concerned they may be sued if they do not, or may have been persuaded by lobby groups, like Stonewall, that they must be ‘inclusive’.

Keir Starmer has confirmed he will bring in Self-ID for transgender people. That means anyone who wants can get a certificate to say they are ‘female’ on their birth certificate.

Updating the act to make clear sec is biological, could help to allow organisations to use legal exemptions under the act so that, say a rape crisis centre, can provide a service for women (biological) only without so much fear a law suit against them.

The Government needs to update the Equality Act to make clear the characteristic ‘sex’ is biological, to enable organisations to use exemptions under the act to provide sex-based, safe and dignified spaces for women.

Examples are rape crisis centres, prisons, refuges, intimate care for disabled women and girls, changing rooms, lavatories, girls’ dormitories, sports where this would be safer and fairer, schools.

The Government claims everything is fine as it is and such spaces are possible. This is not true in practice. There is a confusion between sex and ‘legal’ sex creating fears of law suits. And Stonewall and other lobby groups have been telling organisations they must include men who say they are women.
